In episodes 35 and 36, back in late 2020, I told you the story of 9-month-old Jacob Landin, a tiny boy with a big laugh and an even bigger personality. Jacob died in April 1987 from a severe traumatic brain injury. When the injury occurred, he was in the care of his mom’s boyfriend, Steven Chavez, who told several different stories to Brenda Landin, medical professionals, and investigators. Despite being the only suspect, failing a polygraph, and reportedly confessing to police, Steven was never prosecuted for Jacob’s murder, and he went on to abuse and terrorize Jacob’s mom and brother for years afterward. For this bonus episode, I spoke again with Eric Carter-Landin, Jacob’s big brother and the host of the True Consequences podcast. We discussed Eric and Brenda’s efforts to get justice for Jacob, the New Mexico Attorney General’s refusal to treat Jacob and his family with the respect they deserve, why they finally decided to name Steven after all these years, and how we can help by getting on board with the current 10 Days of Jacob campaign.Attorney General “Contact Us” form: https://nmdoj.gov/contact-us New Mexico Department of JusticeOffice of the Attorney General, Raúl Torrez201 3rd St. NWAlbuquerque, NM 87102(505) 490-4060 Episode 35: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/re-release-episode-35-jacob-landin-part-1--47429959Episode 36: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/re-release-episode-36-jacob-landin-part-2--47429996 True Consequences - NM Forgotten Child - Jacob Jeremiah Landin, part 1: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/nm-forgotten-child-jacob-jeremiah-landin--25919867Part 2: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/nm-forgotten-child-jacob-jeremiah-landin-part-2--26727541Part 3: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/nm-forgotten-child-jacob-jeremiah-landin-part-3--25919870True Consequences - A Brother’s Love: Justice for Jacob Landin: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/a-brother-s-love-justice-for-jacob-landin--59154357True Consequences - A Family’s Love: Justice for Jacob: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/a-family-s-love-justice-for-jacob--59239092 Photos related to today's episode can be viewed on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpod You can also follow the podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/STLCpodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@STLCpodMy Linktree is available here: https://linktr.ee/stlcpod Visit the podcast's web page at https://www.sufferthelittlechildrenpod.com. Please help me devote myself to the podcast full-time to keep the weekly episodes coming! In the last episode, I told you the first part of the story of three-year-old Arabella Parker, who was rushed to the hospital on October 10, 2019, reportedly suffering from a seizure. Because medical staff wasn’t told that the seizure resulted from severe head trauma, the damage was irreparable, and Arabella died on November 22, 2019.In this episode, I’ll take you through the hearings and the trials of the three people accused of allowing, causing, or covering up the reason for Arabella’s death: her mother, Samantha Delcamp; Samantha’s boyfriend, Jahrid Burgess; and Jahrid’s mother, Christy Willis. In the next episode, you’ll hear my conversations with several people close to Arabella’s case. This is part two of the complex, tragic story of Arabella Parker, retold. The Crime Wire article, “Amanda Parker, Samantha Delcamp, and the Domestic Violence Debate”: https://thecrimewire.com/multifarious/woman-who-berated-samantha-delcamp-is-branded-a-hypocrite Beyond Duress: Supporting the Admissibility of Evidence of Battered Woman Syndrome to Aid the Defenses of Battered Mothers Charged with Failing to Protect Their Children Against Their Common Abuser: https://aulawreview.org/blog/beyond-duress-supporting-the-admissibility-of-evidence-of-battered-woman-syndrome/ Photos related to today's episode can be viewed on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpod You can also follow the podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/STLCpodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@STLCpodMy Linktree is available here: https://linktr.ee/stlcpod Visit the podcast's web page at https://www.sufferthelittlechildrenpod.com. Please help me devote myself to the podcast full-time to keep the weekly episodes coming! Four years ago, in episodes 16 and 17, I told you the tragic story of 3-year-old Arabella Parker. Because that was so early in my podcasting journey, I’m not satisfied with my coverage of her story, so I’m revisiting it in an