Y’all loved our first episode on boundaries in friendships so we came back for another round because we’re not done talking about it! We said in the first season that this is a topic that doesn’t get talked about enough and we’re still saying it this season. There are so many boundaries that are changing and developing as we grow as individuals and as friends. So for today’s episode we’re sharing some stories that led us to having hard conversations with friends, each other, and ourselves. First off, Tiffani shares about an estranged friend and what it has been like for them to reach out to her. She explains her conflicting feelings of not having contact with them and the option of extending grace. This all brings up the question of whether we should keep friends around just because they are a good person, rather than keeping them around because they are a good friend. McKenna then expresses her concerns around friends that she has had since her childhood and whether those friendships are fulfilling or even have the same standards as her newer friendships. We finally discuss our overall feelings on how these situations make us think about friendships and how if we are not seeing fulfilling friends around us, we have to be them ourselves. So buckle up for an emotional rollercoaster and hit play!   Boundaries in Friendships PART 1 - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/boundaries-in-friendships/id1477152427?i=1000448431631 Follow us here - https://www.instagram.com/thematurepodcast/
Today we are sitting down with Sarah Cooper, AKA Scoops, and having the chance to talk about her journey through pageantry, her coming out story, and her new YouTube channel. We uncover our little knowledge about what pageants are, which mainly come from Miss Congeniality, and dive into the pressures that having a national title hold and if pageants are really like Toddlers and Tiaras. Sarah later talks about her coming out story. She talks about what it was like to grow up in a conservative environment, her fears about coming out, and her ultimate acceptance of who she is today. Finally, she talks about how her journey has led her to start a YouTube channel of sharing other people’s stories and their own experiences. We are so excited to shed some light on these topics so get comfy and press play! Post-grad and being a twenty-something can often feel like the world is personally setting us up to be a failure, specifically when it comes to having a space of your own. Today, we are breaking down that barrier with the help of Maya Landrum! Maya is a current realtor who bought her first home at the whopping age of 24! We first talk to Maya about the types of people we all believe buy homes, such as “established, married, two-income households” (A.K.A. NOT fresh out of college kids who have only a dime to their name). However, Maya explains that she had people who came along to help her and make her realize where she was spending her money and how she began to save. She then takes us through her journey of applying for a loan, finding a home with “rental potential”, and how she is having someone else pay for her mortgage! After sharing a bit about her journey, we then ask Maya about some financial tips such as asking more questions and how to split up your saving accounts. Are you ready to get inspired to buy a home? Grab a pen, get ready to take some notes, and press play! WE HAVE A LIVE EVENT COMING UP SOON on MARCH 26TH,2020 IN UPLAND CA! Ever feel like you just need to pause and figure out where you’re at in life? Us too. So today we are sitting down and revealing a little bit about what is going on in our lives behind the podcast. Kicking it off, McKenna dives into the struggles of grad school and what it is really like for psychology majors post grad (Hint: It’s not glamorous in any form of the word). Tiffani talks about updates on her career and how she is pushing towards digital marketing on a bigger platform. She explains the anxiety that led to her decision and how she is now feeling about doing more freelance work. After discussing our career updates, we give a truer than true update on how we feel about seasons of singleness. It’s the hot tea everyone has been waiting for, so what do we have to say? Each of us talk about our own ideas of what it’s like to be single right now and how others in our lives have treated us about not being in a relationship. Overall, we’re bringing you along for one of our late night chats so grab a cup of coffee and press play! Sit down and relax as we take you through our traveling guide! In today’s episode we are talking about all things travel and getting to the real truth of why it feels absolutely impossible to travel as a post-grad. (Hint: McKenna 100% believes it’s a social construct.) We first discuss our travel plans for this year where McKenna is going on a complete solo trip to a city she has never been to, Boston. Tiffani talks about her experience with leaving America for the first time. Ultimately, we talk about we save for our trips! How do we process our emotions with minor breakdowns? We don’t. Just kidding. Our audience wanted to know, so we’re answering to the best of our ability! In this episode we are breaking down (only sort of literally) on the ways that we process our emotions without having a complete mental breakdown and having it affect your busy life. At one point, it will get easier and you’ll find the appropriate time if and when you decide to process. Processing your emotions comes within time, but ultimately it develops as a muscle and you’ll hopefully be able to breakdown a little less! Press play if you're looking to handle your emotions a little better!  Chat with us here! https://www.instagram.com/thematurepodcast/
In our first episode back for season two, we are exposing the unrealistic expectations that are New Year’s resolutions. New Year’s resolutions come down to one common theme: “there's a lot of talk but NO plan.” Because of our distaste of these resolutions, we had to go out searching for something that would ignite our fire for 2020 but also keep us accountable. Thus, the Lavendaire “Artist of Life” Workbook. Each of us discuss our mindset of what we plan to do if some of our goals fall through the cracks whether that’s knowing that every day is a new start or learning from the mistakes we have made. Either way, we’re ready to bounce back and make it a year neither of us could forget! 2020 we’re ready for you!
