Rally Special (Stage)

Rally Special (Stage)

2024-04-1701:06:49

In this rally-themed special stage of an episode, Chris and Martin review Audi vs. Lancia: Race for Glory, chat about the most famous Colin McRae onboard and wonder just how long Tuthill's Rally With No Name 2023 video will stay online before the copyright FIA exclude it for having a cheaty turbo. But first we temporarily remove our bobble hats to discuss that maybe Amazon isn't done with the Grand Tour as production companies have been approached to pitch for the Grand Tour. Whistles blaring and bobble hats replaced, we settle in to give our thoughts on Race for Glory: Audi vs. Lancia. In 'What Has Henry Catchpole Been Upto This Week?' we stick with our theme and revisit some rally legends reborn in the Kimera EVO37 and the utterly delicious Prodrive P25. Our joint Youtube pick this episode is the wonder Tuthill Porsche film of the Rally With No Name, which perfectly walks the line between sharing the fun of the event without becoming too much about the fun or the competition. Watch it now before it maybe gets pulled! Inspired by the Collecting Cars podcast, we picked our desert island YouTube clips to watch over and over. Despite a whole list of amazing videos, Marty went with Henry Catchpole driving an Aston Martin N430 Vantage on the old Military Road. Chris went even further back to Chris Harris driving an F1 car in the near freezing cold at Silverstone and part 2. A great example of Chris putting the viewer vicariously in the experience, including having Martin Brundle on hand to help. In this episode Marty talks about Dan Wheldon, Chris recommends some Drive to Survive episodes, and there are flying dildos. But first, Dan Wheldon's life and legacy is coming to the documentary Lionheart. Chris has watched Drive to Survive, and Marty hasn't. Is it worth a watch, and which episodes are worth your time? But both have watched Grand Tour presents Sand Job. In 'What has Henry Catchpole been upto this week?' it's the F.A.T Ice Race in Aspen - or Goodwood on Ice - with some bizarrely rare and special cars raised up and given studded tyres. For some reason, we're been drenched in interviews this month, with Ben Collins chatting with Top Gear mastermind Andy Wilman, while Dan and Andrew of The Intercooler talking really inside baseball with James May. However, we couldn't avoid talking about Red Bull's challenge to build a drone that can keep up with an F1 car, which may change the way we see Formula cars on the limit. It's deeply impressive and looks like a flying dildo. Michael Mann's Ferrari

2024-02-0701:01:57

Chris and Marty are back with a lengthy, waffly review of Michael Mann's Ferrari movie. Is it more than you can afford, pal? Listen to find out. Elsewhere in the episode, we talk about Brad Pitt's F1 movie filming at the Rolex 24 and Harry Metcalfe putting the farmer's welly into BMW's latest EV effort. But first, the Brad Pitt F1 film was seen filming endurance racing scenes at the Daytona 24 hours. Also Andy Wilman shared a trailer for the new Grand Tour special A Sand Job on his Instagram, which comes out Feb 16th.For the review, we look at Michael Mann's Ferrari. In 'What has Henry Catchpole been upto this week?', Henry is back in his bobble-hatted, historically focussed wheel house with the mad Lancia Delta S4 StradaleFor his Youtube pick this week, Chris followed listening to a Smoking Tire to visiting the Vehicle Virgins Youtube channel and the McLaren Speedtail video. Marty went with Harry Metcalf's thorough review of the BMW i5 M60 X-Drive. Farewell to TG and GT

Farewell to TG and GT

2024-01-2501:02:29

In this episode of the Automovie Podcast, Chris and Martin return for 2024 to remember Top Gear and the Grand Tour as both disappear from our screens, and discuss the usual news and nonsense you've come to expect from two gibbering idiots who watch too much YouTube. But first Chris puts his hands up and shares a mistake from the Gran Turismo review, while Marty shares his thoughts on the movie he's managed to see. Looming over the car landscape since the last episode has been the end of Top Gear and the Grand Tour. Also Chris Harris has written a book!Since our last episode Henry Catchpole has been driving the RML SWB Ferrari 250 GT tribute. For our new combined Youtube picks we went with TG 2 - Cars and Stripes with Jack Rix and Jethro Bovingdon bringing American car content to the Top Gear channel. For our channel pick, it's Driver 61, but specifically the Project Inversion series attempting to drive a formula car upside down!If you want to tell us if we’re right, wrong or to share something we should be looking at, get in touch via the following channels:Instagram: @automoviepodTwitter: @AutomoviePodFacebook: AutomoviePodcastEmail: comments@automoviepodcast.com YouTube: Automovie Podcast

