We all know in an alternate universe, you are still you, just with a few differences right? That’s just science! So what if in an alternate universe, you decided to go all in on a different hobby? Or maybe instead of multiple hobbies, you just focused on one? This month, we’re taking a look at how alternate universe versions of ourselves might have turned out. What would the version of you look like that just did retro gaming? Or board games? Or model trains?Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray Andrew, Cyrus Martin, Shaun McLaren, Joseph MorolesLike the show? Support us by rating and reviewing wherever you listen. We're revisiting a classic topic we haven't done in years. What happens when you take a children's book and add monsters to it? You get Green Eggs and Ham and Dracula or The Little Engine That Could Survive the Zombie Horde. What new awesome horror versions of your kid's bedtime stories will we come up with this time?Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray Andrew, Cyrus MartinLike the show? The Sphere in Las Vegas has been a bit of an oddity since it was built. While some musicians and bands are finding interesting ways to perform there, the adaptation of The Wizard of Oz they are doing is turning heads! Giant wind machines are being used to simulate the tornado, complete with flying debris and A.I. is being used to fill the entire inside with a view of Oz never seen before. So of course we thought, what else would be awesome to watch that way? This month we're coming up with movies we would like to see get "The Sphere Treatment."Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray Andrew, Cyrus MartinLike the show? Would you buy a movie collection that consisted of Cast Away, Captain Phillips, Apollo 13, and Sully? Besides all being great movies starring Tom Hanks, they also have a common theme; Don’t Travel with Tom Hanks! This month, we’re creating our own movie collections with a common theme. Maybe they all share the same actor, or director, or maybe they are all about the same thing. Or maybe only the person coming up with theme knows it. Keep your finger close to the pause button and play along!Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray Andrew, Shaun McLarenLike the show? Support us by rating and reviewing wherever you listen. Good movies usually come with a good pedigree; 4 or more stars out of 5, certified “fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, Two Thumbs Up from the original masters of the movie review. But we’ve all seen reviews that make you wonder if that person was even watching the same movie you were. This month, we’re trying our hand at writing some bad reviews for good movies that would make anyone think, “what movie were they watching?”Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray AndrewLike the show? The soundtrack for a movie has a big impact on not just the scenes in the movie, but how it’s remembered as well. And when a movie focuses on the band producing the music, it’s even more impactful. This month, we’re doing a sweet 16 tournament of our favorite fictional bands that made the movies they appear in rock! Which band will take the top honor?Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray AndrewLike the show? Support us by rating and reviewing wherever you listen. It has been six years since we’ve been able to do the Summer Movie Game due to COVID and the writer’s strike that followed but it’s back baby! Hollywood has finally started cranking out enough movies we can have a big enough field to choose from and we’re taking advantage of it. So before you head over to the site and make your picks, check out this month’s episode where we discuss which movies should be in your top 10, possibly make your dark horse list, or don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell as this summer heats up at the theaters.Click here to enter: https://www.epicallygeeky.com/summer-movie-gameHost: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray Andrew, Shaun McLarenLike the show? There are some movies that should never be remade because they are classics, or they are too much of their time, or one of several other reasons. So of course this month we’re going to remake them. But not just remake them, ruin them on purpose using some of the worst tropes used in movies today. Imagine Jaws but it now begins with seeing the shark being hurt by humans or seeing it’s mother killed in front of it. Because even the murderous shark needs a backstory.Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray Andrew, Shaun McLarenLike the show? Support us by rating and reviewing wherever you listen. If you were a child of the 70’s, 80’s or 90’s, you probably heard, “I’m sure you will grow out of it, “ about sevral things. Toys, Lego, comics, and especially video games. And while we may not dabble in some of those other hobbies still, video games is something a lot of of never put down. But that’s not to say our relationship hasn’t changed with them. Work, family, friends moving away, and modern online gaming have all changed the way we play, not to mention, when, how, and how often. This month we’re discussing what it’s like to be an adult who still picks up a controller to play from time to time.Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Ray Andrew, Shaun McLaren, Cyrus Martin, Louis VasquezLike the show? It’s taken several years, but it looks like the media industries have finally gotten back to their pre-COVID levels. The writer’s strike didn’t help either. And with so many movies, TV shows, video games, and books coming out in 2025, we had to make our lists of what we are most excited about in the coming year.Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray Andrew, Shaun McLaren, Joseph MorolesLike the show? This month we discuss the items you would need to collect to bring us back: something you eat, something you drink, something you burn, something you wear, something you bless and something deeply personal. But did you also know we have done mock debates between fictional characters in the past? (episode 13 & 132) Well now you do and it’s time for another mock debate! One of the best things about being a parent is being able to share the things we love with our kids including movies. But we can’t just show them everything all at once; babies aren’t going to fully comprehend Inception. And five year olds probably shouldn’t be watching Friday the 13th… but your mileage may vary. This month we make a list of all of the movies we’d like to show our kids so we can check them off as they grow up and the time is right.Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray Andrew, Joseph MorolesLike the show? Remember that short-lived show, The Muppets, which was like The Office… but with Muppets? Yeah, me either. But it sounded like an awesome idea right? This month we are taking fiction characters and casting them into different jobs. And to make it interesting, we assigned the groups and the jobs to each other. Could the cast of The Next Generation end up working at a Taco Bell? Could He-Man and the Masters of the Universe be running an automotive repair shop? Only one way to find out!Host: Eugene StephensGuests: Kris Andrew, Ray Andrew, Joseph MorolesLike the show? Movie tie-in popcorn containers have become a big thing. It was one thing to get a popcorn tin with the movie characters and logo on the side, but now you can get a container in the shape of an Ecto-1 complete with lights! Another year has come and gone and we’re looking back at our favorite movies, TV shows, books and other media from 2023.