all-new, comprehensive re-telling as I’ve never told it before: with the help of her family and others. On October 10, 2019, Arabella reportedly suffered a seizure at her home in Trevorton, Pennsylvania. At the hospital, doctors immediately suspected child abuse based on her multitude of injuries, which included a head injury so severe that they had to remove part of Arabella’s brain. Her mother’s boyfriend, Jahrid Burgess, was arrested almost immediately. After her mother, Samantha Delcamp, gave multiple conflicting statements to police, to reporters, and even on The Steve Wilkos Show, Samantha was also arrested. When the tiny, beloved red-haired girl died after six weeks on life support, Jahrid and Samantha’s charges were upgraded to homicide. This is part one of the complex, tragic story of Arabella Parker, retold. Thanks to Magic Mind for sponsoring the show! (This episode was originally released in April 2022.)On the morning of Wednesday, March 18, 2020, police in Bakersfield, California responded to an apartment on a report of an eight-year-old child not breathing. Although Ger’Mya Alexander was rushed to the hospital, she died of her injuries the same day. Her mother’s boyfriend, 37-year-old Clint Mason, who had been caring for Ger’Mya when she was fatally injured, fled on foot and was apprehended the next morning. This is the story of a smart, sweet, caring little girl who adored her granny and sometimes got in trouble at school for talking too much. It’s also the story of her unnecessary, brutal death at the hands of a man she should have been able to trust to protect her. This is the heartbreaking story of Ger’Mya Alexander.Photos related to today's episode can be viewed on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpod You can also follow the podcast on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/STLCpodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@STLCpodMy Linktree is available here: https://linktr.ee/stlcpod Visit the podcast's web page at https://www.sufferthelittlechildrenpod.com. Please help me devote myself to the podcast full-time to keep the weekly episodes coming! In episodes 87 and 88, I told you the story of four-year-old Judah Morgan. Judah lived for most of his life in a foster care kinship placement with the family of his second cousin, Jenna Hullett. In April of 2021, Judah was returned to his biological parents, Alan Morgan and Mary Yoder, despite multiple red flags and warnings to DCS. Six months later, Alan and Mary were arrested for Judah’s brutal murder. In this episode, you’ll hear multiple updates to Judah’s story in my most recent conversation with his “real” mom, Jenna Hullett, who is truly one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever known. These are the most recent updates to the tragic story of Judah Morgan.Champions for Children Indiana Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/341950044468603justiceforjudah# Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/5145688765446786 Raylee’s Law Added to Homeschooling Bill: https://wvmetronews.com/2024/02/27/raylees-law-added-to-bill-in-house-on-homeschooling/ Episode 4: Raylee Browning: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/episode-4-raylee-browning--23972130 Episode 124: Hazel Homan (Part 1): https://www.spreaker.com/episode/episode-124-hazel-homan-part-1--51018848Episode 125: Hazel Homan (Part 2): https://www.spreaker.com/episode/episode-125-hazel-homan-part-2--51086828 Photos related to today's episode can be viewed on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpod You can also follow the podcast on:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/STLCpodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@STLCpodMy Linktree is available here: https://linktr.ee/stlcpod Visit the podcast's web page at https://www.sufferthelittlechildrenpod.com. On this podcast, I’ve told you the stories of many children whose deaths came at the hands of parents or guardians after extended periods of what can only be described as torture. Intra-familial child torture is a disturbingly common occurrence, and it has a 36% fatality rate for the children affected. In this episode, you’ll hear my conversation with childhood torture survivor and advocate Ali Davis. Ali survived 19 years of torture at the hands of one of her parents. On February 17, 2020, police in Fort Myers, Florida responded to a horrific single-vehicle accident in which a minivan carrying two women and a three-year-old girl veered off the road, hit several palm trees, and flipped over. The little girl, Serenity Robinson, was not in a car seat and was unrestrained. Her mother, Leslie Joe