Groan Turismo

2023-09-0901:32:57

In this episode, Chris and Marty chat about Sky's new documentary Williams & Mansell: Red 5, the nominations for the Motor Film Awards 2023 are out, and Chris braves the brazen product placement to review the new Gran Turismo movie. But first in the news, the Oscars of our world - the Motor Film Awards - have their nominations announced. Michael Mann's Ferrari has released a first trailer and we wonder; can Adam Driver really become Enzo?Chris and Marty both watched the twinned stories of Mansell and Williams in Red 5. Marty has also been watched B is for Build do boats, Ratarossa and SamCrac rebuilding a slightly charred F430, and some idiots doing bad stuff to a Ferrari. Chris broke out a podcast of Toto Wolff on Desert Island Discs, lots of Daily Driven Exotics (and their half hour of daily content!) and Chris Harris monstering the Tuthill 911K. Our review for this episode is Gran Turismo. I missed watching Oppenheimer in IMAX for this. In "What has Henry Catchpole been up to this week?" Chris and Marty actually meet up with Henry at the first live recording of The Intercooler podcast! Henry also drove an OEM+ Tolman Peugeot 205!For his pick, Chris went with the ever excited train enthusiast Downie Live who attended on the Canadian GP with the Alpine F1 team! His channel pick is from the Motor Film Awards nominations with the young but beautifully produced Misha on Wheels channel. Marty picked another from Larry Chen highlighting Singapore's car culture, and highlighted the continuing, interesting, varied work from Driftworks! (Also their brilliant, deep dish energy merch!)If you want to tell us if we’re right, wrong or to share something we should be looking at, get in touch via the following channels:Instagram: @automoviepodTwitter: @AutomoviePodFacebook: AutomoviePodcastEmail:

Driven (no, not that one)

2023-07-1901:11:05

Chris and Marty are back! In this episode, we talk about the new F1 movie and its fake Apex Racing team, there's a mini-review of the latest Mission Impossible movie and Chris looks at 2018's Driven film about Jim Hoffman and John DeLorean. But first, Apex Racing for the as yet unnamed F1 film is being filmed now during active Grand Prix weekends. We'd love to share The Race's great video on it, but F1 have copyright claimed it, so instead here's Martin Brundle chatting with Brad Pitt. Sky Documentaries is now showing their latest Mansell and Williams film.Since our last episode we've been watching The Grand Tour presents Eurocrash, Marty raves about Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1 in IMAX, both have been enjoying Tavarish's P1 Rebuild and Chris loved George Russell in a Eurofighter Typhoon. Following his successes in Ted Lasso, Chris reviews Jason Sudeikis's turn in Driven (Not that one). In 'What has Henry Catchpole been upto this week?', Henry shares his thoughts on the new Aston Martin DB11, and Chris really, really likes his writing. For his Youtube picks, Chris has picked a Larry Chen video meeting the German YouTuber JP Performance. For his channel, Chris has gone back to The Race for their quick, but insightful reporting. Marty has chosen the latest interview between Doug deMuro and Alanis King discussing their automotive takes, and for his channel its long time Tavarish collaborator Jack Builds It. Fast-Ten Your Seatbelts

