Description

Here at A Word of Light Ministries we have a desire to see people’s lives changed through the Word of God. We have been entrusted with the mandate to spread the gospel and we don’t take that mandate likely. The Word of God has the power to overcome any situation that people may find themselves in, and that is the hope that we bring to all those who will listen.

God's grace is unearned and undeserved; embrace the grace.
The Spark is a segment of the service that takes place before the general assembly. A spark can be defined as something that sets off a sudden force; and it is our prayer that this segment ignites and prepares you spiritually for worship.  This week's Spark is about being able to differentiate your voice from God's voice.

A spark can be defined as something that sets off a sudden force; and it is our prayer that this segment ignites and prepares you spiritually for worship.  God has many promises for us, but we have to know the promises in order for us to believe them. His attention is one of those promises: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” – James 4:8 (CSB)
We often think that God’s grace is a “get out of jail free card;” consequently, we frivolously make decisions thinking that we can simply pray our way out of trouble. Unfortunately, life doesn’t work that way: every action has a reaction and every cause has an effect. God’s forgiveness and grace may pardon us from eternal death, but there’s still a price to pay while still on Earth. “What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply?” Romans 6:1 (CSB).

A spark can be defined as something that sets off a sudden force; and it is our prayer that this segment ignites and prepares you spiritually for worship.   God’s love for us is something we talk about all of the time, but as Christians we have to do more than talk; we have to believe. God is our Shephard, and one of the ways in which He demonstrates His love is by listening to our heart’s cry.
Often times, we embark upon fasting and prayer as if it’s some type of magical potion that will somehow fix all of our problems. The issue with this type of thinking is that we end up placing so much emphasis on “fasting and prayer,” that we forget to actually draw closer to God. This sermon discusses the importance of allowing fasting and prayer to help us draw closer to God and further develop our faith.
The Art of Consistency

The Art of Consistency

Consistency, like obedience, is a learned behavior. Even Jesus himself had to learn how to be consistent with His obedience to God, The Father. It is through obedience to God's Word, that we will learn the art of being consistent.
We constantly say that God is in control, but do we really mean it? Today, we will learn more about wholeheartedly trusting in His control; whether it be in times of joy, or in times of sorrow.

We often ask God for direction; however, we tend to focus so much on the destination ahead, that we rarely take time to enjoy the journey. Today, we will explore how to aim our focus, and how to have faith in God’s Promise that He will give us solid direction if we ask.

The Spirit of Unbelief

Life is challenging, there’s no two ways about it. With every challenge, our belief and faith in God takes a hit; sometimes for the worst. No matter how hard or how tough it gets, however, we must maintain the course, and keep our belief in God’s word steady. Join us as we walk through how to combat the Spirit of Unbelief.
God’s favor is unnatural; that’s why it’s so special when it occurs. Let us forever be grateful and thankful whenever we see God’s favor present in the lives of ourselves, as well as the lives of others.
In life, each of us has an assignment to complete, a mountain to climb. Join us as we discuss the importance of identifying our purpose in life and using said purpose to benefit others and bring glory to God.
Throughout life, we are often asking ourselves, why is this taking so long? Or why do I have to go this particular way? In those moments of doubt and questioning, we must always remember that not only is God is all knowing, but that God knows what’s best. God asked Moses, “What is that in your hand?” Often times in life, we’re looking for our breakthrough or miracle to fall from the sky or come from the hands of someone else. When in reality, God is expecting us to use what’s already in our hands. With that, we must also believe that God is capable of blessing that which He has already gifted us. Just like communication between one another is vital to a stable relationship, so is our communication between God and ourselves. God cares about us, He cares about our lives and the decisions we make. God simply wants us to seek Him first, so that He can lead us down the right path.
