That's a wrap! Emily takes solo stage for the Stocking Stuffers season finale with the annual ranking and best/worst of the checklist. But first, it's A Pickleball Christmas because how can anyone possibly resist that? Thanks to everyone for following along this year, as we'll resume our usual inconsistent schedule next month! Happy holidays to all you big city businesswomen lawyers, small town nutmeg farmers, sassy big earring-wearing sidekicks, stiff corporate bosses, long-suffering assistants, cheery diner matrons, David O'Donnells, horny sage old people, horny sage old people who are also Santa Claus, and anyone else that we might have missed!
On the 11th day of Christmas, my true love gave me A Christmas Romance! It's a trek back through time with a made-for-CBS TV movie from 1994 starring Olivia Newton-John and a lot of adorable farm animals. Emily calls in the big guns to handle this Christmas stranger: IT'S THE CAST OF NIGHT OF THE LIVING PODCAST! Join Amy, Freddy, & Andy for this gem, and be sure to listen to the internet's longest running horror movie podcast at https://notlp.com/Also, you've got ONE DAY LEFT to watch The Lost Hallmark Christmas Movie: Live!: https://caveat.stellartickets.com/events/the-lost-hallmark-christmas-movie-live/occurrences/e11259f6-84cd-437a-b4d7-6c56bbd565b1
Are you aware of just how many holiday movies play on "The 12 Days of Christmas" title? To be clear, this episode covers 2004's The Twelve (written out) Days of Christmas Eve, directed by Valley Girl's Martha Coolidge and starring Steven Weber and Molly Shannon. The Cultural Gutter's Carol Borden joins Emily to dive into this surprisingly Final Destination-y story. Have a listen and be sure to follow Carol's outstanding work at https://culturalgutter.com/And don't forget to check out Emily Intravia's video stream production of her original Hallmark parody before December 26th: https://caveat.stellartickets.com/events/the-lost-hallmark-christmas-movie-live/occurrences/e11259f6-84cd-437a-b4d7-6c56bbd565b1
Just how much apathy can go into 90 minutes? We're about to find out! Emily is joined by fellow cat lady (and also fellow Emily) Emily Menez to dive into the dark depths of Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever, a 2014 Lifetime original that seems to hate everyone. But it IS set in a mall, so it's not a total loss. Also, Tardar Sauce is a star. Follow Emily Menez @theemilymenez on Instagram to catch her comedy! And don't forget to check out Emily Intravia's video stream production of her original Hallmark parody before December 26th: https://caveat.stellartickets.com/events/the-lost-hallmark-christmas-movie-live/occurrences/e11259f6-84cd-437a-b4d7-6c56bbd565b1
Put on your most snuggly, sold-out sweater: we've got an outerwear company to save! Emily enlists the help of The Projection Booth's Mike White to travel back to 2016 for A Christmas In Vermont, where we get a somewhat phoned-in Chevy Chase and a literal phoned-in performance by Morgan Fairchild. Plus, lots of milkshakes. Follow Mike @projectionbooth.bsky.social and be sure to listen to his many shows, including The Chasing Chevy Chase Podcast (which does NOT cover A Christmas In Vermont, somehow). And don't forget to check out Emily's video stream production of her original Hallmark parody before December 26th: https://caveat.stellartickets.com/events/the-lost-hallmark-christmas-movie-live/occurrences/e11259f6-84cd-437a-b4d7-6c56bbd565b1
The time has come for us to see just how much film quality suffers by conservative values. That's right! 2025's A Cinderella Christmas Ball is a Great American Family production, and you can tell! Emily is joined by blogger, podcaster, and birthday boy Kevin Matthews for this special investigation into fake European kingdoms, magical reversible peacoats, and tongue-less orphans. Be sure to listen to Kevin's podcast, Raiders of the Podcast, and follow his blog, which covers a whole lot of these movies: https://foritismansnumber.blogspot.com/And don't forget to check out Emily's video stream production of her original Hallmark parody here: https://caveat.stellartickets.com/events/the-lost-hallmark-christmas-movie-live/occurrences/e11259f6-84cd-437a-b4d7-6c56bbd565b1
"God bless us, everyone," but said in the most monotone line reading possible. It's A Christmas Carol by way of Hallmark! For 2025's Christmas Above the Clouds, Emily is joined by podcasters Brandi & David Jackola. As is customary, tangents ensue. Would you expect anything less? Be sure to follow @brandiwine.bsky.social and @djevildave.bsky.social and listen to their Star Trek podcasts Boldly Go and Shield Podulation. And don't forget: there's still time to stream Emily's show through December 26th!https://caveat.stellartickets.com/events/the-lost-hallmark-christmas-movie-live/occurrences/e11259f6-84cd-437a-b4d7-6c56bbd565b1
What better way to spend the holidays than a full week trip with your adult family? Emily hops in the passenger seat of a German motorcar driven by the one and only Jason Fozzie Nelson to sail through the Hallmark Channel's A Keller Christmas Vacation, with plenty of detours to the Hallmark Peacoat Closet. Be sure to buy Jason's wonderful novel Always By My Side: https://www.amazon.com/Always-Side-Jason-Fozzie-Nelson/dp/B0C9FZVMCSRemember to stream Emily's show through December 26th!https://caveat.stellartickets.com/events/the-lost-hallmark-christmas-movie-live/occurrences/e11259f6-84cd-437a-b4d7-6c56bbd565b1
