New Years Day podcast as the Winter Classic was played in Seattle. The Elite 6; The Pacific Kingdom 3 -Vancouver remains atop, Vegas battles LA and wins a key division game between the teams. Central Division - Centralization Trio - Dallas and Winnipeg with identical records and Colorado a pt ahead in more gp. The Wild Card group has Arizona and Nashville lead the pack. At the Christmas break - World Juniors is a hot topic; The Elite 6; Vancouver takes over first in the Western Conference as Vegas plays through goaltender injuries and LA with fewer games played continues to play catch up. Dallas last minute win has them atop the Central at the break. Winnipeg a point back of Dallas and Colorado in a tightly contested 3-way race. The Wild Card hopeful group has the next four Central division teams vying for 2 spots - Arizona, Nashville, St. Louis and Minnesota while it's Edmonton after by point percentage. Winnipeg locks up another pending UFA in Nino Niederreitter on a 3-year extension. Sharp Shooters asks where the summer media noise that NHL'ers didn't want to play in Winnipeg was wrong and no one seems to have share apologies for the bad takes. Kings "Commonwealth Expansion" continues with setting new NHL record for road wins to start the szn. Anze Kopitar overtakes a "Crown Line" milestone with the franchise. Vegas only beat when an opposing goaler stands-out and Vancouver sees Hughes take flight as brothers face off. Colorado has rocky week and Dallas wants to peak Playoff time not during regular szn to wrap the Western Conference Elite 6. Arizona goalie Connor Ingram's and Yotes recent success with wins over last 5 Cup Champs. Edmonton's turn around continues and a Western Conference that has at least one playoff spot that can be Oiled. After a quick Edmonton Oil change as they fire and hire a new head coach we focus on the Western Conference. The Pacific Top 3 - Vegas; Vancouver and LA and Central's top 3 - Dallas, Colorado, and Winnipeg. Sophomore snipers Dallas' Wyatt Johnston and Winnipeg's Cole Perfetti's impact. Talk out loud about whether to continue another NHL hockey szn of the podcast and how it's a guys comparative; as in an unpaid media sports podcasting side gig like being an Instagram model is. Trades and player moves are most interesting when you cover both teams for the full perspective and gives a unique take that only a division podcast such as this can. A team designed to tank that did to win the draft lottery while missing the playoffs finishing last in the Central Division in the regular szn. Jonathan Toews wasn’t able to be traded away like Patrick Kane and gets as good of a send off from the Chicago fans as one could have hoped for the captain. Getting the ownership to get a rink build as Arizona GM Bill Armstrong’s rebuild is giving the on-ice product for the Coyotes a real path for long term success.
