Rocky III Watch-Along

Rocky III Watch-Along

2024-02-1901:52:43

The Cine-Files' Steve Morris and John Rocha bring you a special watchalong episode of Rocky III in honor of the great Carl Weathers who passed away just a few days ago. This is one of our favorite films and one that we felt really showed the magnetic charm of Carl Weathers as Apollo Creed. In the film, Apollo steps in after Clubber Lang (Mr. T) has destroyed Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), taken his title and inadvertently caused the death of Mickey, Rocky's longtime trainer. Apollo changes Rocky's fighting style with the help of Duke (Tony Burton), Adrian (Talia Shire) and Paulie (Burt Young) and prepares him to face Clubber Lang in the rematch for the title. It's a great one! Usually, our monthly watchalongs are reserved for our Patrons only, but we felt that this was a unique situation so we made it available to everybody. Hopefully you enjoy our conversation and a sample of one of the benefits you get every month as a patron of The Cine-Files. Great podcast! Very interesting back and forth between two very knowledgeable guys, who can bring in their opinions without lecturing their audience on how they should feel about a movie. Though political and religious viewpoints of the filmmakers are sometimes discussed, I never felt a lack of respect for differing worldviews. Very even-handed and fair. We need more of this type of discourse beyond discussion about film. That said, this is a fun and involving show!
