Description

Hey there!

I sit and chat with a wide ranging set of individuals from both inside and on the outside of the Tabletop/RPG/Boardgame industry about their experience, insight, & motivations.

Put on a show whilst you are painting and hear the stories behind your fellow geekers and the people that created the games you know and love.

I hope you enjoy.

This week I talk to Dave Schmidt. Dave is not only a hobby nerd like us but he is also a self published author. He writes the Clay and Aether saga and he’s not done! He is writing more books as we speak, maybe at this very moment, so be quiet, dont disrupt him. It was great to talk to Dave, he is one of our own, he’s been a member of the PATM discord for ages and he is always a positive presence and influence on those around him, thanks Dave, was a great chat and we all wish you the very best. Dave also sent us a snipped of one of his books and we can listen to that right after the intro, so if you like it you can check out the audiobooks or ye’olde’skool read if yourself versions. Its on Amazon, I picked up the series the other week and I have a bit of holiday coming up sooooooo, I am on it!  PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Rodman Hellman, you’ll get that joke in a bit. We talk about what has been happening for him since we spoke back in 2017 and then go on to talk about his rule set County Road Z. County Road Z is a co op post apocalyptic game, it sounds super fun and it is one on my christmas/birthday list. I’m not going to go into the show more as it is nice to just listen to it unfold as we go.  PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Alex of the Alex Paints Tiny Things Youtube channel. We have the usual rambly chat about his hobby history, likes, and highlights. We dig into a big of competitive painting, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I am pretty sure I mention it in the show, but I generalise Scottish people a little in the show, I just wanted to ensure that I mention that this is in jest, and I am totally and fully aware that you cant generalise people, it was just a lighthearted bit of banter. I dont think it was too savage, but I just thought I would throw it out there.  It was great fun talking to Alex, he was insightful and interesting and his video work makes for a positive learning experience.    PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Stephen Baker the world renowned game designer. Stephen’s work includes but is not limited to Heroquest, Battle Masters, and Space Crusade. This is the first of….some podcasts Stephen and I will have.  I wanted to take the time to get to know him and really discuss things as opposed to rushing or just him feeling like we were superficially pumping him for click baity answers to questions that he has probably been asked a thousand times. So in this show we get to know him, his hobby history, and any interesting tid bits that popped up as we chatted. We end this show ready to discuss Heroquest and its genesis.  Thanks to Stephen for coming onto the show!  PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Chris from the Offbeat Builds Youtube channel. Chris creates videos of himself kitbashing Warhammer 40k models and his videos are slick and he is also a chipper and funny chap so his work is always good value. Chris came across as a really nice guy and I was very fortunate to be able to spend a while with him, I had a good few chuckles when I was listening back during the edit, I hope you enjoy listening to it also. Thanks Chris for coming onto the show, I hope we find common cause to chat again in the future. If you are into kitbashing, or want to be, go check Offbeat Builds out.  PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Tom of Warriors Table Wargaming YouTube channel. Tom and accomplices put together a whole bunch of stuff for us to watch and listen to from The Walking Dead All Out War to Malifaux, and Moonstone, amongst others.  It was fun talking to Tom as he has very clear opinions and ideas about what he does and that made for an interesting conversation. I wont spoil any of the content here as you can follow along like you were there with us, but you may want to look up what a pie butty is, and also what pea wet is! Thanks to Tom for coming onto the show and for all the effort he goes to for the community. PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Ed about why he loves the tabletop skirmish game Space Weirdos. I love these shows, they are the purest form of our podcast. Ed didnt write the game, he’s not got anything to gain about selling it to you. He just loves is, and wants to share that with us, and thats amazing!!!! Thanks to Ed for taking the time to come onto the show, it was a pleasure to meet him and to speak to him. If you are a Space Weirdo then I hope you feel happy that your common love is getting some world attention. A little like Patrick Swazye in Dirty Dancing “No one puts Space Weirdos in the corner” Anyway listen to the chatter, we start out talking about Southern Softies and we go from there.  PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I talk to Scott Wainwright, the creator of the Brutality rule sets, he also has a Youtube channel called Let’s Talk Tabletop. Let’s Talk Tabletop is a reflective and philosophic inquiry into our hobby and Brutality rule sets give you the ability to play lots of genres with a similar set of guiding principles. Its always great to talk to creative people about their mentalities and ethos’s and Scott was no exception. I wont ruin or spoil any of the chat here by signposting it, but we hope that you enjoy the show and I must thank Scott for coming onto the show and giving up an hour of his consciousness to chat with us.   PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/dAYXASPJ
This week I talk once more to Mr Roger Yates of the Duncan Rhodes Painting Academy. We spoke back in episode 230 so if you haven’t listened to that one you may want to as this is a continuation of that chat and we delve into what has been happening in recent times with the paint line, and also a lot of chat into the future. It was another fun chat with Roger and it was nice of him to give up another hour of his time to chat to us, thanks Rog.  I talk about it in the show but I exclusively use the Two Thin Coats range of paints now, and I wouldnt throw your current paints out the window to go and buy all 180 of their paints, but if you are in the market for a new red, or a new leather brown or what not, then give a couple of their paints a go. I painted all of my Baratheons with Two Thin Coats paints, you can check out the article on paintalltheminis.co.uk and see the results. I do a lot of yellow there so you can see how the paint deals with my mediocre talents! PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/dAYXASPJ
This week I talk once more to Ronnie Renton of Mantic Games. We chat about what Mantic have been up to recently and also what they are up to in the near future. We chat about The Walking Dead All Out War, Halo, Epic Warpath, and a bunch of other stuff.  Ronnie is just a great guy who is infectiously enthusiastic and positive about our hobby, and he works extremely hard. He is always going somewhere or doing something. Great guy. We hope you enjoy the show.
Heeeeyyyyoooooo, Another chance to hear from you, from us, the PATM hobby nerds! Thanks to everyone for listening and getting involved.  PATM discord: https://discord.gg/CAAF9DGn

