Introducing a brand new pro wrestling podcast featuring Miles Schneiderman and MeganBob! Can Miles use his favorite wrestling show, NXT, to help Bob understand and enjoy the pro wrestling genre? Will Bob just start shipping everyone and read extraordinarily nerdy fanfic on the air? ¿Porque no los dos? Follow on Twitter @nxtwrestlingfan, on Facebook at The NXT Wrestling Fan Podcast, and at nxtwrestlingfan.libsyn.com.
Meet Miles, a die-hard professional wrestling fan, and MeganBob, an open-minded wrestling neophyte. Together, they are attempting to do something that, to their knowledge, has never been done before: produce a wrestling podcast about how to watch wrestling. Part episodic review show, part educational show, part game show, and part raw creative outlet, The NXT Wrestling Fan is a podcast of fights and feels, highlighting all that is wonderful, hilarious, and sexy about pro wrestling while serving as a friendly, inclusive guide to any who seek to enter this uniquely bizarre world. On this pre-launch primer episode: Miles and Bob briefly explain how and why this podcast exists Miles explains the fundamental basics of pro wrestling, including the ring, the rules, and the referee Miles and Bob discuss why the podcast revolves primarily around NXT Bob learns her first wrestling term and takes her first pop quiz The NXT Wrestling Fan officially launches with Episode 1 on Saturday, August 10th, 2019! The NXT Wrestling Fan has officially entered the wrestling podcast arena! This episode features the debut of a brand-new segment called "Guess the Gimmick," and also: Tons of actual pro wrestling, including another match between Sami Zayn and Cesaro, which RULES Seriously, go watch that match right now Do it Bayley's child-like wonder and probable queerness The most interesting man in the world Chekhov's Mick Foley poster A new champion is crowned (and he's going to Disneyworld) By the way, that is, in fact, our music! We've reached episode five! Five! FIVE! FIIIIIIIIVE! Ironically, Big E Langston does not appear in the NXT show that originally aired on June 19th, 2013, but he does come up in conversation, because it's time for Miles and MeganBob to have the "wrestling has a race problem" talk. It's lighthearted and fun! You know, probably! Also on this episode: Xavier Woods is the beautiful wrestling nerd our bullshit culture don't deserve Six-man tag team matches (playa) explained Miles' favorite wrestler arrives on the scene Adrian Neville eats absolute shit Big Van Vader's son steals his last girlfriend Pro graps in SPAAAAAAAACE The Wrestling Term of the Week melts Bob's brain By the way, that is, in fact, our music! As we all know, seven is the most powerful podcasting number, so it is with great arcane energy that we present the seventh episode of The NXT Wrestling Fan, covering the episode of NXT that originally aired on July 3rd, 2013. We're also gonna say that Cesaro's sudden decision to join a group called "The Real Americans" is the result of him having been placed under some kind of spell. Makes more sense than any other explanation. Also on this episode: Rick Victor motivates his vampire lover with promises of sexual deviancy, because #GothHusbands Alicia Fox is too good for the career she actually had We have (even more)(super intense) feelings about William Regal Rob Van Dam, explained A primer on suplexes Enzo Amore is good at many things, but none of them are wrestling Important lessons for children courtesy of Bray Wyatt, before that was a thing By the way, that is, in fact, our music! Episode eight started as a normal episode and then it became clear that there was a theme underlying it: a certain...royal quality, a touch of Regalness, if you will. Episode eight falls in love with (almost) every minute of the episode of NXT that originally aired on July 10th, 2013. Also featured in this episode: Fanservice for the win, possibly literally Paige and Emma are dubbed #Bubblegoth A wild Ric Flair appears! Wooo! Bob swears vengeance for a wronged pony A lot of William Regal A primer on the hot tag No seriously, a lot of William Regal talk By the way, that is, in fact, our music! On this, the much-anticipated ninth chapter of their journey into wrestling fandom, Miles and MeganBob are extremely pleased to welcome writer and podcaster Elle Collins to talk about their own journey as a latecoming wrestling fan, their tips for entering the world of wrestling, and more specifically, the episode of NXT that originally aired on July 17th, 2013. Also on this episode: A brief opening disclaimer about Elle's current work, Bayley's heel turn, and real life piece of trash Corey Graves Sami Zayn's relationship with the rules Leo Kruger's relationship with his own hair Numerous other relationships, because we're nothing if not on-brand Charlotte and Bayley: A Retrospective That feeling when you never thought you'd win the tag team championship side by side with an elf Extremely relevant Winnie the Pooh references Bob learns about CHIKARA and nothing will ever be the same By the way, that is, in fact, our music! The podcast has reached double digits and is now allowed to stay up until 9pm! To celebrate this benchmark we watch the crowning of the NXT Women's Championship in the episode of NXT that originally aired on July 24th, 2013. Also on this episode: Brad Maddox and Tom Phillips are okay! Paige and Emma turn the volume up to 11, and it's awesome Bob sees Triple H for the first time Tyler Breeze' Blue Steel > Zoolander's Blue Steel Chad: the worst vampire Sheamus is a cool, sexy ghost #Buttwatch returns! Bob and Miles have lots of feelings about women's wrestling A plug for Bob's new podcast Garden Plots with Skeletor! By the way, that is, in fact, our music! Happy holidays, wrestling fans and cautious newcomers! We give you the gift of the NXT episode that originally aired on July 31st, 2013, and