Something quite strange is happening aboard the TARDIS in The Edge of Destruction! This story was almost the very last Doctor Who story ever. It's wild. It all could have ended with a confined, paranoid story in which it seems like something is affecting Team TARDIS and turning them against each other. We end up really diving into what might be causing these four to turn on each other and appreciating the fact that Doctor Who was greenlit for more episodes. Otherwise, we have had a very short run as a podcast!
Well, friends, after a bunch of not moving giant ants last time, The Web Planet comes through with lots of moving giant ants! There are also a whole mess of Mothmen who prefer to be called Menoptera and a rather sultry sounding version of the Great Intelligence! It's certainly not Doctor Who's greatest story, but we'll always find the best parts!
Friends, we've gone back...way back...back into time! Right to the start of the second season of Classic Who and the story Planet of Giants! This is a story famous for the fact that the powers that be actually recognized that a four-parter really worked better as three parts. Not only that, it has some absolutely fantastic set pieces and oversized props! Team TARDIS has to figure out how to get back to regular size, but solve a murder at the same time! It's a wild ride that's completely worth the watch!
Friends we are back in some Classic Who and what a wonderfully comfortable blanket it is! However, The Monster of Peladon (Pertwee's Penultimate Story) is a six-panel blanket that could have easily been a more snug four! Full of political intrigue, greed, and a dash of women's lib thanks to the ever-awesome Sarah Jane this story feels quite chaotic at times but gives us quite the adventure leading up to Pertwee's final story!
Friends! We are back! Thank you for waiting an extra week and change so Taylor could go guest star on Stitches in Time (look for that late October, early November) and now we're ready to review The Infinite Quest...which is not itself infinite, but rather a quest for something called The Infinite! And, for something designed to be 13 little three minute long segments and aired on Totally Doctor Who (like, radical, man!)...it leaves us wanting. Wanting to go watch Treasure Planet instead (great film!). But you know us, we'll cherry pick the best parts.
