One of my favorite recorded conversations happened in 2022, right after Valve launched the Steam Deck. I rounded up Liam from Gaming on Linux, Nick from The Linux Experiment, and Gardiner Bryant for an organic chat about Linux gaming. Well, the gang is finally back together!
In this episode we discuss the upcoming Steam Machine and Steam Frame hardware launches, focusing less on specs and more on the impact these could have on broader Linux adoption. We also reflect on how our gaming habits have changed since the Steam Deck launched back in 2022.
Plus, we throw down some bold predictions for 2026, and share what games we've been enjoying during the last month.

Mike Kelly (aka @CodeMonkeyMike) is using NixOS, his passion, and his free time to change people's lives. He's already made a positive impact on more than 1500 people in his local community, and he's just getting warmed up!
Plus: After reading about a developer losing 20+ years of precious memories to Apple's walled garden, I've decided to build and manage my own NAS, and that adventure starts in this episode.

Welcome back to the Linux For Everyone podcast! In the first of several new interviews, I'm joined by Graham Morrison of Late Night Linux for an organic conversation about Valve, VR, Linux, and ARM! Does FEX + Proton spell the end of native Linux ports? Does Valve have too much control in the Linux gaming space? Will we ever get a good Linux phone? And when will Graham serenade us with his synth stylings? This and much more coming up!

A talk at the Linux App Summit about software sustainability – and the environmental impact of power-hungry code – was a shocking wake-up call that's too important to ignore. Please give a warm welcome to the creator of that talk, KDE's Joseph P. De Veaugh-Geiss.
In this episode of Linux For Everyone, we discuss Joseph's vital work with KDE Eco, and the path the project is forging to create a culture of software sustainability and inspire more power-efficient software. Our conversation might dramatically change how you think about the apps you use, and the potentially devastating ecological footprint of the software installed on millions -- if not billions -- of devices.
Joseph and I both hope this episode inspires more conversation and more awareness. To that end, here is a long list of resources and links to help you better understand the situation, and to get directly involved!

System76 Developing Its Own Desktop?
Welcome back to Linux For Everyone, welcome /Home, and get ready for our longest episode ever! We kick things off with some outstanding job news from Schykle, then Jerry tells a horror story about his phone eavesdropping on his friends. We also catch up on our individual privacy journeys that kicked off in Episode 54.
After that, Jerry drives the Software Spotlight by expressing his love for the ridiculously useful media tool Rapid Photo Downloader.
The middle section of the show is highlighted by an illuminating interview with Mycroft AI founder Joshua Montgomery, that reaches into Mycroft's roots and its potential. Joshua also argues for privacy initiatives like the right to be forgotten, as well as the "corporate death penalty." But he also offers hope for the future of smart speakers and virtual assistants.
We're even treated to the first "public" reading of his new children's book!
In the back half, Schykle and Jason launch the new "Tech For Everyone" segment by discussing their shared love of the Apple M1 systems, Asahi Linux, setting up a Time Machine server on Fedora, and a related chat about the Linux and Apple software ecosystems.
Kick back, grab your favorite beverage, and let's dive in to this monster!