Fast-Ten Your Seatbelts

2023-05-3001:24:28

The Fast franchise is back with Fast X, and we're here with our review of the craziest Fast movie yet. We also talk diggers, Monaco TV and rubbish pick up trucks that made it to the UK. But first we discuss the development of the Dunsfold site, otherwise known as the Top Gear test track. Gran Turismo has a trailer out with the film following soon. F1 has taken over production of the Monaco Grand Prix from TMC, and the next Grand Tour adventure - Eurocrash - is coming out June 16th!Since the last episode, we've both been enthralled by Tavarish salvaging a McLaren P1, the great Nurburgring 24h live stream, and after Steve Sutcliffe voiced his opinion that the McLaren F1 is overrated, some classic Best Motoring featuring an F1 group test that rather backs up his theory. Chris also raises some interesting tips from The Photographer's Eye about how to get the best out of YouTube for viewers. For our review this episode, it has to be Fast X. Be warned, there is a spoiler section ahead! In 'What has Henry Catchpole been upto this week?', he's been taking a ride in the brain scrambling McMurtry Spieling fan car!For their YouTube picks, Chris went with one from TJ Hunt where he and his crew unpack a BMW Motorsport GT3 body kit, and all giggle like kids at Christmas. For his channel he went with the Nurburgring 24 Hour, which not only hosted live streams of the race, but quickly cut some beautiful highlights packages to aid the fan engagement. Marty picked F1 sharing the whole Imola Grand Prix from 2005, but as we recorded F1 had pulled it (Although it's still on the excellent F1 TV) and instead he went for the soggy 2008 Monaco Grand Prix which Matt Bishop recently said he thought was one of Lewis's greatest drives. Finally, no mention of Best Motoring can pass without recommending it as the rabbit hole of unique motoring fun it is! 60 episodes! Can you believe it!If you want to tell us if we’re right, wrong or to share something we should be looking at, get in touch via the following channels:Twitter: @AutomoviePodFacebook: AutomoviePodcastEmail:
Villeneuve Pironi

