There are a lot of reading lists out right now... what great people read in 2024 or the best reads for starting 2025.  These can help direct you to some incredible authors and information.  Yet one of the most common questions Brian and I get asked is, "What should I read?"  The answer is always, "It depends on what you are trying to do or what you are focused on."  Reading for the sake of reading is great.  However, one of our mentors, Chris Robinson, once taught that what you are reading or listening to should have a direct correlation to what you want to be learning or changing. Because we agree that your reading should be intentional, we've decided to create suggested reading according to topics like, overcoming fears, relationship building, communication, financial health, team building, etc. We will be sharing the list twice a month in an email.  If you'd like to subscribe, https://www.leadershipharbor.com/email  We promise there won't be a ton! In your hands, you hold the seeds of failure or the potential for greatness.  Your hands are capable, but they must be used for the right things, to reap the rewards you are capable of attaining.  The choice is yours.  Zig Ziglar Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence. You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your relatives. We have found that every family has the uncle or aunt who has some definate opinions and sharing them can create tension during the family dinners and celebration of the holidays.  Maybe a little perspective, or at least a couple of great ideas to help you steer the conversation into pleasant paths and keep the ruffled feathers at bay. Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence. Connecting The Dots

Connecting The Dots

2024-11-1316:02

Jon gordon has done many presentations all over the globe, helping teams (mostly sports teams) learn to connect better with each other.  We love his 4 C's!  Brian and Kris also see the application in any setting where there is a group of people gathered or working together.  With the holidays coming up, we thought we'd share some ideas to connect people with each other.  This advice can work in any team setting, AND also in your family gatherings.  We have even found that having this trick in your back pocket can keep the uncomfortable conversations and intense fellowship that can happen from becoming the focus of the holiday. Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence. A Share of the Pie

A Share of the Pie

2024-10-3014:09

Abundance Mindset - Our attitude and the way we think about things. What we think about determines what we see.  What we see determines what we do. What we do determines what we get. Let's say it with pie. If I only have 1 pie, I will protect it. If I have multiple pies, I'll think abundantly and share it.  What if I only have the 1 pie?  Simple.  Bake more pies so you can give it away. Keep thinking the new stuff.  Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence. Laughing With Conflict

Laughing With Conflict

2024-10-2317:36

What if the conflicts in your present that came from your past are preparing you for your future? There is a conflict inside before there is a conflict on the outside. You have to solve the inside conflict before you can solve the outside conflict. And in order to do that, you have to be curious.  Hmmmmm .... Here's another thought ... Laughter is a tangible evidence of hope.  Micheal Jr is a comdeian who finds the humor of everyday laugh and makes it funnier.  We recently sat at his feet (well, a few feet from the stage he was on lol) and we learned how the conflicts of his childhood prepared him to find the humor in situations.  Listen in on the dock as Kris and Brian talk about these applications in their lives. Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence. Raise The Bar

Raise The Bar

2024-10-1613:08

We recently had an opportunity to hear Chante Lowe - 4 time Olympic champion - talk about her mindset.  To be a successful high jumper, you have to keep raising the bar.  This is the same thing you must do to become a better leader, parent, employee, employer, etc.  You begin by first leading yourself.  The real question is, "How?" Have a listen to learn the how... Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence. We don't know about you, but both Brian & Kris want more courage to fail.  We want to go further faster , and we've learned that's where courage comes in handy! By failing, we  find what is actually possible for me/us/you.  So where does a person find that kind of courage?  Have a listen to this episode and find out! Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence.  Want to know more about Brian, Kris or Leadership Harbor? www.leadershipharbor.com

Let's Talk Food

Know what you want - average, good, true quality.  We can take short cuts or go the easy way, but that doesn't always get us what we really want.  Leadership and Food are similiar that way.   Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence. Habit Changing Ways

Habit Changing Ways

2024-09-0418:51

Often times we want to change a habit to get a certain outcome. So we focus more on the outcome than we do the behaviors that will change the habit.  What if we focus on WHAT we want to achieve?  How would that make a habit change easier or harder?  What if we focused on WHO we want to become rather than what we want to achieve? Brian & Kris discuss habit changes they want to make based on the methods of a couple of their favorite habit focused books. Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence. "The instant you accept responsibility for everything in your life is the moment you acquire the power to change it." Ed Mylett Taking responsibility  - especially if you are a perfectionist or don't want to make others unhappy with you - is hard.  How do we move beyond that desire to CYA and step into the world of responsibility?  This episode will discuss how we have to take responsibility and hold others accountable.  Believe it or not, Responsibility & Accountability are kind. When we aren't accomplishing what we "want" or we just can't seem to take the next step or just feel plain ol' stuck.... Why? What is the reason/justification that it is the task/idea/goal is not completed?  What is within your control? What is truly outside of your control? What should you be adapting to that you can control? Is the reason you have not adapted to a new situation yet? Is the reason there is no action/learning/activity because it is not within your focus/priorities? Chalene Johnson says, "Excuses are lies that nobody believes except for you." Let's peel back a layer and see why our motivations aren't motivating. Come out on the Dock and enjoy the conversation.  If you have any future topics or have questions about this episode/topic, please send them to questions@leadershipharbor.com Leadership Harbor LLC empowers people to realize their potential with confidence and influence. Win/Win

Win/Win

2024-08-1416:11

What's your desired outcome? Win-Win Win-Lose Lose-Win Lose-Lose Here's a hint to our suggested choice: "You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want." Zig Ziglar
Multiplication - To add growth, lead followers - To multiply, lead leaders.  It's great when you've built up your leadership and created influence.  Does your team make decisions or turn to you to make all decisions?  Are they feeling valued and purposeful or like they are "just employees doing your bidding"? The real question is, are you wanting to use your influence leading followers or leaders?  The easy answer is .....  Average leaders raise the bar on themselves; good leaders raise the bar for others; great leaders inspire others to raise their own bar.
