Every book of the Bible contains challenging passages, and John is no exception. It is always valuable to dig in to the text and explore those scriptures. Dr. Doug Burleson is a professor at Freed-Hardeman University, and he preaches for the Scots Hill Church of Christ. He holds degrees from Freed-Hardeman and Lipscomb University, and he earned his PhD from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His primary areas of research include Biblical exegesis and New Testament textual criticism. He will guide us through an in-depth study of these difficult texts, and we will focus on how to they impact our preaching.
Several themes and messages crop up throughout the gospel of John, and understanding them will help us preach more effectively. Dr. Allen Black holds undergraduate degrees from Freed-Hardeman and Harding University, and he did his graduate work at Harding School of Theology and Emory University. His PhD is in New Testament studies, and he has been drawn to Jesus and the Gospels since his days as a college student. He now serves as the Dean of the Harding School of Theology, where he also teaches New Testament courses. His session will help us grow in our ability to preach the themes in John’s gospel.
