“The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.” (Psalm 24:1)Throughout Scripture God gently reminds us that He is the Creator of all things. The first born son, the firstfruits from a new harvest, and the Sabbath are all signposts. So is the tithe.Do you want to be a generous person? Do you want to demonstrate honour to God? Learn how the tithe helps aligns God’s goodness with our treasure.
In episode two of our new series, Hidden Treasure, we look at Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6:19-24Jesus describes two places to store treasure, two kinds of eyes, and two masters.Jesus shows us how our whole life flows from our view of money.
In Joshua, God’s chosen leader leaves the next generation with a stark choice as he famously declares, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”What is most important to you? How will you leave a faithful legacy to the generation coming behind you.”
Why do we get weary doing the right thing? Why is it hard to grow spiritually? Why does prayer lead into sleep so quickly? In Montreal and in the western world, we have no room for supernatural things. We are proudly secular, pushing God and supernatural activity to the side. In this message, we will be reminded about the clear and present danger called spiritual warfare. The Israelites faced it in rebuilding the City of God, and we should be ready too.
City Church recently celebrated the baptisms of twenty-eight beautiful people. After such a historic day, many of us asked, “What Now?”What is God’s will for our lives?Listen in as we hear the last words of Jesus. In these last words, Jesus directs his followers with just one thing. His one thing is our main thing.
The people of God were in Babylonian captivity for decades. They lost everything in the siege and longed to return home and to their God. Rather than rebuilding their wealth or their homes, the people unanimously resolve to rebuild the sacrificial altar. Listen or watch our episode two of our Re-New series to consider where we need to renew ourselves for the purposes of God.
Do you have a pet sin in your life? It’s often the thing that holds you back from walking fully in God's purpose, and our enemy, the devil, will use any opportunity to keep us stuck in that. If you are a follower of Christ, you would also know that it deeply breaks your Father’s heart. Because of Jesus, God’s wrath and anger on our sin is overshadowed by Christ death on the cross. He Loves You more than you will ever know. If you are a true follower of Christ, as harsh as it may sound, please don’t call Him Your Lord and Your King if you are not ready to obey.
Who is responsible for renewal. Since the time of Abraham, we have wrestled with a very difficult tension. Is it God, or is it me?Where does God’s responsibility collide with the responsibility of man? As we re-examine the story of Ezra and Nehemiah, we start to see some clear principles as we seek the renewal of our own city, in our time.

We hate waiting. It feels like an eternity, it crushes us, and it also exposes us.Waiting on God is even harder. The story of the golden calf is a chilling insight into how easy it is for God's children to turn away. Instead of using God's good gifts as worship, they were used to construct a false god. What if we updated this story into the app stores of our smartphones? What if we considered how easy these applications could be used to tempt us into idolatry? The good news is the gift of repentance. It allows us to turn back to God, and receive victory that Jesus purchased for all his broken followers.
The Better Path

The Better Path

Do you know the story of Mary and Martha? Both sisters were motivated to throw a great dinner party for their honoured Rabbi, Jesus of Nazareth. However, Jesus said that Mary "chose the better path" than her sister. When it comes to our phones and our time, how do we choose the path of Mary when tech companies are feeding us dopamine?
Have you ever seen the movie, The Matrix? In this ground-breaking film, machines took over from the human race, and actually used humans to fuel their advancement. It felt far-fetched, even if the movie was filled with great action and a novel concept.Today, it's hard to argue that many of us are addicted to our smartphones, if not all technology. This is something that both Christian and non-Christian experts are warning us about. This message will help us contemplate the subject of freedom, and why as followers of Jesus, we shouldn't trade our freedom for digital chains.
We love it and we hate it. We need it and we want to run away to the forest to ditch our phones and live off the grid. The Apostle Paul had a vital word for Christians living at the height of the Roman Empire in Romans 12:1-2.A smaller group of tech engineers help program the thoughts and beliefs of over 2 billion people in our world today. You are invited to join us for 30 days as we detox from our phones in order to reposition our minds, hearts, souls and relationships.
Each January, we have a few areas we have pinpointed for growth. When it comes to your spiritual life, have you considered the pattern Jesus set?In this message, you will see how Jesus intended for you to have a three dimensional life. When we prioritize these areas, we will not only grow quickly, but make a great impact on the people around us.
We all have ideas about how to make a new year just a little better.Have you ever wondered what Jesus would want for your life?In several teaching moments, Jesus was very clear about how he wants 2026 to be different than 2025 for his followers.Watch or listen to see the heart of God for your new year.
One of the most important questions we ask is, Why am I here? What is the purpose for my life?Mary had the same question when her life was disrupted during her engagement to Joseph.Rather than follow the script of her mother, or friends in her community, she was given a life-altering gift.Mary records a beautiful song of praise that highlights the might and the mercy of God.Like Mary, we are invited to carry the story of God to those around us, and the generations coming behind us.
We live in an age of photo filters to curate our best digital identity. We work hard in school and at work to solidify our self-worth.We live to honour our parents and make them—and our family name proud. It’s no wonder we are exhausted. The Christmas Story offers us a new identity by offering us a new family.Watch or listen to Episode 2 of our Missing Peace message series.
It’s a haunting and often painful question when we don’t feel like we fit in.We might feel like an imposter at work, or an outcast at school, or have these episodes where we wonder if anyone actually cares for us.The Christmas story is a story of belonging. But it is not our initiative to conform that brings peace. It is the move of God to announce good news of great joy that brings peace—and belonging—with our Creator that changes everything.Listen to episode one of our new message series, Missing Peace.