Zeagler, was found to be impaired by multiple controlled substances and survived with minor injuries. Serenity was not so lucky.Leslie was arrested and charged with manslaughter. Later, Fort Myers police officer Tyler Williams was also charged after prosecutors learned he had pulled Leslie over a month earlier, found illegal drugs in the van, and let her go because he didn’t feel like calling DCF that morning. Even though this officer’s intervention likely would have saved Serenity’s life, a judge dismissed the charges, and the only person prosecuted was her mother. In this episode, you’ll also hear my conversation with Serenity’s father, Randy Robinson, who hasn’t given up on getting justice for his baby girl. This is the infuriating story of Serenity Robinson. Thanks to Magic Mind for sponsoring the show! Last week, I told you about the abduction and murder of seven-year-old Joan D’Alessandro. On April 19, 1973, Joan was delivering Girl Scout cookies when her neighbor, Joseph McGowan, a high school science teacher, lured her into his basement, sexually assaulted her, and brutally beat and strangled the helpless little girl. McGowan pleaded guilty to felony murder and was sentenced to life in the New Jersey prison system with the possibility of parole after 14 years. In this episode, I’ll dig deep into McGowan’s various psychological evaluations and his interview with famed FBI profiler John Douglas, trying to reconcile the mild-mannered man McGowan appeared to be with the heinous rapist and murderer he became on Holy Thursday, 1973. Also in this episode, you’ll hear my conversation with Joan’s mother, Rosemarie D’Alessandro, who has spent decades advocating for children and victims’ families in her beloved daughter’s name. This is part 2 of the horrifying but incredibly inspiring story of Joan D’Alessandro. Thanks to Magic Mind for sponsoring the show! On April 19, 1973, seven-year-old Joan D’Alessandro left her family’s home in Hillsdale, New Jersey to deliver her last two boxes of Girl Scout cookies. She never returned. After a massive search and an intensive investigation, police zeroed in on the family’s neighbor, 27-year-old high school science teacher Joseph McGowan, who soon confessed that he had sexually abused and murdered Joan before dumping her body in Harriman State Park, just over the border in New York State. For decades, Joan’s mother, Rosemarie D’Alessandro, has led a charge to change laws, both state and federal, to better protect victims’ families. She has also created a nonprofit foundation focusing on child safety and programs for underprivileged youth. It is my great honor to help Rosemarie tell the story of her beautiful daughter, Joan, and how her memory has inspired decades of important work. This is part 1 of the horrifying but incredibly inspiring story of Joan D’Alessandro.Joan’s Joy website: https://joansjoy.orgRosemarie D’Alessandro’s book, The Message of Light Amid Letters of Darkness: https://www.amazon.com/Message-Light-Amid-Letters-Darkness-ebook/dp/B0CQRNWHXV/Joan’s Joy Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/joansjoypage/The Killer Across the Table by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker: https://www.amazon.com/Killer-Across-Table-Unlocking-Mindhunter-ebook/dp/B07G76Q6BG/Photos related to today's episode can be viewed on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodYou can also follow the podcast on:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/STLCpodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@STLCpodMy Linktree is available here: https://linktr.ee/stlcpodVisit the podcast's web page at https://www.sufferthelittlechildrenpod.com.Please help make the show my full-time gig to keep the weekly episodes coming! **This episode was originally released in June of 2021. I am re-releasing it due to the recent arrest of Lisa Jo Vanderlinden, the woman who spent less than a year in jail for Lucas's murder, on charges of abusing another child.