Villeneuve Pironi

2023-05-0901:11:53

Chris and Marty review the recent Villeneuve Pironi documentary and chat the usual rubbish about what they've been watching (a lot of YouTube) and what they think you should be watching (also a lot of YouTube). But first, the first talk from the F1 organisation has said filming for the upcoming F1 movie will be disruptive. In other news; water is wet. the Pope is catholic and bears do that thing in the woods. Since the last episode, Chris and Marty have been watching sooooo much YouTube. Marty loved the Throttle House Porsche 918 Spyder Review, Obsessed Garage Wash And Drive: 997.1 Porsche GT3RS and Ratarossa Rebuilding a Wrecked Ferrari 430 Scuderia. Chris is loving the Team Prawn Racing channel, Hard Up Garage I BOUGHT ABANDONED SUPERCAR!!! WITH ONE HUGE PROBLEM!!, More Larry Chen, and the fascinating What Is Monaco Like 2 Months Before The Race?, Returning with a movie review, Chris and Marty discuss the moving Villeneuve Pironi. Catching up with Henry Catchpole's work, his film Prototype Porsche 959 Sport: The Fastest 959 EVER? passed the Automovie Podcast test of looking at 959s for sale before the video had even finished. For his YouTube picks - yes, more YouTube content this episode! - Marty went with Flat Out In The £3m, 654bhp GMA T.50 V12 Fan Car from Top Gear, while his channel of choice is the brilliantly named Savagegeese. Meanwhile Chris went with Stefan Drury's Building the 2023 Australian F1 Circuit 🏁 and for his channel Driven Media is really channelling those early Top Gear vibes. On this episode Chris asks if Drive to Survive is still a must watch for F1 fans, Marty marvels at Adam LZ's compound and they both form the Jason Cammisa mutual appreciation society. But first, the trailer for Fast X has dropped, and Marty's not sure if the meme comments are better than the bonkers trailer. Netflix's new season of Drive to Survive has landed, but is it still interesting for F1 fans? Do they need to grow with the audience? The BBC have halted filming on the latest series of Top Gear and issued an apology to Freddie Flintoff. We both hope Freddie can make a full recovery quickly and move on with his life, but what does it mean for Top Gear?Since the last episode Marty has been watching lots of Adam LZ videos and Jason Cammisa crushing it on Hagerty. Chris has particularly enjoyed Red Bull's Aussie Adventure and Misha Charoudin sharing the behind the scenes of how one of his videos is filmed and edited. In 'What Is Henry Catchpole Up To This Week?' news, he takes his childhood tifosi to drive the Ferrari Purosangue For his Youtube pick, Chris went for something a little different with Jet Lag The Game's latest series of turning the roads of New Zealand into a board game. The whole channel is worth a watch if you like adventure and games with travel. Marty watched mountain bike racer Matt Jones building jumps in his garden for his Ariel Nomad! He also highlighted the FIA WEC Youtube channel who are posting race replays as well as their highlights packages! If you want to tell us if we’re right, wrong or to share something we should be looking at, get in touch via the following channels:Twitter: @AutomoviePodFacebook: AutomoviePodcastEmail: comments@automoviepodcast.com YouTube: Automovie Podcast
In this episode, we don't review a move! Instead, Marty tries to watch the Lamborghini movie, Chris does some research on how to help YouTubers reach more viewers and we discuss why Ted Kravtiz is vital to Sky's F1 coverage. But first, B is for Build has posted a carefully worded summary of the court cases surrounding licensing for Eleanor builds. Girardo and Co and Fiskens are selling cars in Paris connected to the movie Le Mans, and Johnny Herbert and Paul di Resta are no longer presenting on Sky F1. Since the last episode Marty tried watching the Lamborghini movie and it didn't go well, Mat Armstrong is trying to rebuild a 992 GT3 and Mighty Car Mods are literally overnighting parts from Japan.Chris enjoyed the behind the scenes look at broadcasting the 2021 British Grand Prix on F1 TV, but it was this video from JayEmmoncars that sparked the question of what viewers can do to help support YouTube creators they like. The big takeaways were:The best thing you can do is personally share and recommend videos. This helps creators find like minded viewers and will help grow their audience. Listen to creators. If they are pushing their merch, Patreon, brand sponsors or other sales, this is them telling you how their business is supported. Liking, commenting and subscribing may be a cliche, but it does help. By subscribing to channels, it does help them find sponsors and set rates accordingly. A huge thanks for James Martin and Misha Charoudin for their input, as well as Attache Travel, Super Rider and more for their honest insight. In 'What Is Henry Catchpole Up To This Week?' news, he's squeezed his tall frame into a little Caterham and shown that less can still be engaging and exciting on video. For his YouTube picks, Chris went with the Launch Control: Road to Gymkhana 2022 series, looking at what it takes to shoot a Gymkhana film and keep the car running. For his channel choices, a big thanks to James Martin and Misha Charoudin for this support. Marty went with the Smoking Tire reviewing the 911 Dakar and his channel pick was the always great Doug Demuro but...
On our first episode of 2023, Chris and Marty compare 1975's Death Race 2000 and 2008's Death Race, reflect on the work of Ken Block, catch up on all the good car content that was released over Christmas and argue about whether Drive to Survive still appeals to F1 fans. But first, we discuss the sad passing of Ken Block and the legacy he leaves behind, the remake of Bullitt, is this the end of the Grand Tour? and Drive to Survive is out Feb 24th!Since the last episode, we've been watching loads of Car Trek - both in episodes and the Oregon Fail special - Michael Fassbender actually completes the Road to Le Mans (Or does he?). Evo's Car of the Year is actually good again. Chris starts watching the Bernie story 'Lucky', all the Gymkhana films, a short film about Group B rallying starring Richard Madden, the real story behind Mighty Car Mods and Turbos and Temples 3. For our reviews we compare Death Race 2000 (1975) and Death Race (2008).In What Has Henry Catchpole Been Driving This Week? He ended his Carfection run with a sublime Ferrari 550 Maranello video, highlighting just what a brilliant car that is. He also drove the McLaren Mercedes SLR HDK by MSO, which was a wonderful bit of rare groove automobilia! For our picks, Chris went for Mercedes F1's Las Vegas demo run as a flex of 360 camera tech, while his channel was Donut Media (again), especially the High Car/Low Car challenges. Marty excavated a wonderful documentary about Thrust SSC from Archive.org for his pick, while the channel could only be Hoonigan. We're back! After an impromptu hiatus, we return to review the final film (for now) in the Mission Impossible series, 2018's Mission Impossible: Fallout. In other news, we discuss the end of Carfection (sob), I go off on a tangent about why LEGO Batman is the best Batman and both of us try to remember how to do this podcast-about-cars-in-films-and-on-TV-and-the-internet thing. You've missed us, right? But first Keanu Reeves is becoming quite the motorsport film maker, as he's now attached to a documentary about the WRC. Carfection has quietly published its last video as CNET has decided to close a number of its video channels. And the Motor Film Awards has announced its 2022 winners!Since the last episode we've been watching The Grand Tour's Scandi Flick, Chris has seen tech YouTube getting into cars with LTT and MKBHD and Marty has been thoroughly enjoying Mighty Car Mods STI swapping a Levorg! To finish up our Mission Impossible run, we discuss Mission Impossible: Fallout and what the franchise means for car movies more widely. This episode we both What Has Henry Catchpole Been Upto? and also where, as Carfection winds down, but Henry launches his Hagerty career with a Mk1 Escort. Our Youtube picks this week are heavy on photographer-extrodinaire Larry Chen. Chris went with Larry's video about the mastermind behind RWB (also for Hagerty) and the Last Lap Podcast as the channel pick, while Marty chose Larry talking to Patrick Long about Luftgekühlt and the continuing excellent of Jason Cammisa's channel. Impossible Missions: Part 2

