In this episode we were privileged to have Kurt Francom on the show from Leading Saints to talk with us on the sensitive topic of the rise of members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints deciding to leave or take a step back from the church. We talked about what our role is as leaders and friends when this situation arises, and how we ourselves as active members can stay in the church even through our crisis of faith. A few weeks ago our Stake President asked us how we access the atonement of Jesus Christ. We gave some heartfelt answers and then spent the next several weeks being instructed by the spirit how we could better answer that question in the future. Let us know how you would answer this question!

Woohoo! We made it to seven years of marriage! We talk today about some of our lessons from the past seven years and why Emily is so good at marriage. I mean She is basically perfect, drop dead gorgeous, and next level spiritual. How could she not be an awesome spouse?1?1
We sat down this week with Andrew’s maternal grandparents who just celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary! They share insights into the struggles young Latter-day Saint couples faced when they were first married and the things they did to overcome them. They then talk about how those lessons can benefit us today.
Grandma also shares about a time she felt “like an elephant was crapping on (her) head” and grandpa’s witty response that has still remained a catch phrase in their marriage decades later.
These great people are leaving a spiritual legacy and inheritance that is currently and will continue to bless their descendants throughout the eternities. We LOVE them and this episode.
Sometimes when world, national, or local news, or even our own lives get heavy and stressful all we want to do is scoop up our little family and escape into the woods somewhere and not associate with anyone. We have been calling this the "bunker mentality." As enticing as this seems, we know deep down that it isn't what Heavenly father would want us to do. When you're in a bunker, you can't project light or peace or faith, or anything. You're fear based. When you create an outpost mentality, your living a faith based life. We can live IN the world and not OF the world.

Don’t mind us as I (Emily)word vomit all of my takeaways from the homeschool conference I attended last week. The Latter Day Saint Home Educator Conference was absolutely incredible. We have been homeschooling for just one year and this conference provided me with a plethora of new ideas, encouragement, confidence, and connections and friends. Emily was able to speak in Stake Conference (a meeting of several local congregations) about positivity and being more faith-filled. In this episode she gives us a deep dive into the the points she shared. None of them are ground breaking or complex, but when you apply these small and simple practical principles over time you will notice a HUGE difference.
We all are telling ourselves stories. Right now. A fact or event occurs and we assign a feeling and response to it BECAUSE we made the fact or event MEAN something to us BECAUSE we are telling ourselves a story. Make sense? Well in this episode that’s what we are talking about! Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could sing the song from the Prince of Egypt—“Look at your life through heavens eyes…” and actually DO it? How can we write positive narratives for ourselves? Also you can be the hero of your narrative! Write yourself as the hero, not the the victim! Okay calming down now. Just give it a listen, k?
