In the days leading up to the attack on Iran, a rift formed between the Pentagon and AI company Anthropic. The dispute rose over restrictions the company imposed on the AI model used in US intelligence and military operations. The feud, interesting in its own right, provided insight into how the government is using AI in the theater of war.The Heartland Institute's Donald Kendal, S.T. Karnick, Jim Lakely, and Chris Talgo will talk about all of this and more on Episode #529 of the In The Tank Podcast.Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET on YouTube, Rumble, X, and Facebook.Visit our sponsor, Advisor Metals: https://climaterealismshow.com/metals In The Tank broadcasts LIVE every Thursday at 12pm CT on on The Heartland Institute YouTube channel. The ideas are not new, and it’s short on specifics, but will President Trump’s “The Great Healthcare Plan” lead to serious health reform? AnneMarie Schieber, managing editor of Health Care News and Devon Herrick, of the Goodman Institute Health Blog  discuss the pros and cons of the plan’s “four pillars.” Will price transparency mean anything in a dysfunctional health care system where few people pay directly?  Are Trump’s drug price deals the kind of drug price reform patients need?  Will proposed ACA rules lead to lower cost  “indemnity” style  health insurance? Also, Sen. Rand Paul wants to remove nationwide liability protections for vaccine makers, what about ending vaccine mandates, and Elon Musk and DOGE make it easy to “crowdsource” Medicaid fraud investigations.  In The Tank broadcasts LIVE every Thursday at 12pm CT on on The Heartland Institute YouTube channel. An encouraging trend is growing. Bright young people who were convinced of the truth of climate alarmist dogma open their eyes and mind to the actual data on the climate. Then they become climate realists, and even evangelists for science and truth. Anika Sweetland is one of those people. She is a former energy advisor with a degree in climate studies who gave an address on her awakening at Heartland's World Prosperity Forum last month. And she's one of the UK's best public opponents of that country's Net Zero policy and keeps a keen eye on the climate communism of the European Union.Anika joins us to talk about her journey, and also comment on some of the Crazy Climate News of the week, including a proposal to chop down boreal forests in the far north and throw the wood into the Arctic Ocean, how stupid and counterproductive California’s aversion to oil refining really is, and how the European Union may be poised to make countering the climate alarmist narrative illegal.Join The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, Linnea Lueken, Jim Lakely, and special guest Anika Sweetland LIVE at 1 p.m. ET on YouTube, Rumble, X, and Facebook. New York City is struggling with its budget, and despite Mayor Mamdani campaigning on affordable housing, he’s now turning to property tax hikes to try to close the gap. This is fairly typical for Democrats—and totally unsurprising. Meanwhile, Trump struck a deal with Japan that looks poised to sidestep China while also boosting American energy abundance. We’ll also cover socialism in our schools—how bad it really is—and how to counter it.And on UNHINGED: the Obama Presidential Center, scheduled to open this spring, is astonishingly ugly—and fitting for the Obama legacy. The Heartland Institute’s Linnea Lueken, S.T. It’s finally done. The Trump administration on Thursday announced that the Endangerment Finding for carbon dioxide is dead. No longer will the federal government treat CO2 as a gas that harms human health and welfare. It has been the lynchpin of regulatory overreach for nearly two decades, morphing into a way for the Biden administration to all but outlaw the internal combustion engine. President Trump said the Endangerment Finding has cost the U.S. economy more than $1 trillion, and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said the repeal will make the annoying “auto off” switch in new automobiles no longer mandatory.Does the end of the Endangerment Finding mean the death of the climate hoax? How significant is this move, really, if it doesn’t directly address CO2 emissions from coal and natural gas power plants? Will it survive a court challenge? What more must be done to restore science and common sense to public policy? The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, Linnea Lueken, Jim Lakely, and special guest Lois Perry will tackle this subject, plus other Crazy Climate News of the Week. Justin Haskins joins us to talk about his and Jack McPherrin's new book, "The Next Big Crash," covering the shady dealings of Wall Street insiders and elites who have conspired to rig our economy and transfer control over our futures to massive financial interests. When the next crash comes, it could very well be more devastating than any before. On a brighter note, federal employment is at the lowest level it has been since 1966, showing that the Trump administration really has made progress on cutting federal bloat, while American private sector jobs are improving. Meanwhile, the SAVE America Act may be passed soon, but Democrats say it will disenfranchise voters by requiring them to simply have ID.On UNHINGED: How would you feel about living in a constant, ubiquitous surveillance state? Ring is more than happy to provide, but promises it will only be used for finding lost dogs. The Heartland Institute's