Peter, inspired by God and knowing that he will soon be passing on, wrote to the church and reminded them of those truths central to the Christian life. He admonished them to walk in a manner consistent with Whom they had believed in, to be on guard against being led away by false teaching, and to live in such a manner that reflected their hope for a new heavens and earth.
