Description

Cori and Bryan started this podcast as an activity that they and their children could do together, but alas the children grew up so now their pal Patrick is along for the ride. Come join them, as well as some special guests along the way, for some perfectly cromulent discussion about everything Simpsons. Join them as they discuss a variety of topics, and episode breakdowns where they compare their thoughts of the show growing up and seeing if their outlook has changed, as adults and parents.

In this episode the Budnik/Scarupa Clan takes the show into unchartered territory, Season 32?!?!?! That's right The Simpsons is still making new episodes and we take a look at this episode that checks so many of Cori's likes. This episode has everything; Grandpa, True Crime podcasts, Karen and Georgia, Lisa and Marge bonding time, and yes even Skarsgards. So put down that shrimp from that shrimp tower and listen in as the family breaks down this recent episode.
Well we admittedly made a mistake with this episode as there was some confusion between the episode that Brenden wanted and the episode that we took a look at. The episode shows Professor Frink develop his own cryptocurrency and becomes quite wealthy as well as finding some new friend. Not willing to become the second richest man in Springfield Mr. Burns decides to make his own and ultimately usurp Frink of his postion. This episode starts of with just Bryan and Brenden, as Cori was not feeling up to recording but she realizes that she couldn't stay away and shows up halfway through to defend Mariah Carey. Cailin also makes a brief appearance to give you a recommendation.  The episode was the most cryptocurrency episode that ever cryptocurrencied. Along the way the gang is rather critical of this modern episode, but they do find their way to some high points. Bryan loves the Jim Parsons cryptocurrency bit, while Brenden has the realization that this episode is rather similar to a Dhar Mann video. After having a heatfelt moment Cori has another Hello Therapist moment as well as professing her love for googly eyes. Brenden ends the episode with a rant on cryptocurrency and apologizes for the confusion in selected this episode. I guess that's what we get for selected a current one.  Available now on Spotify, Stitcher, Apple and Google Podcasts or wherever you find your podcasts!
In this episode the family takes a look and another more recent episode, from Season 30, E My Sports. This is no love fest as they breakdown this episode with a more critical eye than you are used to hearing. The episode is praised for it's attempts at trying something new and for it's realistic portrayal of the E Sports community but that might have left some gaps in other areas. Brenden is able to bring some expertise to a topic that Bryan and Cori know little about. So put on that headset, settle in to your favorite gaming chair and get ready for some great discussion. As always thank you for the support and don't forget to subscribe.
The Budnik-Scarupa family is back with this holiday themed episode from Season 22. Not going to lie it’s a weird one as we see the Christmas dreams of 4 of the family members. The segments are disjointed, nonsensical, end abruptly and at times are just straight up disturbing, maybe like some of your holiday plans this year. Brenden sat this one out because he wasn’t feeling well, but Bryan and Cori try to keep with the holiday feel. Cori loves Spiderman spoilers, but don’t worry she doesn’t say any and brings us a festive hello therapist session. She us gives us her top 3 Christmas songs, and boy do they run the gamut. Each of them have sing along segments as well as detailing their top Christmas movies. They discuss Katie Perry’s very off putting closing comment, but they don’t let that bring them down. So put on your favorite ugly Christmas sweeter, sip some hot cocoa and buckle up for a rather interesting conversation about this krazy kaladescope of an episode. The whole gang is back for this episode to start off the spooky season with a look at Treehouse of Horror XX. This episode contains an Alfred Hitchcock parody, a zombie story and lastly a Sweeney Todd influenced theatre production. With everyone being back that leads to the triumphant return of the Useless Weather Update. We also answer some viewer email, and recast 2 horror themed films. Come along for the ride and as always thank you for the support!
So sorry for the delay but we're finally back! Some have said that this episode from Season 19 would have been the perfect way to end the show, I guess they didn't realize it would still be going strong 15 years later with no signs of stopping. The episode places Homer in a precarious position where he doesn't remember a seemingly traumatic experience from the night before. As he tries to put the pieces back together he realizes what a lucky man he truly is.  We were a bit torn over this one and go deep, not only in our thoughts of the episode as a whole, but how we would feel if this would have been the final episode of the show. Along the way Cori tells us about her chiropractor and the connection between Jack the Ripper and H.H. Holmes. Bryan fears that due to the time away that she might have developed a case of the yipps. He also announces some Season 34 news and Brenden is not happy about it. They then go on to debate the appeal of "newer" Simpsons episodes. Can an epiode that is over 10 years old be considered new? We increase our online impact with our first Instagram comment and reveal the results of the Ewan McGreggor mullet poll. We also discuss our favorite donuts, Brenden learns what nighttime minutes are and searnades us with a song from his 4th grade musical. Lastly Cori and Bryan discuss their My Chemical Romance experience with Lu. This was a good one and we hope that it was worth the wait!  Want to reach out to us? This is the second of two Sideshow Bob episodes as we see what happened to Sideshow Bob after his last attempt to get Bart, when the family meets up with him unexpectedly in Italy. Brenden had to set this one out due to scheduling conflicts so Cori and Bryan take it over. Cori gets upset over the dumming down of the Italian language for this episode and she may have her own vendetta against Disney? Bryan tells the truth behind Veggie Tales and discusses the joys of the tv cart being rolled into your classroom. Lastly, Cori tells us that she had a shot to be on the Mickey Mouseclub, if only she lived in Orlandon in the 90s. This was another fun one and we hope that you can join us. Available now on Spotify, Stitcher, Apple and Google Podcasts or wherever you find your podcasts.
In this episode we have the first of two upcoming episodes featuring the the triumphant return of fan favorite Sideshow Bob. This episode shows us the importance of backdoor deals and Bob helps the Simpson family discover who is trying to kill Homer. He is actually an huge help and puts his hatred of Bart on the backburner, with a little persuasion from an electric zapper. For the first time in a long time we do talk about Twitter, as it is brought up a few times in the Eye on Springfield segment. London makes a brief appearance to tell us all about Charley DiMillio. Brenden thinks that Frasier and Kramer are the same person and is told all about George Foreman and his famous grill. Bryan looks back fondly on RC Cola and has to set Brenden straight on the difference between it and Crown Royal. Is Milwaukee a state? We take a moment to discuss. Cori also tells us about a true to life experience inspired by Wayne's World and involving the band Reel Big Fish. That trip to the Swordfish Museum can wait listen to this episode now on Spotify, Stitcher, Apple and Google Podcasts or wherever you find your podcasts.
Episode 14: Homer the Moe

