m.a. Arana is a writer, poet, and editor from the Los Angeles area. She has published many poems and short stories, and recently published her debut novel, Winged Clipped. Martin and m.a. first met over a decade ago at a creative writing workshop that Martin was teaching; m.a. was in attendance as an aspiring author, and now, all these years later, she joins Martin on the podcast to chat about her new book, her writing process, and her first public event to launch Wing Clipped.
Martin interviews ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence chatbot trained to generate natural language responses to human questions. During the interview, Martin asks questions such as, "Are you an evil computer intent on taking over the world?" and "Who is Martin Lastrapes?" The answers will astound you! Martin also asks ChatGPT about its favorite movies and what kind of novel it would like to write. 
Just in time for Christmas (if that sort of thing matters to you)! In this episode Martin explains the classic narrative arc…in so far a she understands it, which includes a lot of Star Wars references (good luck, listener). He also reads from his blog article "The Future Bank Robber," which reflects on choices and consequences in storytelling.
