Knox leaves O'Brien to wrap up his paperwork on the Johnny Greene murder. On his way home he stops for a chat with James Cooper, dad to dad.
Knox keeps Stacey distracted while Shelley looks for his chance to break up the standoff in the Cooper living room.
Shelley tries to sneak up behind Stacey Womack while Knox tries to keep her talking.
Knox and O'Brien think they've arrested the wrong Cooper. They head back to arrest Lizzy, but someone is already there and has plans of her own for Lizzy.
Shelley ditches the interrogation to check out the pawn shop, where the owner confirms that James Cooper was there but bought a necklace, not a gun. In his receipt book he sees someone else was there that morning, someone that did buy a gun.
Knox and O'Brien bring in Cooper for questioning. O'Brien is disappointed that he won't get his quick confession.
John Greene is left alone with his son on the coroner's exam table and has one last chance to tell him what he never could tell him before.
John Greene must identify the body of his only son, Johnny.
Knox and O'Brien head over to Shelley's apartment to see if he can shed any light on James Cooper's involvement in Johnny Greene's murder.
O'Brien and Knox sit down with murder witness Emily Herschel as she recounts her morning and what she saw on Wayne Avenue.
Knox brings in the top homicide detective on the Gemson police force, Danny O'Brien. O'Brien makes quick judgments and forms a theory while viewing the body before going with Knox to meet Emily Herchel.
Knox's Sunday morning is interrupted with news of Johnny Greene's murder. Arriving at the scene, he finds Johnny, dead on the sidewalk of Wayne Avenue.
Lost in thought, Cooper takes a walk to clear his head and finds himself downtown. Johnny has decided to make a clean start with Stacey Womack and become a one-woman-man. Heading downtown for a bite of breakfast, he and Cooper find themselves converging on Wayne Avenue.
Knox has informed Cooper and Lizzy that Johnny Greene will not be charged with her rape. Lizzy takes to her bedroom and refuses to come out, while Cooper wonders how he can make sure this never happens again.

Knox realizes he has no idea what kind of case Shelley has against Johnny Greene and decides to sit down with the younger detective to determine if his case against the quarterback is strong enough to send to the District Attorney's office.
Knox and Councilman Musto retire to Knox's study where Musto gives him the hard truth about the importance of University of Gemson football and Johnny Greene to the people of Gemson.
Knox heads home after a stressful day hoping to relax with his family, but Amanda informs him a surprise guest will be joining them for dinner and has requested corned beef and hash.
Shelley gets some hassle from a couple older detectives who are also big UG football fans.