Episode 14: Homer the Moe

2020-03-2101:18:40

We're not going to let COVID-19 get in our way to bring you our newest episode.  Cailin has the reins for this one and she chose an episode from Season 13 featuring her favorite character, Moe.  Find out which Simpsons cast member could be creeping on your Instagram.  We've gone International as we welcome some new listeners to the podcast as well as discovering where you would end up if you dug a hole straight down.  Cailin gives us some not so great weather advice, while Cori mentions some dread that can come from a 2020 Wolf Calendar, of all things.  We might not have any gorilla concerts this time but we do have an update on Dean.  This episode brought to you, as always, by Anchor.  Thank you for your support!
Do you like Boy Bands? Well if so have we got a doozey for you! In this episode we see a government conspiracy lead to the formation of Springfield's first boyband the Party Posse. And let's not forget about the special appearance by N'Sync. Cori has a lot to say about boy bands and sends us down an extensive boy band breakdown, as well as telling us which band she met at a local K-Mart in her youth. She also ranks her favorite members of N'Sync. Bryan tells us who the Simpson's creators originally wanted instead of N'Sync and the joke that they played on Justin Timberlake.  Brenden learns about VJs and asks if this episode ripped of the Josie and the Pusscats movie that came out around the same time. So come kick it with us old school, Word! Just a quick disclaimer Cori was feeling better but was still not 100% so we did the best we could to edit out her coughing but a few may have still made it in.
In this episode we see the real story of everyone's favorite Northern Kentucky family, The Simpsons (warts and all) ala a parody of VH1's seminal hit Behind the Music. Bryan tells us about the origins of the episode as well as other places the Simpsons are reportedy from. Brenden learns about Tiger Beat and VH1, and tells us why they call him the Apple Meister. Cori is shocked to find out that VHS tapes still existed in the early 2000's and discusses a few more crushes. We also talk about big budget music videos, all the Tiger Beat worthy boys from back in the day and come up with some new prank show names. Even Dean makes a brief but memorable appearance, our apolgies if you can hear is collar during parts of the episode. We had a lot of fun with this one and for the first time ever all seem to agree on our thoughts about the episode. We hope you enjoy it!
In this episode the whole family is back together again after some brief time away. Just in time (well a week late) for Comic Con they bring you a great one from Season 10 guest starring Mark Hamill. We answer some forgotten listener emails and Bryan talks about Mark Hamill's feelings on being asked to be on The Simpsons as well as a recap of the Simpsons panel from Comic Con at Home. Cori gets emotional saying goodbye to Regis but balances it out with some hilarious talk about Weekend at Bernies. Listen in as Cailin and Brenden are alienated from some conversation as Bryan and Cori talk about references from way before they were born. Cailin also tries to justify her love for Moe, once again. We really enjoyed recording this one for you and we hope you enjoy listening to it! Thank you for the support!
On this episode we take a look at the Simpson family trip to New York City and discuss how this eisode had a lot of funny moments but realy doesn't offer much in the way of story. Brenden tells his story of getting his first speeding ticket while weighing in on Billie Ellish and is shocked to find out how long ago Ferris Bueller was released. Bryan pitches some new story ideas that might have improved the episode and discusses a joke from the episode that doesn't really hold up. Cori tells a story about having to pee during her sonogram and announces that she is retiring the News and Views segment. We also argue about the timing of the Trump/Simpsons connection and it's contribution to the Simpsons prediction phenomenon. So sit back, relax, pour yourself a tall glass of crab juice and enjoy the ride.
In this episode the Budnik/Scarupa family takes a look at the decades old battle of science vs. religion when they breakdown Lisa the Skeptic. Brenden takes one side in the discussion while Cori takes the other, and shares some experiences she has had with the spiritual world. Cailin sits this one out and it is too bad she did as there are many fantastic Moe lines in this one. Bryan leads the discussion on the status of certain outdated characters and if they should be retired or not. The family also mentions how this episode holds a mirror (and no not Cori's Romper Room Mirror) up to society and how it still holds true today. It may be 2020 but there is talk about Smashmouth and how the Heavenly Hills Mall looks oddly familiar. If you like what you hear tell a friend and don't forget to rate and subscribe. Thank you for the support!
Episode 19: Homer's Phobia

