Tonight we continue down the list of Stephen King's film adaptations. This segment we cover the 90's. We believe this is the most prolific if not the best period of his filmography.
Pelican Blood is a 2019 German-Bulgarian drama horror film directed by Katrin Gebbe and starring the wonderfully talented Nina Hoss. The film was screened in the Horizons section at the 76th Venice International Film Festival and won the Méliès d'Or for Best European Fantastic Film. There's plenty to like about Pelican Blood, from its serene yet gripping cinematography , its sharply tuned script and standout performance from Nina Hoss. Writer and director Katrin Gebbe has weaved a tale of family trauma, the supernatural and the emotional toll both aspects can extract.Join Kevin Nickelson as he sits down with the filmmaker herself, Katrin Gebbe!
Actress Jasmine Kheen is a huge fan of horror, and it shows. Her performance in R.I.P. Man is genuine and engaging. R.I.P. Man is her first feature film, but we couldn't tell! Kevin Nickelson and Al Omega dig into this horror feature ( that already has a sequel in the works) . We spend time talking about filming in England and how important real sets are to an actor's performance.
Today we bring you something different: our forbidden but needed love of ghost tours! Mr. Charles Rosenay of the Dracula Tours stops by the podcast to share stories of spooky encounters and wonders galore. While we enjoy taking deep dives into the realm of horror fiction what Charles offers is the chance to experience the supernatural for real. The fee is $3,000 USD ( on average) which includes everything outside of trips to the gift shop. Charles has us convinced we need to be a part of his tour, and we think at minimum your curiosity may be piqued. To learn more visit: http://www.toursandevents.com/dractours/index.htm

It's so common it has to be a running gag now: no matter how many people start off in a haunted house or slasher movie a female always lives. Most times she is the only one. Ian Liberatore is changing this: how about a man lives? Wild right? But wait, there's more. What if he was part of the LGBTQIA+ community? Now we're onto something different. In Final Boy, following a tragic death, a group of six friends spend a weekend in the mountains to celebrate the life of their late friend only to be encountered by someone or something that takes them out one by one.Join Anthony DeRouen, Al Omega and Kevin Nickelson as we break down the finer points in The Final Boy.

Weapons (2025) is moving to become Zach Cregger's highest grossing film against the production budget, and for good reason: this movie is solid! Acting, writing, camera work, music, all high quality. John Brolin is showing us what he deserves to be in more serious-minded horror films like this.Zach Cregger's first hit was Barbarian (2022) which did well. Barbarian, like Weapons, follows multiple protagonists in a non-linear format. When it's done well this format is highly-effective in keeping audiences unsettled. Join Kevin Nickelson and Anthony DeRouen as we disucss what happened to the kids in Weapons!
Dark Windows (2023) is a slow burn horror film that asks you engage with the cast before the scares come. It's a film that spawned from Alex's teen year which he spent observing his age group, good and bad. Dark Windows is a reflection about the choices you make in your life early on, and the repercussions you can face later.A film consisting of many layers and subtexts, we're pleased to take a dive into this gripping thriller and touch on our own experiences we think relate.
That's quite a proclamation, we know. It's the mission of Brett Ryan Bonowicz and the Odyssey Film Institute to both recover lost 35mm treasures but showcase the wonders of celluloid to the willing masses. We were thrilled to have Brett on our show to talk about the Odyssey Film Institute rapid growth since 2023, the ways they recover lost film and their plans for the spooky season.
He's the go-to actor for friend of the podcast and director Ansel Faraj, who we have covered extensively here. Released in 1988 during the peak toy commercialization era Child's Play is a subversion of the nastiest kind. Up until now children's toys were largely kept innocent but writer and director Tom Holland had other ideas.Child's Play was Tom Holland's second directorial effort after Fright Night (1985) and it was quickly apparent Hollywood had an elite filmmaker in their midst. Child's Play would go on to spawn a franchise very much mirroring the numerous ways our child protagonist (played by Alex Vincent) emulated his favorite toy, and Chucky would stand upon the great icons of horror.
The Activated Man is a horror thriller, written and directed by Nicholas Gyeney that deals with the loss of a pet, something many of us can relate to. Losing a pet can feel like losing a family member which is why the main protagonist endures a spiring descent into madness. The Activated Man features some cool effects, tense moments, and good acting, and we applaud Nicholas Gyeney for trying something new with the genre! You can find The Activated Man streaming in numerous places, and free on the Roku channel.
Released on June 20, 1975 to a massive 464 screens (that was big back then!) Steven Spielberg's blockbuster thriller instilled fear along beaches everywhere and ignited the summer movie phenomenon. We revisit this classic tale and discuss the different aspects of what we think still makes Jaws one of the greatest films of all time.
