The Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers are knotted up at 1-1 through two games of their first round series, and Gyro Step host Ti Windisch was joined by Locked on Pacers host Tony East to check in on the series as it shifts to Indiana. Ti and Tony discussed how Damian Lillard and Pascal Siakam have been impossible to stop for both teams, adjustments the teams have already made and what could come next in the chess match between Doc Rivers and Rick Carlisle, the importance of the Bucks finding ways to keep up with Indiana’s pace, whether Milwaukee needs to force Tyrese Haliburton to score more if his supporting cast can keep hitting shots, and more. Follow Tony for his outstanding Pacers coverage, and if you'd like to view this podcast as a video check out the Locked on Pacers YouTube channel. The Milwaukee Bucks got another great game from Damian Lillard but the rest of the Bucks couldn't step up when the Indiana Pacers sent help, and the Pacers' improved shooting led to a dispiriting 125-108 Game 2 loss. Ti Windisch, Jordan Treske, and Numac convened after the game to discuss how the Bucks can bounce back before Games 3 and 4 in Indiana. The Milwaukee Bucks got a huge Game 1 win without Giannis Antetokounmpo, as Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton, and a great Bucks defensive effort stymied the Indiana Pacers and the Bucks won 109-94. Ti Windisch, Rohan Katti, and Jordan Treske covered their general excitement and what they saw on Sunday live on the GSPN Bucks postgame show on YouTube, including breakdowns of every player who logged minutes for the Bucks, and a focus on Doc Rivers earning his doctorate back with a strong Bucks debut. The Milwaukee Bucks’ first-round series was never going to feel particularly easy with the way the Bucks stumbled to the finish line of the 2023-24 NBA season, and losing Giannis Antetokounmpo for at least part of the series only intensified the challenge looming in the spunky Indiana Pacers for Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton, and the remaining Bucks. To prepare for the series, Ti Windisch of the Gyro Step sat down with Alex Golden of the Setting the Pace podcast to go over the starters matching up on both ends, as well as key bench players for both sides, and general factors that feel important to the series (especially pace). Gyro Step listeners, check out Setting the Pace wherever you get your podcasts for the opposition intel this series! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The Milwaukee Bucks tip off their first NBA Playoffs series with Damian Lillard in less than a week, so Ti Windisch of the Gyro Step and Bart Winkler of Into the Winkerverse took stock of the Bucks where they're at, evaluated their wildly uneven 2023-24 NBA regular season, discussed how they can respond with Giannis Antetokounmpo hampered for another playoff run, and shared whether they believe the Bucks are more likely to lose to the Indiana Pacers in the first round or make it to a dogfight with the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Milwaukee Bucks fell apart after a strong start in Orlando, and will not see the Magic in the playoffs after losing their last game of the season and failing to reach 50 wins on the season. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti of the Gyro Step podcast discuss the ugly loss, the bad spot the Bucks find themselves in with the NBA Playoffs looming, and their first round opponent, the Indiana Pacers, as well as the Bucks entire playoff bracket outlook now. Key Bucks factors in the playoffs, including Giannis Antetokounmpo's health, Damian Lillard's level of play, and X-factor role players like AJ Green and Pat Bev were also covered. Thank whatever deity you choose and put down the blessing oil, as Giannis Antetokounmpo has reportedly avoided a major lower leg injury and instead is suffering from a still tricky but not disastrous calf strain according to The Athletic. Ti Windisch of the Gyro Step went live on Playback early Wednesday morning to discuss his reaction to the news, what the Bucks NEED to do as a result (win without him and not rush him back early under any circumstances), shared his reaction to the great Milwaukee Bucks win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night including big rotation changes, and mostly just exhaled. The Milwaukee Bucks lost their fourth consecutive game on Sunday night, immediately surrendering a halftime lead they held over the New York Knicks and getting dominated late by role players with Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo on the court after Khris Middleton left in the first half with “mouth trauma.” Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti recorded right after the game and went through it together, yelling about how bad the Bucks have become and trying to pinpoint exactly how they’ve reached this point and if there’s any hope to salvage the season. They also discussed if the Dame trade was a mistake (with hindsight, not in the moment) and more unfun talking points. The Milwaukee Bucks have had an uneven week, starting with an outstanding blowout of the Oklahoma City Thunder, followed by back-to-back tough losses against the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans, before Milwaukee notched a nice with without Damian Lillard against the Atlanta Hawks on the road. With so much inconsistency on display, Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti had a simple question broken into several parts to discuss: do they trust the Bucks heading into the NBA Playoffs? Ti and Rohan broke the question into pieces, first deciding they definitely trust Giannis Antetokounmpo no matter what before then diving into Dame Lillard, Khris Middleton, the big rotation of Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis, Malik Beasley as the fifth starter, the bench unit of Pat Bev, Pat Connaughton, Jae Crowder, and Portis (plus A.J. Green), Milwaukee's place in the standings pre-Playoffs, and finally the coaching performance of Doc Rivers. Finally, Ti and Rohan shared if they currently trust the Bucks to win a championship. The Milwaukee Bucks showcased their defensive potential in Doc Rivers’ scheme by blowing out the Western Conference’s top seeded Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night thanks to stifling paint presence and rotations against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and company, despite Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton having relatively pedestrian scoring games. Ti Windisch and Jordan Treske recorded right after the game to discuss the dominating Bucks defense, how the collective team came together vs singular players going off, Giannis Antetokounmpo as the lone exception to that as he was too much for the tiny Thunder all night, and looked ahead to how the playoff seeding is looking for the Bucks as their claim on the 2 seed grows with just 11 games to play in the 2023-24 season. The Milwaukee Bucks face off against the Boston Celtics for the third time this season on Wednesday night, so Ti Windisch of the Gyro Step sat down with Adam Taylor of the Green with Envy podcast to preview the game and the matchup in general. Ti and Adam discussed the Bucks' shifting defense under Doc Rivers, the developing two-man game of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, and Ti lobbed questions about the Celtics big man rotation and if Boston has any weakness Adam's way toward the end. Their conversation was recorded before a report from Shams Charania was posted informing us that Giannis is not expected to play against the Celtics, so Ti covered that and further frustration toward unclear injury reporting in an intro added afterward. The Milwaukee Bucks felt the impact of Khris Middleton’s return to the court immediately on Sunday afternoon, as even with Giannis Antetokounmpo sitting out to rest up the Bucks were able to dismantle the Phoenix Suns thanks to Middleton picking up right where he left off in terms of efficient scoring and playmaking, Damian Lillard putting up the first 30 point/15 assist game in Bucks history, and Bobby Portis pouring in buckets all night and out-playing Kevin Durant with his 31 point performance in front of the raucous home crowd. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti discussed those major performances, as well as other encouraging notes like Jae Crowder’s shot dropping more often before going into the Bucks playoff rotation and a brief look ahead to Bucks/Celtics on Wednesday. After a disheartening start to their West Coast road trip including getting blown out in Golden State and losing a frustrating game to the Lakers, the Milwaukee Bucks managed a closer-than-you’d-like win over the Los Angeles Clippers thanks in large part to Damian Lillard taking over late in the fourth to ensure the Bucks held on. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti talked through the bad and the good of the road trip, in order, starting with the Bucks lack of consistent defense on display out West and also covering Doc Rivers’ lineup decisions, Jae Crowder’s offensive struggles, Dame looking like himself, Pat Connaughton and Bobby Portis continuing to play well, and Giannis Antetokounmpo still managing to destroy worlds even while looking hampered by his Achilles injury. The Milwaukee Bucks pulled out maybe their best win of the season on Monday night, as Damian Lillard dropped 41 points, Bobby Portis dominated the paint and glass off the bench, and the Bucks without Giannis Antetokounmpo or Khris Middleton mounted a 15 point comeback and beat the Los Angeles Clippers. Ti Windisch went live on Playback the next morning to share a bunch of thoughts from the game and chat with listeners who shared their big takeaways as well, including the aforementioned great games from Dame and Bobby Buckets, Doc Rivers again showing he’s putting the Bucks in position to succeed, AJ Green stepping up in a massive way, and Pat Bev continuing to be everything this Bucks team needs him to be.
