New SIT Episode: .This week, we have a sort of unorthodox episode - our favorite shows of the past nine months! Over quarantine and being stuck at home we have had a lot more time on our hands; how have we dealt with it(other than this podcast XD)? With the remote in our hands, we have embarked on many a journey with the shows we have watched. Here are some of our favorites, and what they meant to us!In this episode, we talked about: 1. The 40 Year Old Version! An almost 40 school teacher is reaching the point in her life when she looks back and wonders what she has done with it(spoiler alert: not much). How does she choose to solve this? Becoming a rapper! This show has a lot of hidden lessons in between the lines that everyone could benefit from learning.2. Euphoria! This show, headlined by Zendaya, is a masterclass in its presentation, its acting, and its characters. It tells us about the dangers of addiction, the problem of self devaluing, religion, God, life’s meaning, and way more in a way that is an immersive experience.3. The Sound Of Metal! This show follows a drummer and former addict who suddenly loses his sense of hearing. This is one show that perfectly exemplifies the randomness of life. There are things you will never control, including the people around who support you. How do you deal with this uncertainty? This conversation is one that is insightful, memorable, and best of all, full of the best recommendations for your future watching. Give it a listen!.As always, this episode is available on all podcast platforms...and on YouTube! We're back this week with 2 special guest stars - Mike and Risi Idiokitas! Mike and Risi, a husband and wife dynamic duo that we have known for well over 20 years! As we sat down to film this episode (during our joint family vacation in Chincoteague, Virginia this summer), we started off going down the memory lane of how they met and became High School sweethearts. We eventually settled on the main topic of Child Rearing. Specifically what best practices we leverage, and how children can throw a wrench into your relationship if you are not aligned on how to approach raising children. This is the second part of the discussion last episode. In this episode, we talk about healthy relationships with kids, how our parenting styles have changed, and what kind of relatinship we want to have in the future. We discuss:1. Our children - what we feel is important to teach them, how to engage with them, and what kind of relationship we want to foster for the future.2. Parenting tactics - What we want to change, what we want to keep, and what we have been doing differently - or want to do differently - from our own parents. As always, check us out on all podcast platforms. Procrastination – I’m sure all of you can relate to this topic. This week Mack and Bola discuss this topic from each of their individual and unique perspectives. In typical fashion we ramble but we also provide you with some deep insights. Bola with an approach that considers the magic in accomplishing the impossible, while Mack attempts to reconcile this belief in magic with his skeptic view of the world. We invite you to join the conversation in the comments or via email. What are your thoughts on procrastination, motivation, working hard to become the new you?
Male Bonding

Male Bonding

New SIT Episode: Relationships Matter: Male Bonding. The long awaited second episode in a subseries featuring Mack as he learns the value of friendships! This episode features Jovan, one of Mack’s friends met through a mutual, as they discuss the meaning of masculinity and keeping friendships active at this age.In this episode, we talked about: 1. The need for a common link between male friends versus the spontaneity of female friends, and why that may not be such a weird thing in general2. Jovan’s childhood, what influenced his fashion, his culture, and him as a person.3. Mack, Jovan, and their mutual friend’s relationship, their dynamic as people in a friend group made up of black men achieving in their lives and honoring their family’s “Legacy”.Mack, in his life, has always been the type not to go out and make friendships, but this series, he explores why that is, how to change it, and how to create lasting ones with his male friends! Give it a listen!.As always, this episode is available on all podcast platforms...and on YouTube!Enjoy!
We're back this week with a look back on the summer. What a year it's been! Now that summer is coming to an end (which by the way...did we actually HAVE summer? Summer....I need my money back!!), Mack and I sit down to reminisce on our memorable moments from the past 2 months...our adventures, trials, tribulations..and most importantly LESSONS LEARNED.Of course, or should I say per usual, this is a 2 part-er. In this episode, we reminisce on our time from the end of May to our family reunion weekend over the 4th of July. We’ll close out the remainder of the summer on the next episode. We discuss:1. Our trip to Houston to celebrate my sister's birthday, and share highlights from the stops made along the way, including a detour to visit friends in Denver and Dallas. Thank God for good friends! The topic of the episode is: What about your friends...and family. 🙂 Just typing this makes me want to dedicate the next week to #TLC2. Flexibility!! One thing for sure is that between Mack and myself, I'm the more spontaneous one. And the need to be spontaneous can be challenging when married to someone who likes to plan things out. How do we as a family manage such differences of approach...without growing resentful of each other. And how to continue living out loud, while negotiating and balancing the need for spontaneity with proper planning. 🤷🏿3. We also touch on the balance between doing you vs. bending to do what your partner. Ultimately we explore when you do you and when you must go together. The quote: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together" seems appropriate here.As always, check us out on all podcast platforms...and YouTube. 🤗🤗🤗...Enjoy!
