What if I told you that families who hire a wealth advisor are 3.9 times wealthier than those who don't? Would this change your mind? In this podcast I discuss the value of advice, plus I also admit to two internal biases that both myself and a client could have avoided.

Once again, I am joined by Keri O'Driscoll, senior insurance consultant at Scotia Wealth Management.
She believes that many people unnecessarily pre-disqualify themselves from applying for life insurance, because they've had a major health condition, such as a heart attack or stroke.
THIS IS A MYTH. There are many circumstances where you can still qualify. There is hope!
If this is you or someone you love...please spend the next 11 minutes finding out why you should wear your Fitbit or Apple watch, and please talk to a professional advisor about it now.
Insurance seems to be one those really intimidating conversations. Mostly because people don't understand the lingo. There is confusion even about the basic
types of insurance, such as term insurance, or whole life. There are many nuances that people don't understand. So I've asked my insurance specialist Keri O'Driscoll to explain what some of the most common insurance terminology means.

There is still a gap in financial knowledge between men and women. Here's what I think are the reasons why. Yes, I'm on a mission to change this statistic.
Come along for the ride.

Listen to this podcast for a few easy tips. Then, get started. And don't be afraid to admit you don't know something.
In no particular order of preference, here are some movies about the stock market. Lots of recognizable actors. Some are even based on real life stories.
After almost 30 years as a wealth advisor, I've learned a few things about being a successful investor. Master these 4 skills and you will be a winner my friend. I also share my best "magic trick". Come on and give it a listen...it's only 5 minutes long!

Can you tell the difference between needs and wants? The lines are blurry. Also, how should you invest your money for each of them? (Hint: it depends on your time horizon.)
Does talking about money trigger you? Financial anxiety is not uncommon. What is uncommon is a wealth advisor who understands, and can help you work through it.
A little bit of "financial therapy" can help because once you figure out the root cause of your triggers, you can start to reframe your mind around money.
Have you ever felt negative emotions about your finances? What triggered you?

Has anyone ever asked you if you speak Spanish, French, or Mandarin? Personally I am proud to be fluent in 3 languages: English, French and the language of finance. Yes, I speak "Financial"!
There is so much jargon and acronyms in the financial world. It’s no wonder people struggle to comprehend this language. This is why my clients often call me their translator. By the way, it's ok to admit you don't know something. I suppose that's why you are listening to this podcast...
Stay wealthy,
Natalie.

This is a special Women & Wealth ® episode, because longevity is a real risk to women's long-term financial stability.
Nobody has an expiry date on their forehead, but age 100 could actually happen for many of us. You might want to rethink gifting those "early inheritances" to your adult children.

Yes, I will admit it…I have favourite clients. They are rated triple AAA. But before I tell you who they are, let me highlight who I don’t work with.

This episode is all about TRUST. Who do you trust with your biggest asset? People are so afraid to hire a contractor or a wealth advisor, because they are about to invest a lot of money, and they don't know in advance if the result will delight or disappoint. If you've been burned before, then it's time to put your trust in a wealth manager that acts like Mike Holmes and "Makes It Right".
Did you know that 1 in 4 Canadians over the age of 30 are providing care for someone? This episode only scratches the surface of what's involved in caregiving. It's a very complex issue. If you are acting as a Power of Attorney for an aging parent, please rely on your wealth advisor to help you navigate the emotional and financial aspects of this stage of life. #womenandwealth
In this episode, I discuss why I purchased more life insurance during COVID...and no it's NOT for the reason you think! I will also share 8 key factors in calculating how much life insurance you actually need. For more info, please contact me via my website: www.jamison.ca Postscript Note: waiving of para-medical requirements (blood, urine, etc) was unique to early 2020, during the first pandemic lockdown. Most insurance companies today still require this as part of your application for insurance.