He has written and contributed to Warhammer Fantasy, GURPS, Pathfinder, Dungeons and Dragons, and within the videogame industry to name just a few. It was great to talk to Graeme for the show and I am sure I speak for all of us when I say thanks for giving up some time to chat to us all.  Discord Link: https://discord.gg/gNFNvVQU 250th episode Q’s (Get them in by July 21) What brought you to PATM, what do you like about it? This week I speak to Mark, a fellow hobby nerd and a general all round good chap. We do the usual chat about hobby history and initial steps and meander along picking out salient points along the way. Thanks for coming onto the show Mark, I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope you, the listener, enjoy it too.  PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4 PATM 250th Episode questions (Send to Paintalltheminis@gmail.com) What brought you to PATM, what do you like about it? This week I speak again to Will Rahman-daultrey, the creator of Forbidden Psalm, The Last War, and the upcoming Hope is for the Dead game.  We spoke to Will back in episode 241 so if you want to hear about him, his background, and The Last War/Forbidden Psalm you can go back and listen to that, this episode we split our time between talking about his new game and some general design principles he appreciates when it comes to tabletop games.  As this episode comes out on July the 4th, Hope is for the Dead is still available to back on Kickstarter, you can back it for 10 quid, 10 dabs, 10 knicker, which I think is a pretty good deal. If you like the sound of it you can check it out.  Thanks once more to Will for giving up an hour of his time to talk to me.  PATM Discord link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4 250th Episode Questions (send to paintalltheminis@gmail.com) What brought you to PATM, what do you like about it? Twas a fine chat, we hope you enjoy it.  Thanks to Mark for coming onto the show, always a fun time.  PATM Discord Link: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I speak to Troy who runs the awesome Sonic Sledgehammer Studio Youtube channel. Troy is a first timer here on PATM so we do the deep dive into his backstory and spend some time pecking in parts that jumped out during the chat. I deeply enjoy Troy’s work on his channel, I think what he tries to achieve is fantastic along with his attitude, mentality, and outlook towards our hobby. He is a great personality and the hobby is richer because of people like him being in it. Thanks so much to Troy for coming on, hopefully we can chat again in the future.  PATM Discord: https://discord.gg/eHYTf4Z7t4
This week I speak to Forrest Harris of Knuckleduster Miniatures. Forrest is just a brilliant human being first and foremost, but he is also the owner/operator of Knuckleduster. Knuckleduster make Gunfighters Ball and Gunfight Royale, both Wild West themed tabletop games, but you can also buy STL’s of and also physical versions of many Wild West themed minis. We talk about it in the show so I wont spoil any of it. Not the first time Forrest has been on so if you want to hear his back story you can listen to episode 194. I backed the 2nd kickstarter (vol 4-6), and have just backed the 3rd (#7-9) of Dave's "art of..." I'm hoping to get #1-3 (maybe as b'day/xmas) I love the coffee table collection vibe of them, how each book is uniquely written & styled, depending on the author. So, thanks Dave for the celebration. AND a massive thank you for broadcasting this interview. Insightful, interesting and in-depth. Bravo, long may you continue to create such content 👏👏👏👏👏