**In 2017, Lucas Call and his baby sister were removed from their biological mother’s custody, in part because she had a learning disability and was unjustly deemed an unfit mother. They were placed in the care of a woman who had previously fostered upwards of 40 children. She was also a trained nurse who worked with the county government’s child abuse investigation team. Sixteen months later, in August of 2018, that woman called 911, reporting 2-year-old Lucas was unresponsive. After Lucas’s death was deemed a homicide caused by blunt force trauma, his foster mother, Lisa Jo Vanderlinden, was charged with his murder. After accepting a plea agreement, Lisa, who claimed to accept responsibility for Lucas’s death but never confessed to causing his injuries, received a sentence so shockingly inadequate that many have called for the judge’s removal from his position. In this episode, I’ll tell you Lucas’s story, and you’ll also hear my interview with Lucas’s great-grandma, Peggy Thompson, who shared with me her anger over the injustice of Lucas’s case, as well as some of her fondest memories of this sweet little boy. This is the infuriating story of Lucas Call. As a child, Antonia Deignan believed that her father’s nighttime visits to her bedroom showed the special love he had for her. Still, some part of her knew that what he was doing to her was wrong. She began to create fantasy worlds in her mind to escape. As Tuni grew up, she traded her fantasies for dancing, but her inner turmoil also manifested in self-destructive ways. After she suffered a serious bike accident that forced her to face the demons from her past, Tuni finally began to work through her trauma by writing a hauntingly beautiful memoir about her experiences. For today’s episode, I spoke with Tuni about her book, Underwater Daughter: A Memoir of Survival and Healing, which delves into the way childhood trauma affects every part of a person’s life going forward. This is Underwater Daughter, the story of Antonia Deignan. *Fallon Fridley should have turned 5 yesterday. I'm re-releasing this episode in her honor.*On December 9, 2020, in Sandy Springs, Georgia, two-year-old Fallon Fridley was spending the night at the home of her babysitter, who was also a good friend of Fallon’s mom, Kristin. The babysitter, Kirstie Flood, called 911 that evening to report little Fallon unresponsive, and Fallon was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Kirstie claimed Fallon had taken a fall earlier that day at the playground, but after incriminating online searches were found on her phone, Kirstie was arrested two days after Fallon’s death. As Kirstie continues to await trial, additional damning information has been discovered by investigators, including video footage of the actual crime. In this episode, you’ll also hear my conversation with Fallon’s heartbroken mommy, Kristin Gantt, who told me about her special little girl and how her loss has affected her family. This is the tragic story of Fallon Fridley.Justice for Fallon on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JusticeForFallon Parents of Murdered Children website: https://pomc.org/ Photos related to today's episode can be viewed on Facebook and Instagram:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodYou can also follow the podcast on: Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/sufferthelittlechildrenpodcast Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/STLCpodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@STLCpod My Linktree is available here: https://linktr.ee/stlcpod Visit the podcast's web page at https://www.sufferthelittlechildrenpod.com. Since I started making this podcast, I’ve told the stories of a number of children that have involved the failures of the family court system. So many names pop into my head when I think about it: Thomas Valva. Nakota Kelly. Averylee Hobbs. James Biel. Corey Micciolo. Since 2008, over 900 American children have died at the hands of a parent or guardian after involvement with the family court system, which punishes parents – especially mothers – for reporting domestic or child abuse.Ohio mom Sara Moore, who lost custody of both of her boys for that exact reason, has had enough. Earlier this year, Sara pledged to walk a total of 936 miles from Columbus to the White House and back, one mile for each of the 936 who lost their lives due to mistakes made by the family court system. This is the story of an embattled mother who will never stop fighting for her children and the quest she’s undertaken to draw attention to the epidemic of family court-related child deaths in this country. This is the inspiring story of 936 Miles for Mercy.Links discussed in this episode: Angels’ Voices Silenced No More: https://angelsvoicesnm.org Protect Kids from Family Court: https://www.facebook.com/events/s/protect-kids-from-family-court/1539696220169930/ Sara’s GoFundMe campaign: https://www.gofundme.com/f/protect-kids-from-family-court-936milesformercy Center for Judicial Excellence: https://centerforjudicialexcellence.org/ The Saunders study: https://barrygoldstein.net/component/tags/tag/the-saunders-studyUN Special Rapporteur Reem Alsalem’s United Nations (UN) report on custody and violence against women and children: https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2023/06/urgent-reforms-needed-protect-women-and-children-violence-custody-battles-un The Meier study: https://xyonline.net/sites/xyonline.net/files/2020-05/Meier%2C%20U.S.