Jay brings two Prince related items to the table this episode. First up, we listen to a track from “Welcome 2 America”, the first Prince album released posthumously. We discussed this back in Episode 15 when it was announced that the estate would be releasing material from the archive. We were for it then & we stand by that position now. Next up, Prince’s youngest three siblings have sold their rights to the estate to a large NY publisher that plans to use his music for licensing and promotional deals while the oldest three siblings maintain ownership and vow to keep Prince’s legacy intact….so there’s also that to keep an eye on...Song: Prince - Check The RecordFollowing “Lost in the Shuffle” last week, Nick decided it was time for a discussion about time…specifically time signatures. ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill passed at the age of 69, ending the band’s 51 year run as the longest surviving band with its original members intact.
