Alex Jude ( formerly Alex Mabey) made her debut this past few months with a new name and new music, gleaning from her early releases of americana/christian music to a mainstream sound that is bringing her to festivals this year across the country. She’ll make her debut @TMRfest in June on the main stage in Historic Downtown McKinney on June 6th with more singles released between now and then. I heard her “Living to Learn “ song with a catchy chorus, “ so what if happens and what if it hurts, I’ve been through the worse, I’m livin’ to learn. (Sounds like a pep talk to yourself. ) she’s a precious soul that’s singing of her experience through heartache and a sense of humility & peace.

Lots of deep dives this week into Todd Snider and there’s so much great content out there. Do yourselves a favor and follow Otis Gibbs and particularly his documentary “ I was a nervous wreck”. Otis has a piece out there also imploring us not to fall prey to conspiracy theories surrounding his death… instead let’s all find ways to bring a smile to our faces through Todd’s countless stories and music and poetry. Like many out there we will be dedicating our show this week to Todd and his amazing gift of humankind and authenticity. He wasn’t just a singer songwriter- A philanthropist, a strong voice for the at risk, a music troubadour, a hippie and he had a childlike appreciation for the things that matter most. Rest in peace & love - all the struggles are over now. #TexasTroubadour

Coyle Girelli is my guest this week to share his new release “Out of This Town”, on Sun Records, a collaboration project with the late, Texas native, Mac Davis (“Baby Don’t Get Hooked on Me”, so many of Elvis’s biggest hits, and so much more!). This album takes you on a journey the way many great records did in my formative years. When a story was told, beginning when the needle first hit the vinyl, till the last lyric was sung. I was so moved by Coyle, and it is easy to understand why Mac reached out to him after seeing him on the David Letterman show a decade ago. Be sure to listen this week, Coyle is a special kind of artist.