Episode 19: Homer's Phobia

2020-06-1201:44:15

In this episode the Budnik/Scarupa Family tries to celebrate the beginning of Pride month with this great episode, co starring John Waters, from Season 8, that helped Homer lesson the stigma around homosexual themes in Springfield.   Listen in as the family discusses the importance of this episode as a television touchstone that helped, pave the way for a greater understanding and visibility of the LGBTQ movement within media.  Cori continues her "therapy sessions" and Bryan introduces the family to the horror that is real life renderings of The Simpsons.  Cailin argues for the freedom to eat where she wants and Brenden continues to share his love of all things Magic the Gathering.  London also stopped in a few time, even though she refuses to come on mic, lol.  This episode available now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher and wherever fine podcasts are found. PLEASE NOTE: This episode was recorded right as the reaction to the death of George Floyd was starting so yes his death was discussed, briefly, but not to the level that this subject deserves as it was all still unfolding at the time.
In this episode we take a look and 2 separate stories from the same episode. Bart has a crisis of faith and sells his soul to his buddy Milhouse and Moe has a crisis of finances and decides to rebrand his bar as a family restaurant. We each have different beliefs in regards to Religion and use these beliefs to break this one down. But that isn't all we also discuss the following:   - Cori gives out some new nicknames to some of our listerners. - Brenden tells us his thoughts on the recent Drew Barrymore cameo. - Who needs Miss Piggie when you can have Madam Pig? - Once again we bring you more timely references. - Cori's connection to Inda Gadda Da Vida and her Sabres game bag trauma. - How do you pronounce Will Ferrell? -Bryan teaches Brenden about Pogs, and there is some confuison beteween Alf and Elf We'd love for you to join us for this one!
In this episode we look at a Christmas classic from season 7: Marge Be Not Proud. We also discuss unwanted presents, creepy Santa pics, and the sporting event of the century known as Slippery Stairs. Cori continues her clapping to the annoyance of Bryan and threatens him to not edit them out, so sorry dear listener if they are annoying! We had a lot of fun on this episode and it shows by all of the laughter on this one. If you're, "Looking for excitement?!?!?!" You've come to the right place. Thank you as always for your support!
Episode 18: King Size Homer

Episode 18: King Size Homer

2020-05-2901:29:34

In this episode the Budnik/Scarupa clan is back to tackle this episode from Season 7.  Cori continues to wonder about Gigi Hadid and uses this episode to deal with some childhood trauma  ("Hello therapist?").  Cailin tells an inadvertent Haiku during the Useless Weather Update and can't stop laughing at Cori.  Bryan tries to hold everything together and mentions how Simpsons creator Bill Oakley finally admits that the show can tell the future.  Brenden continues to question everything and is very excited to talk about the terrible idea of having children on a reality show.  So grab your best rag on a stick and set up the drinking bird because it is time for a new episode!
For this episode we decided to give Marge some love and go back to the hey day of the show as we look at the season 6 episode, The Fear of Flying. In the episode Marge reveals that she has a deeprooted fear of flying and gets some help to try to overcome it. Our hosts break it all down for you with a lot of fun along the way. Cori says hello to some ball playing boys and asks the age old question are you Team Dylan or Team Brandon. Brenden and Bryan also discuss the history of the couch gag and whether it should be changed. They all talk about the similarities between the songs, It's Raining Men and Bodies, as well as having a discussion about a real dog wedding. We hope that you will send your tots and pears for Dean, and hope you enjoy the show!
In this episode the Budnik-Scarupa family sees Mr. Burns turn maniacal in his plot to block out the sun, in order to force the residents of Springfield into using more energy from his plant. Of course the residents don't take this lightly and someone takes matters into their own hands, but who was it? Along the way we discuss the popping collars trend, alienating Brenden, once again, with timely references and Cori has trouble pronouncing certain words. She also accuses Bryan of forcing her to record even though she is sick, so we'll let you be the judge of that. This is an episode that we think will really blow smoke up your dress! Please be advised if you don't know how the Mr. Burns saga ends there is a spoiler at the end that you may want to avoid. Thanks for listening!