It's a freaky festive Friday when Emily and guest star Elwood Jones team up for a body swap! Today's movie is 2015's Christmas Trade, starring William Baldwin as a stiff lawyer dad to a perfectly normal 11-year-old who becomes a stumbling buffoon when an ugly magical teddy bear pulls a Vice Versa. Don't mess with ex-mas. Emily returns to that shiny Netflix well with the one and only Christine Makepeace to tackle 2025's A Merry Little Ex-Mas, the film that gives us the best of Alicia Silverstone in velvet, Melissa Joan Hart in Dress Barn, and tearaway tuxedos the way they were always meant to be. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and you know what that means: Stocking Stuffers are back! Emily starts the season with a solo visit to Garland, Alaska, where Hallmark decides to get vengeance on Candace Cameron Burre by making a sequel without her to 2014's Christmas Under Wraps. This episode includes a far too detailed dissection of 2022's A Cozy Christmas Inn, complete with diversions to Gene Siskel and Emily's new favorite IMDB bio of all time. Have a listen, and be sure to grab your live or live/laterstream tickets to Emily's December Christmas show! The Lost Hallmark Christmas Movie LIVE!https://www.caveat.nyc/events/the-lost-hallmark-christmas-movie-live--12-7-2025Instagram: @feminine_critique_podThe world's best IMDB entry: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2036202/?ref_=fn_t_1
We're clearing the Christmas finish line with our big finale. Up first is Emily covering Lifetime's The Holiday Junkie, the directorial debut of star Jennifer Love Hewitt. Then we (well, I) dive into a review of the full season: bests and worsts, 2024 cozy cardigan observations, and a full ranking of the movies that were covered. We'll be back with Feminine Critique Proper in 2024, complete with Christine and more intelligence. Thanks again for listening and happy holidays!
Did you know that the secret ingredient for the world’s best hot chocolate is…love? That’s one of many facts we learn when we dive into QVC’s debut film venture, Holly and the Hot Chocolate! Emily is joined by special guest star Josh Hurtado, film critic for Screen Anarchy, founder of Potentate Films, and certified Christmas movie completist. Follow his work on the various socials @hatefuljosh and discover someone who watches even more of these movies than Emily!
It’s two Emilys for the price of one! On this very special and legally sound episode, Emily is joined by writer Emily Menez to tackle 2011’s The Case For Christmas. We get Dean Cain manhands, Johnny Cochran references, Canadian elves that are very much modeled on Elf, and so much more (including but not limited to a very dark theory about a dead cloying child!). Be sure to check out Emily Menez’s many ventures via https://emilymenez.net
Break out those cargo pants with the extra pockets! We’re here to Christmas party like it’s 1999, the Hallmark way. Emily is joined by friend of the pod and Head Hauntress Elizabeth Katheryn Gray to dive choker first into A ‘90s Christmas. Get ready for dial-up internet jokes and maybe, just maybe, some touching moments? We’ll see. Be sure to follow Elizabeth’s many ventures on Facebook and catch the finale of her show! https://www.blogtalkradio.com/archivistsbetonsexywitches
Parenting a baby is apparently easy: it’s kindergarten when things get really hard, or so sayeth our leads in Hallmark’s 2024 sequel to Three Wise Men and a Baby, Three Wiser Men and a Boy. Rejoining Emily are Hallmark experts Brandi and Dave Jackola. Follow their various ventures via @brandiwine and @djevildave, and be sure to check out Shield Podulation for random coverage of Star Trek and Brandi’s live youtube show, The Undready Room.
Ho ho hope you’ve got a warrant for this one! Emily sits down with The Cultural Gutter’s Carol Borden to explore what the Denver (and also Wisconsin and maybe Canadian) holiday crime scene looks like through a Hallmark lens. It’s 2021’s The Santa Stakeout! Have a listen and find Carol’s incredible work over at https://culturalgutter.com
Whoa boy, this one is something! Original recipe cohost Christine returns to help Emily navigate the challenges of dating in 2014 with Christian Mingle (something titled Christmas Mingle), a 90 minute ad (sort of?) for a very confusing matchmaking app. This movie is streaming on Tubi and written and directed by Corbin Bernsen. It’s a LOT to take in, but thankfully, holiday stalwart Lacey Chabert is there to help us through.
Obviously, we weren’t going to let the season pass without tackling Netflix’s snowman hunk-woos-Lacey-Chabert movie. Emily brings the big guns in for this one with Jason Fozzie Nelson, an expert in all things snowman hunks. Don’t forget to support Jason by buying his book! No, it doesn’t include hunky snowmen, but if we can up the sales, the sequel surely will. https://www.amazon.com/Always-Side-Jason-Fozzie-Nelson/dp/B0C9FZVMCS