Impossible Missions: Part 2

2022-09-1401:06:55

We're still choosing to accept missions, this time to review Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol and Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. Marty talks archive WEC races on YouTube and adds more details to the upcoming Brawn F1 documentary from Keanu Reeves, and Chris wonders whether the recently-auctioned 992 'Sally' Carrera is the most expensive 911 of all time. But first, Sally Carrera - the Pixar/Porsche collaboration - sells for $3.6m! The Grand Tour's Scandi Flick has a trailer out ahead of Sept 16th release. Did Jenson Button reveal the Brawn documentary is coming out to Disney+ sooner than expected? That and several more projects with F1 involvement. The Guardian reviews The Hit, the documentary focussing on Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward Jr's incident in which Kevin lost his life. For our movie reviews, we turn a corner with Mission Impossible and watch the increasingly better Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation. In "What has Henry Catchpole been upto this episode?" he joins the ever chatty Andreas Preuninger to go through the nuts and bolts of the 992 GT3 RS, and as a bonus, Carfection also have a film about the new 911 Turbo S running the street car class at Pikes Peak. The film is a collaboration with 000 Magazine, and includes a car wrapped in a magazine feature of Dickie Meaden driving the 930 Turbo, with Andy Morgan's photographs too!For our Youtube picks, Chris chose a tech video from Mrwhosetheboss looking at every Playstation version. Why? Because they use Gran Turismo to show the advancement and wow... Being as we're on the cutting edge of finding new up and coming talent, Chris also chose the 2.2m subscriber Throttle House for his channel having watched the great battle of the 6x6 Brabus vs a home made, 6 wheel MegaRaptor! Marty's video is the latest Hagerty Icons video from the every brilliant Jason Cammisa is the Ford Bronco Raptor meeting its competition. Impossible Missions: Part 1

Impossible Missions: Part 1

2022-07-2701:19:26

We choose to accept the mission to review Mission: Impossible 2 and Mission: Impossible 3, Chris talks us through the new US F1 TV rights and wonders exactly who is paying the bills at Drivetribe these days, while Marty reviews the latest series of Top Gear and learns about a very special Porsche 911 in Japan. But first, Variety reports that Keanu Reeves is planning a documentary about the Brawn GP Formula 1 team. Whoa. The Formula 1 TV rights have been sold to ESPN in the US, for many dollars. There's a second series of Richard Hammond’s Workshop commissioned, and the Grand Tour have been filming a new special in Poland. We should see that in around 6 months, just in time for Christmas. This episode's reviews are Mission: Impossible 2 (a bit cack but good car chases) and 3 (really good, but not enough orange Lamborghini). We'll be doing the later, crazier Mission films in the next couple of episodes. In 'What has Henry Catchpole Been Up To This Week?', Henry has been arguing with himself about the Lamborghini Huracan STO and reviewing the Morgan Super 3.Chris's YouTube pick is a mini-documentary about the 2022 Nürburgring 24H from Misha Charoudin who has been crushing it with excellent content of late, and highlights Brad Philpot's YouTube channel which is full of similarly excellent F1 stuff.Marty chose a video about a rather special Porsche 911, which turns out to also be a fascinating look at late 80s and early 90s car culture in Japan, detailing the exploits of the infamous Mid Night Club, and highlights the channel the video came from too.If you want to tell us if we’re right, wrong or to share something we should be looking at, get in touch via the following channels:Twitter: @AutomoviePodFacebook: AutomoviePodcastEmail: comments@automoviepodcast.com YouTube: Automovie PodcastThis podcast episode will self-destruct in 5 seconds.

