Welcome to the Light on Marketing podcast, I am your host Tricia Murray and I think you’ll agree that the title of this podcast and the name of the podcast have just created a paradox. Paradoxes are my specialty. I THRIVE in the midst of a paradox and that started when I came to understand the Principle of Polarity, which states that ALL paradoxes may be resolved. There was one thing that changed everything for me. Understanding how deep the relationship vein runs for us. I've had the privilege to work with businesses of today becoming more tomorrow; those who have transcended the 'game' of business that engulfs most of us at one point or another. What I've seen in the vast majority of businesses or 'brands' who find a way to continually reinvent themselves is that they mirror and reflect more of the values and characteristics of businesses of yesterday, than what we see on the landscape today. They are deeply committed to maintain the relationship with their people - their part of the tribe - no matter how big they get and they organize their resources, tools and teams around that. As we assembled our Top 17 segments that HAD to be included as we cast a broad enough vision for what we believe Marketing's 'soul', role and purpose will be beyond the edge of change and disruption, evolution and the transition from one age to another; the WORDS we use are absolutely foundational. Even moreso as we've watched the gradual creep toward redefining language that has resulted in multiple, massive mind games...this segment calls b.s on three words specifically that turned out to be front-runners for the emergence of a 'woke culture.' TRUTH: Words have power. They have power because they have energy. Words can make us laugh, cry, feel angry, afraid or joyful and elated, and your Marketing will rise or fall based on the words you choose; and, we need to be aware and conscious about the words 'power-brokers' have used, to mess with our minds. This segment hit our Top 17 list because there is SO much more to effective marketing than numbers, metrics, data; tactics, activities and 'being in our head'. There is the whole intuitive side of who we are and what our SOULS came here to create, which for some, have a direct and specific impact on our businesses. There is also a significant re-balancing underway in our world, and that is ultimately going to impact (& benefit) everyone. In fact, a recent number stated that 85% of the jobs people will have by the year 2030, don’t exist today. Shifts like that are hard to believe...until you start looking backward and connecting the dots to see how our world has changed, then we can start to envision who we are and HOW we will be the ones to influence the trajectory of what/how those jobs come to life. I LOVE finding new, interesting examples that reveal what is possible for us as we become more coherent, in our business, our marketing and beyond -- across a life 360º! The movie Bohemian Rhapsody provided a couple of really key connections to illustrate what 'becoming coherent' means to connecting, communicating and creating mutually meaningful relationships through our Marketing!
