Description

Welcome to Not Spiraling. My name is Jovia— and I have a 'PHD' in Spiraling and Over Thinking. I will use this space to talk my way out of it. I hope my thoughts resonate and inspire you, too.

Not Spiraling replaces Conversations— the original podcast with my son, John Anthony. Those older episodes and intro will remain. He may start his own podcast, and/or feature here occasionally.

John and his High School Orchestra spent a week at Disney World. In this episode, I ask him all about it..in the ‘mom-est’ way possible. 😂😂
My love and hate relationship with the ever bland chicken breast!
The New York Times article, ‘When Tennis Became a Stage for Right and Wrong During a Pandemic’ by Damien Cave, posted on 1/14/2022— is a fitting end to my Novak Djokovic rant. 4 episodes later. 😎🎾
Australia got it right. Now it is time for some wonderful Tennis come Monday! 🎾
Novak’s visa has been cancelled. Again. Of course he is trying to appeal the decision. AGAIN.
Novak always finds himself in the news for the all the wrong reasons. My take on his latest stunt.
I just learned that Audie Cornish, one of my favorite NPR hosts, has decided to join ‘The Great Resignation’ train. I am sad..but I have to say, GOOD FOR HER!And good for anyone who courageously stepped forward (in spite of the unknowns), to pursue their goals!
I still cannot get over the fact that Theranos survived as long as it did. AND that Elizabeth and company, managed to raise over $900M. End rant.
Slowly recovering my voice, and my health. Stopped by just to wish you a Happy New Year! Meanwhile my neighbor’s dog, and fireworks are happening outside! 🎆🥴
Wishing you peace, love, and joy this Christmas, holiday, or weekend..whatever you celebrate. It is such a special time of year that I shall ignore the fact that my mic picked up sounds from my dryer, and neighbor’s car. No editing necessary. 😑🎄
Quick chat about what makes this theme song wonderfully complex and memorable.
We just watched The Alpinist, on Netflix. A resounding celebration, and reminder of what it means to live fully, and accepting others’ dreams even when said dreams do not make sense to us. A lesson in knowing that all of our individual goals, passions, and desires—-matter. I hope this episode, AND especially the documentary, inspires you to live fully! Find your ‘project possible!’ ❤️👊
John and I debate once again…this time about whether or not sports fans can ‘survive’ life without cable. And of course it doesn’t help that YouTube TV just lost ESPN and other Disney channels. 😬
When it comes to YouTube’s decision to (sort of) remove the dislike button… John has some thoughts (and a cold)! Well I have some thoughts, too —but it appears that I’m in the minority here? 😑
In this episode I ask John to play/learn some of my favorite hymns in real time, and of course I had to add some Adele in there. We also share some highlights from an eventful afternoon at a tree lighting event.

Reacting to a video we just watched about fear, overthinking, and worrying about other’s’ opinions of us.
John is a Junior ..so naturally the ‘what happens after high school?’ question is louder than ever. In this episode, we discuss what it means to pursue one’s passion…fiercely, (and realistically). John is passionate about animation, concept art, music composition, AND Political Science! Soo yea. To be continued! 😎🤓
I have yet another song obsession..this time from the soundtrack of the new Netflix film, Tick Tick Boom! It tells the story of the late Jonathan Larson, the genius composer, and creator of the smash musical RENT. Of course I asked John to try and play the intro on the fly! 🤦‍♀️. Included is a clip of the actual recording from the film. Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Arguments and fights are part of life. They can also be learning opportunities. Opportunities to communicate, understand, and love each other, more.
The beauty of life..is that as long as one is alive, there is always a chance to start all over again. Meanwhile John is busy practicing 🎹 and 🎻, and is unaware that I’m recording this..pardon the background 🎶.