which for some reason involved a comically absurd level of dance content! In this episode: MeganBob asks Miles about masculinity in wrestling and is not prepared for the ensuing TED Talk A farewell to swamp cultists In defense of S-O-F-T, which is (a) spelled correctly, and (b) punk as fuck Tons of Funk, explained as little as possible The ambiguous nature of what Sami Zayn and Cesaro may or may not have done after fighting backstage Why am submission holds The squashing of Spider-Man By the way, that is, in fact, our music! The long-awaited bonus episode is here. MeganBob gets her ten point prize and Miles gets an experience he'll never forget as he reads The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare. Also in this episode: Romance novels and pro wrestling, probably separated at birth You wanna be a duchess? How about being a duchess? Pet-caused Coitus Interruptus Beauty and the Beast meets Batman meets Dennis the Menace Cancelling shitty people Miles has feelings about sports movies Alfred Pennyworth dunks on Batman Romance novels are dope, guys
The 13th edition of The NXT Wrestling Fan has arrived, and it's luckier than Corey Graves' finisher! Why so lucky, you ask? Is it because Cesaro screams "ZAAAAAAAYN" like he's just been left to die on the Regula I research station? Yes. Yes, it is. Also because it covers the episode of NXT that originally aired on August 14th, 2013, which means it includes: Sami Zayn's ethnic identity and other subjects of rigorous academic study Paul Heyman Guys, featuring Paul Heyman The full range of quality in 2013 main roster characters, from AJ Lee to Dolph Ziggler The dangers of ineffective wrestling parenting Dean Ambrose can't be Jon Moxley, he wears glasses The first-ever edition of Wrestling History of the Week A series of increasingly deadly reveals Where do hippies come from, anyway? The review drive bonus episode is upon us! Reviewer Cat the pope requested that we cover episode 1 from series 7 of The Great British Bake Off, aka episode 1 from Collection 4 on Netflix. It's Cake Week and we celebrate by watching and getting very hungry indeed. Also in this episode: Twelve contestants, count 'em. TWELVE. Paul is fancy, British Guy Fieri It's fun to say drizzle cake No one is as cool as Selasi What do Jaffa Cakes look like, anyway? Mary Berry hates plants, apparently Andrew might be a vampire Miles really likes puns
Well folks, we did it. We've arrived at Episode #14, something Miles has been looking forward to since the early days of this podcast. Because now we get to cover the episode of NXT that originally aired on August 21, 2013, and the main event of that episode is the stuff of legend. NXT had already been getting acclaim for its presentation of the women's division, but this two-out-of-three falls match between Sami Zayn and Cesaro is what truly put NXT on the map, and became the standard by which everything that came afterward was judged. It is THE classic NXT match, and there's no better way to celebrate it than by bringing on fellow NXT enthusiast and the host of Megadumbcast, Kris Newton. We ask him some questions about his relationship with pro wrestling before getting into the episode, which includes: NXT's first (and only) AJ Lee match A merciless act of photobombing The 2/3 falls match between Zayn and Cesaro More fun with vampiric back rubs Wrestlers who are more agile than their body types indicate they have a right to be The 2/3 falls match between Zayn and Cesaro Also there's a hippie in the ring for some reason The 2/3 falls match between Zayn and Cesaro THE 2/3 FALLS MATCH BETWEEN ZAYN AND CESARO, NO, WE ARE NOT OVERSELLING THIS By the way, that is, in fact, our music! It's called "Learnbuckle" and it was created by the uniquely talented Rafael Medina, whose work you can and should follow via his Twitter account, @EarthMeauxFaux! You can also follow Miles @mjschneiderman, MeganBob @meganbobness, and the show itself @nxtwrestlingfan, or visit www.nxtwrestlingfan.com Additional music and sound credit to: "Eyes Gone Wrong", "Greta Sting", "NewsSting", "Samba Stings," "Machinations" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
Coming off the glory that was last episode's historic main event, what does Episode #15 have in store for our unsuspecting hosts? Well, Sami Zayn gets unwillingly draped in the Gadsden Flag and Enzo Amore is inexplicably getting cheered, so...yeah. Still, our coverage of the NXT show that originally aired on August 28th, 2013, has a few things to recommend it, such as: The coldest of cold opens Summer Rae's half nelson leglock Rusev endearing himself to MeganBob by punching Colin Cassady in the head The gross irony of WWE's anti-bullying campaigns Conor O'Brian: Dad or Daddy? The prevalence of the distraction finish A history lesson from the 99 By the way, that is, in fact, our music! It's called "Learnbuckle" and it was created by the uniquely talented Rafael Medina, whose work you can and should follow via his Twitter account, @EarthMeauxFaux! It's March, and right on cue, we've reached the number of episodes necessary to create a March Madness style bracket to determine the best one! Or, to put it another way, happy Sweet Sixteen! This mathematically elegant podcast covers the episode of NXT that originally aired on September 4th, 2013, which means it includes: Arts and crafts, the Camel Clutch, and other #RusevThings White sheets and saxophone solos Scott Dawson's love of Sizzler (and of flossing afterward) Face and heel turns, explained Paige's sex appeal (and apparent surveillance system) Bo Dallas just won't go away (but Jack Swagger thankfully will) The best possible version of The Great Gatsby Also in this episode, we give a shout-out to Josh Vaske-Huff and their tireless work transforming NXT performers into D&D characters. You can find the series here. By the way, that is, in fact, our music!
