What was once a patreon-exclusive staple has been brought to the main show. We couldn't let it die, but it's a little different doing it with two people. We might make some changes to the format moving forward. However, you actually get two DIFFERENT movies with this one!

This week on CinemaChat, we’re reviewing Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025), the latest Benoit Blanc mystery from Rian Johnson. We dig into how this third installment shifts the tone of the franchise, leans into themes of faith and community, and whether it stands up to its Knives Out predecessors. Tune in to hear what we thought and where this one lands on our franchise rankings!

In this episode Reggie and I discuss what the sale of Warner Bros means and who we think will/should(?) be the company to take the reigns. It is a pretty good discussion even though we align closely on almost everything here.

You might think this jaunt back into horror is ill-timed, but the joke is on you! This movie is set in the winter! We're talking about Black Phone 2 (2025). Can this franchise really continue after the death of The Grabber in part 1? Well, obviously...

This week we are back to reviewing movies with The Running Man (2025). This remake of an 80's sci-fi Arnold flick follows Stephen King's book more faithfully. Is Glen Powell in full-fledged star mode? The box office seems to suggest you pump the brakes. What about his actual performance? Listen to find out.

Listen...we always start off with the best of intentions. We never say we will do something without the intention of doing it. When we gave you our plan about how we'd cover this topic in October, we said it might not happen that way. What we didn't expect was to be putting it all into one episode at the end of the month. Sometimes...life happens. Enjoy listening to us talk about our experience in October.

We're taking you back to the days of Dark Disney. For decades, this movie was difficult to find, but October 2025 sees it being added to Disney+. It has never been easier to watch.
This CHILDREN'S horror/sci-fi/fantasy movie released over 40 years ago, and we've heard a lot about it. Does it live up to the horror circle hype? Does it hold up for someone that's never seen it? Let's talk about Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983).

This is October's "Patron Review". It was requested by Jonathan and he's taking us to the world of found footage. Specifically, the world of vampire found footage. Does this low budget horror flick have what it takes to get a seal of approval? Listen to us review Afflicted (2013)!

Reggie and Brent get back together to talk about a potential Best Picture candidate (frontrunner?). In a movie with Leo, Benecio Del Toro and Sean Penn, who shines brightest? Everyone seems to think that Paul Thomas Anderson has a hit on his hands...do we agree? Let's talk about One Battle After Another (2025)

For our first episode of October, Reggie and I give you our list of the best horror movies in the 21st Century. What did we get wrong? What did we miss?
Every year, Reggie and I embark on a journey to watch 31 horror movies in 31 days during the month of October. Some years are more successful than others. This year, we hope to provide you with mini reviews of most/every movie that we watch. We will probably do this in batched solo reviews. No promises, but it should be fun.
We'd love for you to join us. Watch some horror movies and tell us what you think! There are no rules. I've created a spreadsheet of the biggest horror movies to have come since last Halloween. Feel free to utilize it. There are two tabs, but I recommend using "By service" if you're looking for something to watch! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pV3FAzHU2dAd2X82O75gFzhOGtR3YrilXpFSM9N1apw/edit?usp=sharing

Reggie and Brent are here to review our September patron request from Maff. It's a movie that neither of us (or many people in the United States) had seen! It's time to find out if this is another example of Daniel Radcliffe killing it after Harry Potter. Let's talk about Horns (2013).

Reggie and I couldn't sync up this week (our cycles are off), but I recorded a packed episode for you by myself. I hope you enjoy hearing about what I watched this week and what's coming out in September.
There's also some movie news! From Harry Potter and Highlander reboots to Dwayne Johnson’s wild new role and The Conjuring breaking box office records, this week’s movie news is packed with reboots, surprises, and big-screen magic.

This week’s episode was sparked by longtime patron ConstancioD, who asked a fun, behind-the-scenes question: What podcasts do we actually listen to—and why?
You’ll learn about our tastes beyond the big screen—like wrestling, scams, geek culture, comedy, and more—and what makes a podcast worth sticking with.
Non-Movie Podcasts We Love
Brent’s Picks
Kentucky Sports Radio (KSR) – Sports adjacent...they talk about a lot of non-sports stuff too. Maybe 40% sports.
Going In Raw – Pro wrestling talk.
Two Bears, One Cave – Comedians Tom Segura & Bert Kreischer. NSFW
Business Wars (Wondery) – Company rivalries like Netflix vs Blockbuster.
Reggie’s Picks
Ridiculous Crime – 99% murder-free true crime with flair.
Scamfluencers – Influencers who lied, conned, and scammed.
Pretend – True stories of people pretending to be someone else.
Swindled – White-collar crime with bite.

Ringerverse – Deep dives into all things fandom (Marvel, DC, etc).
Best Friends (Nicole Byer & Sasheer Zamata) – Friendship, comedy, and vibes.
The Big Flop – Hilarious takes on business failures.
My Mama Told Me – Black conspiracy theories (funny + thoughtful).
Dungeons & Comedians – D&D, jokes, and chaotic energy.
Movie (and Movie-Adjacent) Podcasts
Shared Picks
How Did This Get Made? – The gold standard in bad movie breakdowns.
CinemaChat Podcast and Ventchat – Hey, that’s us!
Brent’s Picks
Streaming Things – Beat-by-beat TV show coverage (Stranger Things, The Last of Us).
Scream with Ryan C. Showers – All Scream, all the time (plus other '90s horror).
The VHS Strikes Back – Movies only from the VHS era (pre-2005).
Now Playing Podcast – Deep-dive retrospectives on entire film franchises. Check out their retrospective list
Reggie’s Picks
The Villain Was Right – Comedy pod where villains are defended.
Black Men Can’t Jump [In Hollywood] – Focused on minority-led films and their impact.
Talk from Superheroes – Superhero movie reviews with serious analysis.
The Fandom Show – Guests gush over their obsessions (BTS, Taskmaster, Twin Peaks).
The Weekly Planet – Movies, TV, pop culture (Australian legends!).
Screen Drafts – Competitive movie lists from guests and hosts.
Huge thanks again to ConstancioD for the prompt—it sparked a wonderful, wide-ranging conversation.

Reggie and Brent are here to review our August patron request from Daggerd. It's a movie that was intended to stretch Reggie's perception of Will Ferrell, but it was actually Brent that had never seen it! Was it worth the wait for us to review, Stranger Than Fiction (2016).
