We continue our Lent sermon series this Sunday,"Gethsemane"with a sermon from Pastor Jenna,"A Friend's Betrayal" from the scripture passageMatthew 26:47-56.
From the moment that Jesus stepped into the garden of Gethsemane, the weight of the worlds brokenness came on Himthe suffering, the trials, the disappointments, the injusticeyet He remained rooted in the goodness of the Father. How? How did He manage it? This Lent we are going to be exploring The Passion narrative in Matthew 26-27 with the hope of encountering Jesus in His suffering and seeing how deeply He depended on the hope that was yet to come. And as we do this, our prayer is that His Spirit would give us the strength and courage to face our own trials and to further root ourselves in the promises of God.

Were looking at characters in the Old Testament who were trailblazers in how they sought to have a Beatitude impactdespite the pressures of other kingdoms, rulers, and peers telling them to live otherwise. These are characters who did not conform to the patterns of the world around them but were led and transformed by the God of Israels way of thinking. And in-so-doing, they were foreshadowers of Christ.
This Sunday, Pastor Jenna will be starting our new Fall Sermon series with her sermon on"A Beatitude Adoption"from the scripture passage ofExodus 2:1-10.
