Following this, the gang heads right into a preliminary discussion on Makoto Shinkai, and some of his traits as a director. Then the duo has a mix up and is forced to do encapsulated reviews on early Shinkai film VOICES OF A DISTANT STAR and THE PLACE PROMISED TO US IN OUR EARLY DAYS (which Tommy keeps confusing with The Place Beyond the Pines). After that, it's the epically epic FIVE CENTIMETRES PER SECOND, which is revered by both hosts. After that, Umer and Tommy finish with THE GARDEN OF LOST WORDS, which leads to a discussion on the awkwardness of student teacher relationships, and finally CHILDREN WHO CHASE LOST VOICES, in which Tommy comments on why the hell does Shinkai feel the need to have stupid long titles. Then its time for the SUPER HURE MEGA ANNOUNCEMENT THINGY, which is super important and is crucial to the further endeavours of this podcast.
