Want to be a better reader? Bill Gates the former CEO of Microsoft and one of the richest men in the world said that he reads about 50 #books a year. Here are eight productivity #tips that I find helpful for #reading more effectively and consistently. Β Β For me reading has been a super power. I've been able to learn from mentors who I've never met by reading autobiographies, taught myself how to scale every element of a business and grown as a person by applying what I've learned from books. I routinely read 2-3 books each week and did so during my time working as a surgeon and now as the CEO of a tech business.
When scaling businesses I've used lots of frameworks to help align people and Β track goals and in this bite I'm going to look at one specific framework made popular by Google called Objectives and Key Results or OKRs I'll give a brief overview of what OKRs are and how they work and then some practical advice on how you can use them to grow your business and improve productivity. Check out our OKR tracking template right here. Make sure to subscribe to Alex's YouTube channel at virti.com/alex!
In todays episode, I discuss the Virti Journey, from our company's roots, to our growth to our Series A funding round of $10 Million Dollars.Β  We announced a Series A round of $10m for Virti led by IQ Capital with participation from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Fundraising is considered by some founders to be the hardest part of scaling a technology company. For me, this round was the opportunity to accelerate our mission to improve human performance by fundamentally changing how people learn, train and perform.
Despite having graduated from medical school in 2009 I can still remember a ton of medical facts and anatomical knowledge in a huge amount of detail because I learned it over a long period of time. Whether you're studying for an exam or learning a new language you want to ensure that you are maximising your time and learning as efficiently as possible to get the maximum benefit from your learning.
Being productive is all about having a process that predictably achieves your goals. Whether studying for an exam, launching a product or building muscle you need to have a process that reliably and efficiently helps you to succeed. Having a reliable process that predictably helps me to complete tasks quickly is the cornerstone of my productivity. I've used this process for scaling companies, generating passive income, staying fit and developing pretty much everything that I do and I honed it down over time. The 5 phases: planning, research, prototype, implementation and reflection can be applied to literally anything and I'm going to break each down for you below.
