You heard it here folks, the same Cortical Labs that taught a culture of human brain cells to play Pong, has now figured out how to teach those brain cells how to play the 1993 shooter, DOOM.....
My friend Ace Parlier came on to talk about his latest sci-fi adventure, Voided. It's a fast paced space venture that is sure to be one of your newest favorites. And if you tune in, you may get some hints of what the sequel will be like....
It's tough not to let your mind wander and wonder about who certain people are, why they act the way that they do, what made certain people certain ways. Jim Carrey was an absolute marvel of a comedian, comic and physical actor, and an overall nice guy in the industry. But over the past few years? It's been hard to ignore the drastic changes to the man, his myth, and his whittled down legend. Was he....replaced? I think.....
My pal, author of the Dissonance hexalogy, Aaron Ryan returns to the show after over a year to talk about what it takes to be a creative author in todays writing climate. With the constant development of artificial intelligence and the quagmire that new authors have to navigate in order to be successful, Aaron has a few guiding light insights to offer that are as salient as anyone could want.
Tony Bible is the author of The Photo Jumper, Remember Me, and 100 Micro Fictions with Macro Meaning. He has a detail oriented writing style that meticulously pulls at your heartstrings while making you think, unchaining the impossible to imagine what could be in lieu of what is, was, and will be. The Photo Jumper is most definitely a masterclass in how to write a page turner.
I know what you're thinking......a wild haired History Channel fella hitting that classic meme pose, saying "aliens", right? But rather than ancient aliens or alien conspiracy stories, the dystopia tales where aliens are involved always happen AFTER the aliens have come down, won, and are ruling over us lowly humans in some form or fashion. Need some suggestions on where to start? Dive on in!
I got to sit down with speaker, newspaper columnist, and well renowned author, Barry Maher, to discuss his critically acclaimed horror, The Great Dick and the Dysfunctional Demon. This book is a suspenseful ride, littered with tension and enticing world building the likes of which you might expect to find in The X-Files. Head to Amazon and grab you a copy of this book, because it is easily one of the best reads I have had the pleasure of reading so far this year and I am positive it will be one of your favorites as well!
Whether it be a virus, zombies, or fungus, we are saturated with plague ridden dystopias that are always tons of fun. Its honestly one sub-genre that never seems to feel repetitive.
Probably the most plausible of the choices we have for our dystopian future, our creations are incredibly likely to turn on us! BUT! Will it be due to our own hubris? Will our creations embody all the worst of humanity?
Science fiction is full of sub and branch genres and dystopia fictions are always a lot of fun to dive into and play around with. Fallout in particular!
Making strides in the evolution of modern myth and legend, the Bigfoot has been one of the earliest and most culturally reliable bits of folklore that has embedded itself in humanity worldwide.
I got the chance to talk to author of the Orion's Spur series, Alan Hansen about the first book in his series, Demeter and I had a lot of fun! I could talk to this guy for hours, but I think he has something really enjoyable and important going on with this series. Like we discussed, its important to read for a good laugh and a smile, but if we can shine a little light on something as detrimental as bullying? All the better!
Halloween is one of everyones favorite time of the year! We have tons of classic horror films, radio dramas, short stories, costume parties to get through, all in just a good couple of days! We have a lot of contributing origins to what we have now as the hallowed holiday. And I think my favorite is the idea that we all come together collectively to have a good laugh at what terrifies us, taking away its power over us, all over a few dollar store candy bags. Happy Halloween everyone!
I think these guys are who we think of the most when we think iconic sci-fi heroes. Who can really top Neo or Luke Skywalker? But what sets them apart from me and you, the everyman?
Politics is a fantastic writing tool to use to make a story BIG, because it helps scale whatever is happening in the background of a story. Watch something like The Expanse or Star Trek and you'll see that its something that those shows would not be as great without because politics makes things more relatable, more intriguing, and all the more real.
There is not a single thing that this show does correctly. Coming from the same studio that brought us Fallout, The Boys, Invincible, and a few other great shows? I am beyond disappointed. I'm LIVID! Here's my rant about it.
Whether we dedicate time to creating great tomes of literary works, private journals, academic essays and treatises, we all face the same manner of inhibitions: writers block, envy, self doubt, giving ourselves excuses and ways out of doing what we need to do to succeed. We can overcome these roadblocks, I promise you!
If I cast a spell with a wand and all my problems are solved......did I learn or gain anything? I didnt go on any kind of journey or fact finding mission, I just solved my problems. Is that a build up of hubris? And does it make for lazy story creations?
I've never seen a Disney failure so bad that they PULL MERCH! It certainly does NOT bode well for Disney Lucasfilm whatsoever.
Wouldn't it be great to be able to prove or disprove any and all extraterrestrial conspiracy theories? Just to KNOW for certain whats real and what isn't?
