Making Disciples with Rev Dr Cris Rogers

295. Discipleship and Dyslexia This week’s episode Cris explores the relationship between discipleship and dyslexia, reflecting on his own experience and asking how churches can better support people who think, learn and process information differently. What happens when our approaches to teaching the Bible, running courses and helping people grow in faith rely heavily on reading and writing? Cris explores what we know about dyslexia, considers how it shapes the way people engage with Scripture and discipleship, and offers practical ways churches can create more accessible environments where everyone has the opportunity to grow as a follower of Jesus. Because making disciples means recognising that we do not all learn in the same way, and ensuring our churches make space for different ways of discovering, understanding and living out our faith.   Support the podcast with a coffee....

294. Be More Yeast In Matthew 13, Jesus describes the Kingdom of Heaven as yeast, something small that works its way through the whole batch of dough. But what does it mean for us to be yeast today? In this episode, I explore how mission is not about creating more projects for churches to consume, but about getting into the life of our communities, changing the culture from within and enabling something much bigger to grow. Perhaps our calling is not simply to build the Kingdom, but to become the yeast that helps it spread. Support the podcast with a coffee....

293. The Gospel of Imagination: Creativity, Culture and Discipleship with Caleb Woodbridge In this episode, Cris talks with Caleb Woodbridge about the relationship between creativity, imagination and faith, and how culture can become a space in which the gospel comes alive. Together, they explore how storytelling, creative expression and cultural engagement can open up new ways of communicating the Christian faith, helping people encounter the story of salvation and discover the person of Jesus. Drawing on Caleb’s work in cultural apologetics and creative evangelism, the conversation explores how imagination can become a powerful tool for discipleship, enabling us to engage with the stories of our culture while discovering how they connect with the greater story of God.   Support the podcast with a coffee....

292. Is Jesus Coming Back Soon? War, Chaos and the Hope of His Return In this episode Cris will ask whether Jesus really is coming back soon. With wars, conflict and chaos across the world, are we seeing the signs of the end times? Cris will explore what Jesus actually said about his return, look at biblical prophecy and consider the danger of trying to predict dates and times. He will also look at some of the people throughout history who have confidently predicted Christ’s return, only to be proved wrong. This is a balanced but prophetic look at the return of Jesus, asking not simply “Is he coming soon?” but “How should we live if he is?”   Support the podcast with a coffee....

291. When Suffering Makes No Sense - In Response to Big Church Festival Tragedy   When suffering strikes suddenly and makes no sense, how do we understand it as Christians? Reflecting on the recent death of a pastor Robert Guance at a Big Church Festival and Jesus’ words about the tower of Siloam, we explore what it means to face tragedy without easy answers, while holding on to the goodness of God, the hope of resurrection and the promise that suffering and death will not have the final word.   Support the podcast with a coffee....