Linnea Lueken, S.T. The election of Donald Trump in 2024 looked like it brought an end to the previous administration’s radical environmental policies. America walked out on the global climate scammers, canceled green energy projects, and is still trying to claw back billions of dollars shoveled out the door to Democrat-linked groups in the waning days of the Biden administration. But one of the worst environmental policies of all, like a zombie, is still wandering around Washington. A spending bill that passed the Senate recently included a provision directing the Department of Energy to review the “carbon intensity” of American-made products and compare the CO₂ emissions with similar products imported to the United States. Such provisions are how carbon taxes, or even carbon tariffs, come to life. What’s going on here? And can this be stopped? The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely will tackle this subject, plus other Crazy Climate News of the Week.Visit our sponsor, Advisor Metals: https://climaterealismshow.com/metals In The Tank broadcasts LIVE every Thursday at 12pm CT on on The Heartland Institute YouTube channel. This week, Bitcoin is DOWN, but does that mean anything to those of us who don't own it? Some argue that it indicates the dollar is strengthening, which is good news for affordability. AND the Washington Post has laid off a third of their staff, journalists are unemployed all over the place, and it could mean the beginning of the end for the far-left publication. Finally school is out... all the time, it seems, because students seem to be missing class for protests, snow weeks, all kinds of things that aren't school. In New York City, Mamdani's government is focusing on removing programs for high-achievers, and refocusing on "green" initiatives. For UNHINGED: Kathy Griffin is at it again, this time she is angry that First Lady Melania Trump's documentary is doing well, and recommends you turn in your pesky MAGA neighbors. The Heartland Institute's Linnea Lueken, S.T. Heartland’s Tim Benson is joined once again by Daniel J. Mahoney, professor emeritus at Assumption University and senior fellow at the Claremont Institute for the Study of Statesmanship and Political Philosophy, to discuss his latest book, The Persistence of the Ideological Lie: The Totalitarian Impulse Then and Now. They chat about what is the “Ideological Lie,” how the totalitarians from the Jacobins onward have relied on it, and how our failure to learn from the totalitarian tragedy of the twentieth century allowed the ideological virus to metastasize in new and alarming ways.Get the book here: https://www.encounterbooks.com/books/persistence-ideological-lie/Show Notes:The American Mind: Daniel J. The scale of fraud in federal entitlement programs is truly staggering with some estimates reaching into the TRILLIONS, and we have to ask, who can be held accountable for all this?Fresh off the plane home from Switzerland, Linnea, Donald, and Jim discuss the Heartland Institute's inaugural WORLD PROSPERITY FORUM, the antidote to the globalism of the World Economic Forum held at Davos every year... which Linnea and Donald may or may not have also gone to visit while in Europe. And on UNHINGED: An insane viral video of a nurse shows her instructing "resistors" on how to harm ICE agents. How did we even get to this point? And why on Earth are there so many videos like this? The Heartland Institute's Linnea Lueken, S.T. Most of the United States is enduring the worst winter weather in years, digging out of a foot or more of snow and enduring record-breaking temperatures well below normal. It’s simply miserable out there. Yet, comically, the legacy media is blaming it all on global warming or man-caused climate change. We will counter some of the myth-peddling out there, and we can all give each other comfort in our chilly misery. With special guest Steve Milloy of Junkscience.com, we will also cover some of the Crazy Climate News of the Week, including radical activists being allowed to write guidance for federal judges on climate science, trying to make money by pumping poop into the ground, a status update on getting rid of the “Endangerment Finding” for CO2, and a look at Al Gore’s comedy classic “An Inconvenient Truth” on its 20th anniversary.Join The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely LIVE at 1 p.m. ET on YouTube, Rumble, X, and Facebook. President Donald Trump on Wednesday withdrew the United States from the United Nations’ Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also announced that the United States is out of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for developing countries. The Trump administration also withdrew the U.S. from more than 60 other international organizations, including dozens of U.N.