Description

Welcome to The FLOT Line, with your host, Rick Hughes. For the next 30 minutes, you will be inspired, motivated, and educated, but never manipulated.

FLOT is an acronym for Forward Line of Troops. The show teaches principles from the Bible and focuses on God’s 10 unique problem-solving devices. If you choose to learn and apply them, they will act as a main line of resistance in your soul, a FLOT line, preventing the outside sources of adversity from becoming the inside pressure of stress in your soul. The intent is to give you information to help you identify the plan of God for your life.

As a Christian, the best thing you can do is respect God and heed His mandates. When you obey God's ordinances, you get three things: length of days, long life, and peace. To reverence God and His Word is the most morally pure thing you can do. “The laws of God are correct and obedience causes rejoicing and enlightenment” (Ps 19:8). God’s ordinances provide warnings and unlimited blessings while you are living in the devil’s world. Being obedient is how you demonstrate you love God. “Whoever says, ‘I love God’ and is not obedient is a liar and the truth is not in him” (1 John 2:4). You can misdirect your love, which is very easy to do when you get occupied with the wrong things.Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/odinances-god-2e6f1d
Do Not Complain (2023)

Do Not Complain (2023)

2025-12-0327:44

Do not complain is a mandate from God. Complaining is a sin and the sin nature’s number one pop-off valve. Complaining and serving the Lord with a superabundance of happiness are mutually exclusive. “Do all things without complaining or arguments so that you will prove yourself to be blameless and innocent children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world” (Phil 2:14-15). You can’t be a light without the filling of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God in your soul. The attractiveness of God’s Word is the light. Do not complain. “You are a letter from the Lord Jesus Christ to the lost world” (2 Cor 3:3). Shine.Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/not-complain-e6fd9c

Think about what you’re missing by not seeing with the eyes of your soul, by not having faith. Faith is the muscle of the spiritual life. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen” (Heb 11:1). Without faith you can’t please God. “Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him” (Heb 11:6). With the eyes of your soul, you can have the confidence and assurance in the Biblical descriptions of what awaits you in the future. For your soul to see God’s promises you must have them in the mentality of your soul and then you can stand on faith and believe them.Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/eyes-soul-fd3c2f
Jesus told His disciples, and you, to get in the boat and quit making excuses (Matt. 8:21-22). You need to know the Bible to get God’s direction for your life. The Lord instructs you to do something very simple—obey Him. But you can’t obey what you don’t know, and you will never know what God has for you without learning the Scripture. “We have this treasure in our earthly vessels so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be from God and not from ourselves“ (2 Cor 4:7). God’s provisions are found in the Bible. They will help you if you learn them, use them, and operate on faith.Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/quit-making-6eb70f
God gives you power resources to use in this life. “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline [a sound mind]” (2 Tim 1:7). The Holy Spirit escorts and empowers you through time to eternity. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8). The Christian life can’t function without the filling of the Holy Spirit. You must be filled with the Holy Spirit and use the power of the Word of God to discern and defeat the schemes of the devil, the lures of the world and your flesh (the sin nature). Faith is your power, and it comes from studying and applying God’s Word. “So faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom 10:17).Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/power-god-89985d
The power of Christ is accessed through faith by means of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. “God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Tim 1:7). Jesus Christ's spiritual life during His earthly ministry is our template for how to live the Christian life. The template is found in the Word of God. It is the mind of Christ. The Lord wants you to yoke up with Him, “Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me” (Matt 11:28-30). This yoke will give you rest and peace of mind. The power of Christ results in: compassion and graciousness, lack of fear, confidence, and protection. “So that the name of the Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you and you in Him according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thes 1:12).Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/power-christ-187e19
If you are going to evaluate your spiritual life properly you must not have an unrealistic self-image or a misguided assumption about what impresses God. “But he who glories, let him glory in the Lord. For it is not he who commends himself who is approved but whom the Lord commends.” (2 Cor 10:17-18) “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 18:14)Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/headed-transcripts-387279
There is a connection between what you think and your health. Anxiety produces mental-attitude sins, such as fear, anxiety and worry. Constant mental tension will eventually affect your health. The faith-rest drill is concentrating on God for perfect peace. “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You” (Is 26:3). God mandates that you should not be anxious about anything. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Phil 4:6).Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/anxiety-stress-642d3f
People Testing (2023)

