Description
We're two broke guys exploring LA's foodie scene. You're more likely to catch us at a corner taquero or a backyard BBQ than at the hottest restaurant openings. Join us as we eat and drink our way through the greatest food city in the country with only a couple bucks in our pockets.

The quarantine episode. It's been a few months since we recorded. We're still trying to adjust to new schedules. We finally settled on a date and hit record. Sorry the sound is so shitty. But like really shitty. We'll be better next time.
It's Super Taco Tuesday!!! Well it was when we recorded. Ruben hooked it up with Tacos Leo and how does Harris thank him? By killing the last taco in his alambre, what a jerk. Ruben got wasted in Big Bear and Harris stayed in and made burgers at home.
After a few failed attempts, Harris finally gets Ruben to Ronnie's Kickin'. It blew his mind and burnt his taste buds off. Ruben also had himself one hell of a weekend: he judged a chili cook-off, hung with Juggalos and checked out Boomtown Brewery's 5-year anniversary. Meanwhile, humble Harris chilled at his mom's house and grilled some New York steaks to perfection.
We've been teasing it for a couple of weeks now, but we finally made it to the Original Cannabis Cafe. Was the food good? Of course it was, we were stoned out of our minds. Did we have a perfect experience, Ruben and Harris' opinions may differ. Plus listen to why Ruben is bloated after two days.
It was an exciting past couple days for both of us. Harris went to the soft opening for the Houston Brothers new bar, KISS KISS BANG BANG, at the Line Hotel in Koreatown. Think Studio 54 meets the Great Gatsby. Ruben spent his weekend grubbing on catering at an NHRA event but more importantly he visited the Prince St. Pizza pop-up in Hollywood.
We're back off the wagon baby! Dry January is over. Harris celebrated by heading down to sunny San Diego and went on a mini brewery crawl. Unfortunately for Ruben, he spent the weekend battling a cold so he didn't get to properly enjoy his first weekend of freedom. He did however hit up some restaurants for DineLA. Enjoy the episode!
Its the last week of Dry January and we are ready to responsibly celebrate this Super Bowl Sunday with a beer or two. Ruben went out to Slide Bar for a work function and of course he was offered all kinds of free drinks. After he did or didn't indulge, Harris is skeptical, he went out for some Nashville Hot Chicken at Crimson Coward in Downey. Harris spent his weekend at Disneyland to experience Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge for the first time and ate and drank his way through Batuu.
Dry January is winding down and we're feeling pretty good about ourselves. However Ruben isn't doing himself any favors by hitting up one of the best craft beer bars LA has to offer, The Surly Goat. Harris on the other hand is staying from the booze temptation altogether and found himself hitting American Deli, which is a well known in North Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama but has its sole west coast location the Crenshaw area.
Our dry January is going smoothly. Ruben put together a wish list of beers we wants to acquire to celebrate his dry month while Harris survived a friend's birthday. Harris takes a trip to Smorgasburg for the grand opening to 2020 and gets his fill of tacos. Ruben tries some not so desirable pizza toppings that have been circulating the internet.
We're only a week into our dry January experience but RUben has already escaped tempatation for now while Harris faces a tough battle in the coming weekend. We also have a discussion on whether we send food back to the kitchen if we find a mistake. Safe to say, we're both in aggreement on this one.
We recap our holidays and reminisce about the week's worth of mornings waking up to tamales and pozole. We talk briefly about how food can transport you to a different place and time as Harris dwells on the fact that his grandma's signature chile powder will be hard to replace. We also attemptinga dry January, so hear us complain about it prematurely.
Is Thanksgiving food overrated? We discuss how are families have kept our special dinners from getting stagnant and switching it up every couple of years.
We chat about our love for the Downtown Los Angeles bar scene. Ruben finally tries the Popeye's chicken sandwich. While Harris attends a Vegan tasting at The Grain Cafe with a crew of Vegan IG influencers.
Ruben and Harris head out on a weekend adventure. We head out to Santa Anita for Guerra de las Micheladas but find out there's also a taco festival going on. To cap the night we attend We Can Survive at the Hollywood Bowl in search of chicken strips.
Ruben finally takes Harris' advice and grabs himself a serving of the Great Candycopia and grabs us a couple of Big Kahuna burgers from the Halloween pop-up. And Harris is ashamed of his three UberEats orders in one day.
We discuss how much taco truck robberies aren't cool, taco bell beef recall, our fast food staples, a trip to Smorgasburg LA and California school lunches
We talk about Oliver Winery's Apple Pie Wine, trip to the local taco truck, Salt & Straw's Great Candycopia and Dr. Hogly Wogly's Tyler Texas BBQ
We talk about what we like and dislike about beer.
We talk about the Birria Revolution, Oktoberfest and Harris' fear of heights
We chat about the new Lowell's Cannabis Cafe, Mole and Taco Day
