A story told to him by his father of the experiments he conducted back in the 80s resulting in a complete failure and shut down of the program.
But now he realized there is more to these experiments than just a story, his father saw something back then, and now hes refusing to talk about it.
Then, his father disappears, and now hes forced to look into the one thing his father told him to never talk about, in hopes of finding him again.

This was such a masterpiece of a story, the writing feels like the lovechild of someone who is experienced in writing, but also has extreme respect for the legends of horror writing, like H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe while still retaining a sense of modern familiarity.