People Testing (2023)

2025-11-2627:42

People testing is one of the biggest problems you’ll have as you advance spiritually. The solution to people testing combines personal love for God and impersonal love for all mankind. Without this virtue love, you will surrender control of your life to others. “Be not deceived; evil company corrupts good morals” (1 Cor 15:33). We create evil companions by getting close to those who distract us from the Word of God. If someone maligns or slanders you, let God handle it. Don’t seek revenge. Take it to the Supreme Court of Heaven. It is open 24/7.Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/people-testing-bc9751

To reach spiritual maturity, the Christian must contain emotions. The Christian life is lived through thought, not emotions. “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus” (Phil 2:5).  If you let your emotions control you, you will lose your direction and be held hostage to fear and intimidation. You go through a lot of pain and suffering because you let your emotions control you. “As a man thinks in his heart, so he is” (Prov 23:7). The power is in thought from the Word of God learned and applied in your life, what we call Biblical orientation. The divine solution to internal pressure is “God is able to make all grace abound toward you” (2 Cor 9:8).Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/emotional-failure-bc2ddb
This might be the year you discover your destiny in Christ Jesus. “See then that you walk circumspectly not like a fool but as a wise person, redeeming the time because the days are evil” (Eph 5:15-16). God wants to make you rich spiritually, to give you a wonderful, meaningful, full life. You have a personal guide for life—God. Go to the Word under the filling of the Holy Spirit and in prayer acknowledge God and He will direct your path. “He will direct your path” (Prov 3:6). Are You Holy (2022)

2025-11-2027:41

No one can gain eternal favor from God by means of their holy lifestyle or clean living. “But as He who has called you is holy, so be you holy in all manner of conversation” (1 Pet 1:15). You are holy in your position in Christ Jesus. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit you are living a holy life. Your advance to spiritual maturity, the holiness you want to attain, is a gradual process only attained by studying under a well-qualified pastor. Your pastor is to teach you Biblical wisdom concepts to apply in your life so that you understand positional sanctification, which is your holiness, experiential sanctification, which is your spirituality, and ultimate sanctification, which is your eventual resurrection body minus the sin nature.Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/holy-transcript-199e84

Here’s what God says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope’” (Jer 29:11). “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation and be constant in prayer” (Rom 12:12). It’s not an elected leader who can turn around the course of history. It’s only you and your spiritual life. You must understand and use God’s 10 problem-solving devices if you intend to live a successful Christian life. “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small” (Prov 24:10).Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/discouraged-hopeful-e2e6d1

Living by Faith (2022)

Living by Faith (2022)

2025-11-1727:38

Our salvation is secured by faith. “Having been justified by faith [not works] we have peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom 5:1). Faith is trust in God and His Word. The more of the Word of God you know, the more resources of faith you have. “We walk by faith and not by sight” (2 Cor 5:7).  If you want to live by faith, you must exercise your faith and this develops it. Learning and applying God’s Word is how you do it. The victory of your faith is overcoming the world. “For whoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world - our faith” (1 John 5:4-5).Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/living-faith-92e04c
God expects you to get up after a mistake and keep driving ahead. Let go of past mistakes and failures. "Forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil 3:13-14). Remorse is not sinful but when it turns into guilt it changes to sin. Guilt is part of the emotional complex of sins. Guilt motivates many failures in the spiritual life. Satan will use guilt to distract, discourage and defeat you. You must learn to overcome guilt. God’s problem-solving device rebound addresses sin. You don’t have to live with guilt. Move forward in your spiritual life by learning and applying God’s Word.Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/forget-past-a43157
