Bow Sim Mark CWRI 50th Anniversary #donnieyen Jean Lukitsh and Stephan Berwick, two senior students of Master Bow Sim Mark, for a very special conversation celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Chinese Wushu Research Institute.Founded by Master Bow Sim Mark in Boston in 1976, the Institute was a pioneering centre for the study and promotion of Chinese martial arts in the United States. Master Mark is particularly renowned for her mastery of the Chinese martial arts, as well as being the mother of Donnie Yen.Jean Lukitsh began studying with Master Mark in 1978 and became one of her senior students. Alongside her decades of martial arts practice and teaching, Jean has worked extensively to preserve the history and traditions surrounding Master Mark and the Institute.Stephan Berwick joined the Chinese Wushu Research Institute in the early 1980s. With Master Mark’s support, he later travelled to China with Donnie Yen for intensive professional wushu training before appearing in severa Hong Kong action films. A 6th generation disciple of Pin Sun Wing Chun under Master Sifu Henry Mui, he is also the only American to have performed a disciple ceremony with the late Grandmaster Fung Chun. Jim is a devoted practitioner and teacher of Zhan Zhuang (post standing), Qigong and Yang Sheng life-nourishing methods, and he is the founder of both the MIT Qigong Club and Harvard Qigong Club. The Drunken Boxing Podcast #065 - Nick GraceninMaster Nick Gracenin has a 4 decade career as a teacher of Qigong, Tai Chi, Chinese Yoga (Dao Yin) and Chinese Martial Arts. One of the first foreigners to study in the People’s Republic of China in the 1980‘s, Nick has apprenticed to many of the foremost Grandmasters in China and North America. An elite athlete, he won medals for US Teams at 6 World Championships for Chinese Martial Arts. In 2012, he was awarded his 10th degree Black Belt from the International Wushu Research Federation. He is recognized as one of the first non-Asian Masters of his art.
