He touches on a recent OHSAA football survey sent to coaches, ADs and principals seeking input on the current playoff format and if a change could happen? Stried also answers OHSAA revenue sharing questions, the return to a traditional basketball Final 4, along with much more.
Black Swamp Football tackles the hot-button topic of Ohio's football playoffs with a four-part series on the six-week playoff format. The Ohio High School Football Coaches Association pushed for a 12-team regional starting in 2021 but the proposal was not accepted by the OHSAA. In this first episode, Lynn Groll and Scott Barrett are joined by Patrick Henry head coach Bill Inselmann, Delta head coach Mike Vicars and Eastwood head coach Sam Cotterman. The four-part series on the state of Ohio's high school football playoffs will feature a segment with administrators/athletic directors, another with physicians and athletic trainers and another episode will feature basketball coaches and the impact a long football season has on basketball.
Former Patrick Henry great Marc Krauss joins this episode. After winning a state football championship at PH in 2005 and also excelling on the baseball diamond, he played college baseball at Ohio University. He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2009 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros in 2013. He also played for the Angels, Rays and Tigers.
