It's been a decade since Sawbones last talked about measles, and we don't often check in with an update unless . . . well, something comes up in the news. Dr. Sydnee talks about how the vaccine for measles was developed, the unfortunate backlash that has been going on against it since 2008, and what we can do for the future.

In honor of Justin's first colonoscopy, Dr. Sydnee goes through the history of looking inside the colon. i think colloquially "homeopathy" gets used to mean any sort of home remedy or alternative medicine. i didn't realize it was specific to remedies that are diluted to just water until i started listening to sawbones
i love sam from trick r treat and i'm glad cooper has a fondness for him. he's a good boy.
i remember sydnee mentioning in a previous episode that they think it was called "dandy fever" either because it was associated with rich people who had access to meat or because the pain from the muscular cysts made people walk very delicately (i.e., "like a dandy")
also, important to note that andrew wakefield wasn't even saying "don't vaccinate your kids." andrew wakefield wanted people to vaccinate their kids for measles, mumps, and rubella individually, specifically using HIS vaccines that he posed as a "solution" to this "problem." he just wanted money.
WHOA!! They get paid WAY better than IR!!

Just ask anyone who's been in the military. We all remember how CS gas feels.
According to Greatest Generation, the EMH is named Doctor Mark, though I still prefer their first draft, "Doc Holoday"
My aunt got shingles twice before she was 50. She couldn't convince doctors to give her the vaccine even after the first occurrence before "people your age aren't at risk for shingles." Sigh. And health insurance isn't required to cover titers, so she couldn't prove she needed it.
My very first thing when I walk into a home is where is the bedside commode and can we get you at least sitting on the edge of the bed with some trunk strength
Holy shamoly I'm OT. Purpose., every time I can get somebody out of diapers I claim my fame as the bathroom lady
I know I spelled it wrong but I'm cooking and don't touch my phone, LOL
God, I wish Kerri Fisher and her mom were still alive. She and Darth Vader had the best sense of humor.
If I could hug you I would. I'm a COTA, and I'm embracing our role in IADLs for my clients.
We are experiencing ICE with 12% truancy across general population Jefferson Parish. Public education is a right established (for some at first) in our nation. What trajectory for children who don't get to go to school? Now we will blame those children 10 years later when they can't afford housing and are years behind in reading.
No one ever wants to have to pee and get run off or arrested. I work in New Orleans home health care and since COVID-19 I can barely find a bathroom working with individuals whose bathroom is not a good idea. Why on earth are we insisting on treatment prior to housing?
On the rat poison, I blame my personal hero and national treasure Lily Tomlin, plus Fonda and Parton. I'm sure the consequences for Santa were unintentional.
you'll get my coke zeros outta my cold, dead hands
I mean, how many years did "Lost" insist the fan theories that they were all dead were wrong?
I believe a timely topic at this time would be malnutrition.