%20child%20custody%20outcomes%20in%20cases%20involving%20parental%20alienation%20and%20abuse%20allegations%202020.pdf CDC page on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs): https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/aces/index.html Avett Ray on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/2GRjyu6I8E355bDOvv6h8h?si=WhfBBI1WTUqw-2UoRbvE9Q Avett Ray on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEFFl4jVhSQLx-r-08kYtng Avett Ray on Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/avett-ray/1661435060 Avett Ray on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/avettray/ Avett Ray on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/avettray/ This episode is brought to you by Factor. For fifteen years you could call a private number in Manhattan and anonymously apologize for anything. It was called The Apology Line. This is the story of the phone line and the man at the other end who became consumed by his own creation. He was known as “Mr. Apology.”As thousands of callers flooded the line, confessing to everything from shoplifting to adultery, drug dealing, to murder, Mr. Apology realized he couldn’t just listen. He had to do something, even if it meant risking everything.Prime Members, you can binge all seven episodes of The Apology line exclusively on Amazon Music. In 1997, a pair of sisters in Elk Grove, California endured the unthinkable. Their mother and stepfather, Barbara and Larry Carrasco, abused methamphetamine and somehow became certain that Barbara’s daughters, 13-year-old Jessica and five-year-old Alexia, were possessed by demons and vampires. To exorcise the unwanted beings, Barbara and Larry began forcing the girls to drink bleach milkshakes three times a day for eight days. When Alexia died around June 19, 1997, Barbara and Larry forced Jessica to watch them do something unimaginably horrific. This is the story of two girls who didn’t stand a chance against the delusions and abuse of their mother and stepfather. It’s also an incredible story of the survival, strength, and perseverance of Jessica, who joins me on today’s episode to tell me about her sister, Alexia; the investigation into Alexia’s death; and how therapy has helped her to be the best possible mother to her own three daughters. This is the shocking story of Jessica and Alexia Reale.TW: animal abuseJessica’s book: https://www.amazon.com/Im-Not-Broken-Surviving-Demons-ebook/dp/B0BYY2Q4ZY/ Agent Rinek’s book: https://www.amazon.com/In-Name-of-Children-audiobook/dp/B07FCRWNDP/ Inside the Crime Files Podcast episode: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/people-v-carrasco-alexia-reale/id1623264426?i=1000601162219 Transcript of Jessica’s appearance on the Dr. Phil show in 2009: https://www.drphil.com/slideshows/caught-in-the-system-jessica/ Please write letters to the California Board of Parole Hearings (BPH), asking the board not to release either Larry or Barbara Carrasco! In episode 7, I told you the first part of the story of 12-year-old Alex Hurley. I provided updates on Alex’s case throughout the next three years. This past week, the last family member charged in Alex’s death was finally sentenced, so I’m revisiting Alex’s story in an all-new, comprehensive episode like I’ve never told it before. On February 3, 2020, first responders were summoned to a home in West Yellowstone, Montana, where they found 12-year-old Alex Hurley dead on the living room floor, battered and malnourished. Five people aged 14 to 48, including four paternal family members, were arrested and charged with various crimes surrounding Alex’s long-term systematic torture and eventual murder. In this episode, I’ll tell you Alex’s story as thoroughly as possible from start to finish. You’ll also hear my recent conversation with Alex’s mom, Alicia Davis, who told me all about the happy, active boy she nicknamed “Bubba Brown.” This is the heartbreaking story of Alex Hurley, retold. In episodes 47 and 48, I told you the story of 4-year-old Averylee Hobbs. Avery was not even a month old when her mother, Britney Roll Mayes, fractured Avery’s skull and spent time in prison. After Britney was released, she was awarded visitation with Avery, who began returning to her paternal grandparents covered in bruises, burns, bite marks, and other inflicted injuries. Even though multiple family members reported the obvious abuse, Avery’s caseworker and guardian ad litem took Britney’s side and even convinced a judge to give Britney