The longest-running multi-sport event in New Zealand and possibly the most picturesque, the Kathmandu Coast to Coast is a one and two-day event that traverses the South Islands Southern Alps. 243km of biking, running and kayaking from Kumara on the West Coast to New Brighton on the East.

Our final Kathmandu Coast to Coast podcast for the season is here, and we've saved the best for last! Getting to the finish line is one thing, but the startline of the Kathmandu Coast to Coast is a whole other thing.  Once you've committed to this amazing event, it's about putting in the work to ensure you get the best out of yourself and the experience.  Richard Greer catches up with former racer and now Race Director Glen Currie to hear about this years event, as well as HPSNZ's Warrick Wood to get a few tips and tricks around the mental skills that can be applied at this point of the journey to help get the best result.  Serial coast to coasters Sophie Beaumont checks in to share her experience of going from tandem to individual and what she loves about living the outdoor lifestyle. 
Strength Coach Kim Vargo who specialises in working with endurance athletes connects with Richard Greer, talking about the importance of strength training and how we can incorporate it into an already packed training schedule when dealing with Kayaking, Running, Cycling not forgetting recovery, sleeping, some family time and your job… Kim shares with us the fundamentals that every endurance athlete should be doing on a regular basis. Then Arthur Tompkins who is a district court judge, an art crime specialist and a passionate Coast to Coast competitor who has completed the event 8 times shares his drive in getting the Aotea College team to the start line of the event over the past few years.  And finally we check in again with Sophie Beaumont & Nicole Lloyd’s journey to the start line of the 2 Day Tandem Team Section.  We catch up with them to see how they are progressing as they prepare for their first crack at the Coast to Coast in 2022.
Kathmandu Coast to Coast Podcast - 40 year Anniversary edition brought to you by Team CP. Joe Sheriff - Tonight we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Kathmandu Coast to Coast by catching up with the winner of the inaugural Coast to Coast in 1983.  79 entrants lined up on Kumara beach and 77 finished - 28 team competitors and 49 individuals.  Joe is lining up for the 2 day individual again 40 years after that initial adventure across the Southern Alps from Kumara to Christchurch. 8:30pm Rob Howarth - Rob is an Auckland based Kayak coach and long-time supporter of the Kathmandu Coast to Coast and Multisport in general.  We catch up with Rob to find out more about the Coast to Coast community and the support that is out there to help you achieve your race day goal. 8:45pm Sophie Beaumont & Nicole Lloyd join us to round out the show.  They are lining up for their first crack at the 2 Day Tandem Team Section.  It has been on their bucket list for a long time and after canceled covid travel plans they felt that this was a great time to really challenge themselves by taking on the Kathmandu Coast to Coast.
Anna Dean has done the race in a number of different formats from the Longest day racing at the front of the field to enjoying the Two Day with her Mum. The nutrition challenge changes when the goals for the event changes - Anna discusses her experiences and how to make it work for you. Matt Stewart lined up for his first Coast to Coast last year and is back for another crack.  Starting at a base "lower than zero" he made it to the finish line but is back fitter, stronger and more organised in 2020 to take hours off his finishing time.

Glen Currie talks about his role as the Race Director, his background and key points to make sure that you have an awesome weekend.  We also go and test out a piece of Kathmandu kit to see how it performs when put through its paces.
To we catch up with Steve Gurney to talk about mental skills specific to training and racing.   With Steve’s experience of racing at the top level for many years and helping people perform to their potential, he shares some insights that will help you to have an awesome Kathmandu Coast to Coast experience.
