Description

We believe legal information should be accessible for everyone–so, naturally, we made a podcast about it!

Based in the city of Hamilton, the Social Planning and Research Council currently hosts two legal information projects: the Family Learning Project and the Tools for Tenant Rights Project. Both projects seek to increase access to information about Ontario’s laws while making it fun!

Join us on this journey where we explore Ontario's family and housing legal systems, engage with lawyers, paralegals and community workers, and even interview some four-legged friends.

Some fun disclaimers: while financially supported by The Law Foundation of Ontario, the Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton is solely responsible for all content. This podcast is not a substitute for legal advice; if you have specific questions about your situation, contact a lawyer who practices in that area of law.

In this episode, we talk about the difference between legal information and legal advice and how Housing Law and Family Law fit within Canada's broader legal system. This episode also includes a guest appearance feature by Hamilton Community Legal Clinic Lawyer, Sharon Crowe.
What is the LIFE Podcast? Legal information for whom? What type of legal information will the series cover? Will this series offer legal advice (hint: no–we surely are not lawyers or registered members with the Law Society of Ontario!)? Listen to this trailer episode to get answers to all of these questions and more! PS: Remember to tune into the rest of the series too–the fun doesn't end here!
