Join us for "Joel's Dream," chapter 4 of our book Fresh Air, by Jack Levison.Read: Numbers 11:24-30, Joel 2:28-31, Acts 2:16-21Reflect:Drawing on Joel 2:28-31, Levison writes, “The auspicious circle of authorized men around Moses…explordes in Joel’s dream, in which the spirit is poured out upon all flesh, and no less richly upon female slaves than upon male elders.” Reflect on what this prophecy says and how unsettling it truly is.Levison reflects how, “When Peter returned to Jerusalem, he retold the story to the Jewish followers of Jesus there: ‘The spirit told me to go with them without discriminating between them and us.’” How does acting without discrimination apply to a situation you currently face? How is this principal threatening to your situation? Liberating?Recorded: September 17, 2020fpcmarietta.org

Daniel 2, 4 and 5This session, we follow Daniel as he leans into his God-given gifts to serve faithfully in the Babylonian court. Daniel has been uprooted from his people and his homeland, but Daniel continues to grow where he is planted. Daniel stays connected to God and stays open to the ways God is moving. His story reminds us that God can use our gifts for good – no matter where our life’s journey takes us. Hosted by Rev. Cassie Waits. Special thanks to guests: Alesia Jones and Aimee Bush. fpcmarietta.org

Daniel 6
This session, we see how Daniel's faith is tested. The king issues a decree that the whole kingdom must pray to him for a month – or face a lion's den. Daniel must choose: will he keep God’s laws or will he follow the law of the king? Daniel trusts God and God provides for and protects Daniel in miraculous ways.
Hosted by Rev. Cassie Waits. Special thanks to guests: Dr. Jeffrey Meeks and Becca Yan and to Cal Johnson for the organ music.