custody of her daughter. On July 29, 2016, Avery arrived at the hospital, unresponsive, and she died three days later. In this mega episode, you’ll hear all of my previous coverage of Avery’s case, including episodes 47, 48, and a snippet from a case update special I released in December of 2021. Then, you’ll hear several more recent updates in Avery’s case, including her mother’s attempt to appeal, the ways her family has kept her memory alive, and the tireless advocacy Avery’s grandma, Tammy Risen, continues to pursue in the name of her little Cupcake. This is the tragic, infuriating, preventable story of Averylee Hobbs.Tammy's petition: https://www.change.org/p/modernization-of-children-s-rights-under-the-care-of-child-protection-servicesD.E.A.R. Episode 153: Hot Car Deaths

Episode 153: Hot Car Deaths

2023-07-2102:27:292

Since 1990, well over 1,050 children in the United States have died after being left in hot cars. An untold number of additional kids have been left with permanent brain damage and other long-term injuries. The largest percentage of these kids were unknowingly left in a vehicle by a parent or caregiver. No one wants to believe their brain is capable of this kind of failure. Many place blame on these parents, accusing them of using drugs or alcohol or of being inattentive, neglectful, abusive, or even murderous. In reality, most kids who die in hot cars have loving, caring, sober, and even overprotective parents. In this episode, I’ll attempt to reduce the stigma surrounding hot car deaths by digging into how these tragedies happen to people just like you and me. You’ll hear my conversation with Dr. David Diamond, a renowned neuroscientist who has spent decades studying the neurobiology of memory and has testified at countless hot car death trials. You’ll also hear my conversation with Janette Fennell, the founder and president of Kids and Car Safety, a nonprofit agency dedicated to saving the lives of children in and around motor vehicles, whose work has led to legislation mandating multiple life-saving technologies in newly-manufactured vehicles. This episode is brought to you by BetterHelp. If you put all of your stuff onto the back seat, you'll be reminded of your baby in a much cheaper way than to buy a new car with a reminder function. Not everyone can afford a new car right now.

The latest episode with Andrew was so lovely! Not only did it provide some light relief in a messed up world, it was just so amazing to hear their relationship and the way they can laugh together. Love the podcast and love you guys. Big love from Scotland. X

This happened in my home town. Such a tragedy. They built a beautiful playground in her memory but it still angers the entire community. If you see something, say something. The school system was the only life line this girl had and they failed her, DSS failed her .. Don’t they know parents who abuse children are cunning, & manipulative? Do better Hickory, NC.

Imagine growing up and then finding out your Mom did all these horrible things and helped murder your older brother. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Michael is not a good guy. He is a bit abusive, as related to prior to the murder. I do not appreciate how $%%^&&y he treated the woman (prior to the murder). It has nothing to do with the murder of course. But what if she was a woman who was kind, and trustworthy, and not a monster at all, and he treated her like that. I mean, she turned out to be a monster apparently. But what if she was a normal good person and this crime never happened. What were the problems he had with the child's mother, that factored into the split between them, I wonder.

I'd suspect that the parents were giving Kerrigan the medication for sedative effects and saying it was candy and left unsupervised and hungry she got into the "candy" I'm sorry people are attacking you for that suspicion.

I had to fast forward the part between AJ and his evil “mother” absolutely heartbreaking and terrifying for that poor sweet little boy. Feel as if a elephant is on my chest and a lump in the throat as a 33yr old, can’t even imagine how that little soul felt!!!!!

There's one thing that always happens in those cases - the poor child is being beaten, starved and abused in countless ways, until he/she becomes unresponsive...and then their so-called 'parents' (or whoever else is supposed to be caring for them) arrive at a hospital's emergency room with some ridiculous reason to explain the child's poor health. Falling down some stairs, having the sniffles or simply "I don't know, before the nap everything was OK!", as if the medical personnel was stupid!
