Lakers Fast Break

The Lakers continued the road trip with a stop in the Motor City on Monday night as they faced off against the Detroit Pistons. And credit the Lakers for not folding when faced with a first-half double-digit deficit for turning things around in the second and even taking a brief fourth-quarter one-point lead. But the NBA's best team in the clutch came up short as they couldn't stop Daniss Jenkins (30 points) in the final possessions of the game, as the Lakers had their streak broken at nine with the first loss on the road trip with a 113-110 defeat in Detroit. The Lakers started on what could be the toughest road trip of the season—their first stop...in Houston for game one of two straight games against the Houston Rockets. A second-half adjustment by JJ Redick had constant double-teams on Kevin Durant, which helped LA to force 22 turnovers. And despite scoring only four points in the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter, the Lakers were able to come up with a late-game run keyed by Luka Doncic (36 points), Deandre Ayton (7 points, 11 rebounds), and Marcus Smart (a dagger three late in the fourth) to get an important Western Conference victory, 100-92 over the Rockets. The Lakers, mired in a tight battle in the Western Conference, faced off against another one of those teams in the same situation as LA, the Minnesota Timberwolves, on Tuesday night.
