Mamdani just sued the Trump administration over green cards and welfare — and he said people could die if the rule stands. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, with Letitia James and a stack of blue-city mayors, is in federal court to block the public charge rule. Starting now, immigration officers can weigh SNAP, Medicaid, and other benefits when deciding who gets a green card. The administration’s point is simple and old: People coming here should be able to support themselves. Mamdani’s point is the opposite.