2022-06-2401:08:05

In this episode Chris and Marty talk Top Gun Maverick, 1994's Speed, how a Gran Turismo movie might work and Marty goes full fanboy on Kévin Estre. But first, The Drive report Sony is planning on making a Gran Turismo TV series.. Somehow. Which reminds us that someone made a whole episode of Best Motoring in Gran Turismo!Michael Fassbender has competed at Le Mans this year, while Brad Pitt's Plan B has signed a deal with Apple Originals for an F1 movie. Hazzardous Territory

Hazzardous Territory

2022-05-0901:06:24

In this episode of the Automovie Podcast, Chris and Marty talk about the recently-released Max Mosley documentary on Netflix, the surprise departure of Justin Lin from Fast X, and selflessly watch the Dukes of Hazzard so that you don't have to. We also discover that we're not the only cars in films podcast out there, so say hi to Reels and Wheels! But first, Justin Lin has left Fast Ten. No word why, or if he'll be back for Fast 11. The great team at Tangent Vector have started producing a new series for Top Gear's YouTube channel with Rob Dahm called American Tuned. Alex Kersten has set up his own YouTube channel - Auto Alex - and his draw alone has garnered hundreds of thousands of subscribers in anticipation of new content. And finally the BBC has started posting old film reviews by the great, and much missed Barry Norman. His style was so well known and imitated that he became as much of a star as the films he reviewed, like Back to the Future here. And why not. Since our last episode Chris has watched Mosley: It's Complicated which also coincided with this interview with Nikita Mazepin, and both had the same sort of media control. Marty visited hallowed ground in the Lake District (if you're going, stay in this cottage!) and talks about the Bluebird K7 restoration documentary. For our main review we discussed both the acting, and driving in the Dukes of Hazzard (2005). Moving on...For his YouTube picks, Chris went with Driver61 putting F1 wheels and tyres onto an MR2 with... results. It also answered the question "What would happen if you wrapped someone up in tyre blankets?" His channel pick is SAMMIT, especially his time around Ebisu circuit during and after the recent earthquake. Marty carried on the good side of the Dukes of Hazzard vibe with Tanner Faust breaking down 10 car stunts in movies and TV. His channel is the excellent Brundle: Behind the Wheel. The First Fifty!

2022-03-2401:16:42

The Automovie Podcast turns 50! Chris and Marty pick some of their favourite Top Gear moments and reflect on their most notable films from the first 49 episodes! But first, Chris shares his thoughts on season 4 of Drive to Survive, The Drive have a great write up on the Pixar x Porsche 992 Sally, and Sky F1 to go HDR as well as 4K in 2022!Chris signed up for F1 TV while enjoying the extensive archive! Thanks to David Barrett for the idea, so Chris and Marty come up with their top 3 Top Gear features from over the years. In 'What has Henry Catchpole Been Driving This Week?' we see Henry driving the new Lotus Emira. For his YouTube picks, Chris found the answer to "How much faster is an F1 driver than a normal person?" and he also went with the channel First We Feast AGAIN because Dave Grohl did the Hot Ones challenge and was amazing. Marty continued with the Jason Cammisa vibe as Jason looks back at the Lotus Elise while his channel MPZracevideo is hill climb goodness. Vanishing Point

