It's that time again - Mike and Mike are working to figure out who will be the subject of The Complete Works Season 5! In this episode, both Mikes introduce 5 nominees that they think would make for a compelling season of the podcast. After all 10 arguments have been made, we then whittle the names down until we're left with four finalists. And then, it will be up to YOU, the listener, to let us know which of those four finalists should be our winner - the poll goes live on BlueSky on February 9th, but you can hear the names for the first time right here!
It's time for the first Mike Makes Mike Watch of 2026! And to kick things off, it's a weird double feature: Mike D is making Smith watch a movie that had a stranglehold on '90s kids, FREE WILLY, while Smith is making Mike D watch David Lynch's surrealist nightmare LOST HIGHWAY!
It's time to check into THE BONE TEMPLE! Since we covered Danny Boyle's 28 YEARS LATER when it was released all the way back in June (and it made Mike D's Top 10 list in our Year-in-Review episode), we felt it was only right to cover the next chapter. Nia DaCosta directs, Alex Garland writes, and Ralph Fiennes and Jack O'Connell lead 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE!
It's that time again - Mike and Mike are looking back on the year in film that was 2025! They'll be counting down their Top 10 Films of the Year, then they'll be counting down their Top 10 discoveries of the year, and THEN they'll be counting down their Top 5 most-anticipated films of 2026! And in the process, they'll be breaking their own record for Longest. Episode. Ever. Special thanks to Kyle Cullen, Producer Collin, Mike Emmons, Vin Craig, Nick Wermuth, Josh Quick, Courtney Blazon, Larkin Matoon, Daniel Morgan, and Charley Macorn for their contributions to this episode!
It's time for another Off Mike Discussions episode! As both Mikes try to catch up on a few more 2025 movies before their big Year in Review episode (next week!), Smith is talking movies like JAY KELLY, MEGADOC, MARTY SUPREME, and HAMNET, while Mike D is talking JIMMY AND STIGGS, IF I HAD LEGS I'D KICK YOU, and SHELBY OAKS. Plus, Smith has some thoughts on the final season of STRANGER THINGS!
You thought we'd get out of 2025 without at least one more Nicolas Cage movie? You were wrong! This time around, Nicolas Cage stars in THE CARPENTER'S SON, a film loosely based on the childhood of Jesus Christ, framed as a horror movie. Featuring Cage as Joseph (aka The Carpenter), Noah Jupe as Jesus (aka The Boy), and FKA Twigs as Mary (aka The Mother).

It's time for the Annual In-Person Episode! Mike Smith is back in New York for the holidays, meaning he and Mike D were able to meet up to record in person and talk at length about AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH, joined by podcast mainstays Kyle Cullen and Producer Collin! We also talk a little WAKE UP DEAD MAN and speculate on AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY too, while we're at it!
It's time for another Off Mike Discussions episode! This week, both Mikes have plenty of thoughts on KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR. Then, Smith is talking 2025 releases like WAKE UP DEAD MAN, BUGONIA, and IF I HAD LEGS I'D KICK YOU, while Mike D is also catching up with some new stuff like ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER, FRANKENSTEIN, and PREDATOR: BADLANDS! Plus, both Mikes talk through their recent Movie Days!
It's time for the final Mike Makes Mike Watch of the year! And they're getting into the holiday spirit as Smith makes Mike D reconnect with family in Wes Anderson's THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS, while Mike D makes Smith check out John Frankenheimer's Christmas-set action thriller DEAD BANG!
It's time for Part 2 of one of the biggest Complete Works events in history, where two of our subjects are in the same movie together! Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh both return to their roles from last year's WICKED as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Madame Morrible alongside Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and more! It's time for us to talk about WICKED: FOR GOOD!
This week, we're bringing back Music Supervisor Kyle Cullen to finally fulfill something we've been saying we'd do for years... make him watch the TERMINATOR movies! You see, Kyle's never seen them, and with a new AVATAR coming out, we figured this was the perfect excuse to revisit some James Cameron favorites!

Here's a brief update about the podcast in case you missed it in our Season 4 finale episode - The Complete Works is (sort of) on hiatus until early 2026, but Mike and Mike Go to the Movies bonus episodes will continue in the meantime! Listen for details!
It's showtime, folks - we are closing the book on Roy Scheider with our Season 4 Finale Episode! In this epic four-hour discussion, Mike and Mike highlight some specialized categories, count down their Top 10 Roy Scheider performances, and then count down their Top 10 Favorite Roy Scheider movies. Plus, we have some dedicated JAWS time at the end and look ahead at the possibilities for what Season 5 could have in store! Thanks so much to everyone who followed along with our Scheider journey this season, and don't worry - while we are taking a short break before we go into Season 5, we'll still have plenty of Mike & Mike episodes coming out in the meantime!
It's time for another Mike Makes Mike Watch! This time around, Mike D is making Smith give Ben Wheatley another shot with A FIELD IN ENGLAND, while Smith is making Mike D cross off an '80s action comedy classic, Martin Brest's MIDNIGHT RUN!
It's finally here, folks - it's time for the final film in Roy Scheider's filmography. And this is a weird case... about 16 years after Roy Scheider's death, a mysterious new project came about which uses archive footage from an unreleased 2003 movie that Scheider starred in, which means he is *technically* in this movie. But that barely scratches the surface to how strange this thing is. Featuring "performances" from Tom Sizemore, Michael Madsen, Cillian Murphy, Harvey Keitel, David Carradine, Crispin Glover, and yes, Roy Scheider, it's time to talk about ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWEIRD.
It's time for an Off Mike Discussions episode! This week, Smith recaps the Montana Film Festival and talks new releases like ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER, ROOFMAN, PLAY DIRTY, and THE SMASHING MACHINE, while Mike D talks PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3, A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE, PRINCE OF DARKNESS, and more!
On the second-to-last Roy Scheider movie of the season, we're talking DARK HONEYMOON, an erotic thriller also featuring Daryl Hannah, Tia Carrere, and Eric Roberts. The movie isn't very good, but there's a surprising amount of Scheider and it's totally bonkers, which counts for something!
It's Mike D's birthday, and you know what that means - it's time for a Birthday By-Law episode, where he gets to select any movie he wants to talk about! And this year, Mike has selected the 1968 Hammer Horror picture THE DEVIL RIDES OUT, starring Christopher Lee and directed by Terence Fisher!
We are rapidly approaching the end of our Roy Scheider season, and so it's only fitting that we use this occasion to find an excuse to talk about JAWS one last time. Scheider narrates and appears as an interview subject in THE SHARK IS STILL WORKING, a documentary made by JAWS fans exploring the impact and legacy of one of the greatest movies ever made.
Happy Halloween! It's time for a spooky season Mike Makes Mike Watch - Smith is making Mike D catch up with an underrated Mike Flanagan film, OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL, while Mike D is making Smith watch the cult classic '80s horror comedy FRIGHT NIGHT!
