This week Joey and Cal are dreaming up the things they would change if we were solely focused on bird production and hunting success across the United States and Canada. We discuss the changes the EPA has made in rollbacks to the Clean Water Act and how it might affect bird populations and hunting. Sub-gauge shotguns offer a slightly different experience when duck hunting than a 10 or 12 gauge can and it’s hard to explain until you just go out and try it. Joey and Cal have been trying different things all year and we’ve been shooting 20’s for some time. This year we tried out a Weatherby Orion 28 SxS and a .410 and absolutely loved using these guns. So much happening in the sports world and much of it directly involves Minnesota sports teams. We start with the bidding line for Giannis and the wolves appeared very interested in being at the front of that pack. We talk about how insane the trades are in the NBA involving draft picks and more which aligns with how ridiculous the trade offer would have to be for Giannis. Is it worth what teams would have to give up? Then, the past few weeks have been fairly interesting for lots of NFL teams as the fallout of this past season has to be answered for by front office and coaching staff members. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was not exempt from this and this past week he lost his job because Sam Darnold took the Seahawks to the Super Bowl. We discuss if this was the right move and what the Vikings, as well as other teams, have to do next to put themselves in a good position for next year. Well the debate heard round the waterfowl community has made its way to us. For the last couple of months you’ve probably seen all of the discussions, debates, and outright fighting regarding flooded corn and whether or not this practice should be allowed to continue. While purposefully flooding corn is not a common practice, it is in some parts of the country and there are strong opinions in the south regarding it. Joey and Cal give their thoughts about the debate and look at multiple different avenues when it comes to the lack of mallards in the south. We’re not saying we’re right or that we know everything and you may have a different opinion one way or the other. The important thing we keep in mind is the need for dialogue in all of these issues and being able to see it from all angles. We get the question all the time: how do you balance your time hunting with your time at home and with your family and friends. So we thought we would discuss this week how we’ve been able to keep everybody happy…most of the time. Joey and Cal give their different takes on what you should be thinking about as you try to stay connected to your significant other and if you have kids how that throws a bit of a wrench in everything. Not saying this is perfect formula and everybody has different situations! What a turn of events for Sam Darnold. After the Vikings let him walk in free agency and the story was about a guy who couldn’t win the big games, Darnold has come out on top after beating the Rams in the NFC Championship game and advancing the Seahawks to the Super Bowl. Vikings fans are left wondering what if and the story still has another chapter to write. We review the upcoming Super Bowl and make our picks about who will win. On another note, pettiness does not die after high school, and Bill Belichick will somehow not be a first ballot Hall of Famer. There is a huge conspiracy going around about who in their right mind wouldn’t have voted for Bill to make it in. We discuss the joke that has become the NFL Hall of Fame along with the ridiculousness of Shadeur Sanders making the pro-bowl.