–linked bodies. This is a breathtaking and historic move by Trump — something that was simply unimaginable until it actually happened. On the first episode of The Climate Realism Show of 2026, The Heartland Institute’s Jim Lakely, Anthony Watts, Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken will discuss what this means for the future of the global climate agenda. We will also welcome a special guest, Lucy Biggers. Once a die-in-the-wool climate alarmist and prominent activist, Lucy came to see the light and the truth, and is now one of America’s best communicators for climate realism. We will talk with her about her remarkable journey.Visit our sponsor, Advisor Metals: https://climaterealismshow.com/metalsLucy Biggers on social media:https://x.com/LLBiggershttps://www.instagram.com/LucyBiggers/ In The Tank broadcasts LIVE every Thursday at 12pm CT on on The Heartland Institute YouTube channel. On In The Tank Podcast #523, Linnea Lueken, Jim Lakely, Chris Talgo, and S.T. Karnick break down the latest reminders that socialism doesn’t “fix” anything—it wrecks it. From political theater in Washington to chaos in corporate America, and from Venezuela’s collapse to what’s brewing in New York City, the panel connects the dots on how bad ideas keep spreading. The panel digs into Democrats holding a candlelight vigil… for Jan. 6. Then the crew looks at a Hilton franchise caught in a PR firestorm after targeting ICE bookings, and asks the obvious question: when did basic law enforcement become a corporate punching bag?The conversation also turns to Venezuela’s oil—why anyone still wants access to it, what decades of socialism did to the country, and why America shouldn’t be taking notes. Finally, the panel looks at NYC’s trajectory, including Mamdani’s tenant-power agenda and what it could mean for the city if these policies keep gaining ground.Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET every Friday on YouTube, Rumble, X, and Facebook.Visit our sponsor, Advisor Metals: https://climaterealismshow.com/metals In The Tank broadcasts LIVE every Thursday at 12pm CT on on The Heartland Institute YouTube channel. Hollywood is at a breaking point—and audiences can feel it.On In the Tank Podcast #522, Linnea Lueken, Jim Lakely, Chris Talgo, S.T. Karnick, and Donald Kendal dig into what’s reshaping movies and TV right now: DEI-era gatekeeping, studios quietly changing course, shrinking opportunities for creators, and the growing role of AI in entertainment. They’re joined by Christian Toto, returning for his fifth annual appearance, to break down how Hollywood’s incentives filtered out creative voices—and why so many films now feel safe, preachy, and lifeless. The panel also tackles Disney’s new AI deal involving OpenAI’s Sora platform and what it means for writers, actors, and storytelling itself. Plus: the crew runs through their “Unhinged” list of the worst movies and TV of 2025—and what might actually be worth watching next.If Hollywood has lost its edge, this episode explores why—and what comes next.Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET every Friday on YouTube, Rumble, X, and Facebook.Visit our sponsor, Advisor Metals: https://climaterealismshow.com/metalsChapters: 00:33 Intro01:57 Special Guest Introduction03:55 Support Our Sponsor! 05:50 Unhinged: Worst Movies of 2025 22:08 Film Affected By DEI49:15 AI in Movies? The signs are all around us. The climate cult is losing its grip on our politics and culture. The UN’s climate conference, COP30 in Brazil, was a flop that even the alarmist cheerleaders in the legacy media could not ignore. A major paper justifying radical climate action was just retracted. The Sierra Club is shedding a shocking number of members. And when was the last time you saw climate alarmist propaganda shoved annoyingly into your favorite TV show or movie – which was very common not so long ago?The Heartland Institute’s Jim Lakely, Anthony Watts, Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken will be joined by special guest Jason Isaac, Founder and CEO of the American Energy Institute and a former state legislator in Texas. The latest annual UN climate conference, COP 30, is coming to a close. Already a failure, the delegates of doom who gathered in Brazil decided that they needed a serious goal to cap off the conference. What did they come up with? Nothing less than the coming up with a concrete roadmap for the complete phase-out of fossil fuels. They might as well have agreed on drawing out a roadmap to Neverland, because that’s just as likely to be found as a future with zero use of fossil fuels. The Heartland Institute's Jim Lakely, Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken will be joined by special guests Craig Rucker of CFACT, who just got back from COP 30 in Brazil, and Tony Heller, one of the most-popular and influential climate realism communicators in America. We will also cover also cover some of the Crazy Climate News of the Week, including an exodus from EPA, what climate policy failure looks like in graph form, perhaps the cringiest moment in COP history, and Donald Trump’s call to have those who have pushed climate alarmism investigated. In Episode 182 of Ill Literacy, Tim Benson talks with Jonathan W. White, co-editor ofMeasuring the Man: The Writings of Frederick Douglass on Abraham Lincoln.Heartland’s Tim Benson is joined once again by Jonathan W. White, Professor of American Studies at Christopher Newport University, to discuss his latest book, co-edited with Lucas E. Morel, Measuring the Man: The Writings of Frederick Douglass on Abraham Lincoln. They chat about how White discovered a cache of unknown, insightful letters in England by Douglass on Lincoln, the distrust and vitriol Douglass directed at Lincoln as he moved slowly and methodically toward emancipation, how three personal interactions between the two led to powerful feelings of friendship and mutual admiration, and how, after Lincoln’s assassination, Douglass expressed greater appreciation for Lincoln’s statesmanship during the Civil War and praised him as a model for postwar America.