Vanishing Point

2022-03-0301:03:38

Chris and Marty review the classic 1971 Vanishing Point, while discussing Top Gear's original Toyboata episode, the upcoming Season 4 of Netflix's Drive to Survive, and what to do with three Mika Hakkinens. Netflix have launched the trailer for the new series of Drive to Survive, coming out 11th March halfway through the Bahrain F1 test. Chris raises the first Top Gear cars into boats episode as maybe the peak of Top Gear? Marty has been watching Reacher (BRG Bentley Flying Spur. Also lots of punching), as well as The Wheel Network with video on the 718 Cayman GT4 RS .With F1 2022 just around the corner, Marty reminds us that F1 TV has some great punditry from Jolyon Palmer looking at classic races, while Chris has been enjoying some of the retrospectives on YouTube. Speaking of which, this podcast is now on YouTube too, if that's where you enjoy your podcasts. Likecommentsubscribe. This episode Chris and Marty are discussing 1971's Vanishing Point. In 'What has Henry Catchpole Been Driving This Week?' we see Henry driving the Guntherwerks 993 Speedster. The cinematographer is outstanding, and the work in shooting and editing by Marc Ganley is absolutely top notch. Also on Carfection, Alex Goy's excellent video on the GTO Engineering 250 California Spyder reminded us just how good of a presenter and writer Alex is. For Chris's YouTube picks, he started with Marques Brownlee turning his Tesla Model S into a camera car, and his channel is the hugely popular Corridor Crew for some VFX goodness. Marty chose an Instagram reel to be down with the kids, of an amazing lap of the Ebisu drift circuit, and his channel is more Japanese with Noriyaro, especially the latest video having fun in Yamanashi. Chris and Marty talk through their Yuletide viewing, including another documentary about the DeLorean, the controversial 2021 Formula 1 championship showdown in Abu Dhabi, the Grand Tour's Carnage a Trois, Evo Magazine's eCotY video and much, much more. But first, news! One of our favourite cinematographers Charlie B Rose has moved to become Head of Video for TopGear.com, while Larry Chen has taken over the Hoonigan AutoFocus Youtube channel as Hoonigan has focussed on their central channel. This was announced before an in-depth look at a Toyota Supra (sort of) with a Judd V10 in it!. Fast and Furious news is ramping up, with Vin Diesel and The Rock having a public feud while a RX-7 replica managed to sell for $75,000. The proper things we've watched since the last episode; The Grand Tour present Carnage a Trois, Car Trek 6 and Evo's Car of the Year. Rather than film reviews this episode, we've instead discussed the things that have been filling our sherry-fuelled Christmas YouTube hours. Drive to Overdrive

In this episode Chris and Marty review two very different movies with the word 'Drive' in the title, Hammond's Workshop gets the Automovie once-over, Driftworks gets the love it deserves, and Chris sneaks in a review of Ghostbuster Afterlife on a technicality. But first, Chris has been enjoying Ghostbusters:Afterlife on an IMAX screen because he's a big Ghostbusters nerd. Top Gear produced a fantastic behind the scenes look at how they shoot cars in a studio. The Grand Tour have released the trailer for Carnarge A Trois, and F1 has produced a beautiful tribute to Frank Williams with a great script by Sarah Holt. In news, The Drive and Donut Media are now under the same ownership, Chris has watched Hammond's Workshop, but it's the accompanying behind the scenes Drivetribe content and how he's a great example to the upcoming YouTube presenters which is really impressive. Also the new series of Car Trek is out soon, as Matt Farah is also back with more All Cars Go to Heaven. For the reviews, Marty watches Drive, while Chris takes a listener suggest and discusses the similarly named Overdrive. This week Henry Catchpole has been driving the new track special Mclaren 720S GT3X. For their YouTube picks, Chris enjoys Jason Cammisa going through the Porsche GT history. It's a great companion piece with the Collecting Cars podcast with Andreas Preuninger. For his channel pick, it's another listener suggestion with the perfectly Automovie channel Making for Motorsport. Marty dipped into his passion for land speed cars with a video on the Golden Arrow. His channel pick he has been binging is the brilliantly down to earth, hugely watchable Driftworks channel. As ever, if you want to tell us if we’re right, wrong or to share something we should be looking at, get in touch via the following channels:Twitter: @AutomoviePodFacebook: a...
