It's been a while since Season One ended, but here we are— stronger and better. Dan talks about what happened during his two year hiatus on his podcasting hobby.
In the second season of Ishtalks, Dan and a random barangay tanod from the infamous Smolbrain meme/support group share their experiences to each other and Basil as they uncover the seemingly peaceful group with deep, problematic secrets hidden inside, finally uncovered after they tried to cancel Dan themselves.
Dan and Basil dive face first into the mind of the one and only “Passion Incarnate”, Nathaniel Tantay. He is a street magician, an amateur musician, a Youtuber and he also likes to stalk and creep girls he likes on Facebook regardless if they know him or not. Ishtalks takes a very cautious direction of this topic due to Nathaniel being silent and the sources which is all one-sided, as we need Yin Omega's own side after all. Is he suffering from delusions of grandeur? Grade 8 syndrome? Or he's just a first class a-hole? We'll find out.
With a very special participation from last episode's ChibikiSenpai, episode 10 is a special one: Basil and Dan bawls out their scary stories, their childhood struggles, stories of trying to fit in and rejection.
Dan, Basil and ChibikiSenpai, our guest for this episode, provides an in-depth explanation, experiences and various dilemmas encountered by Filipino Otakus in our heavily conservative country.
Dan and his new co-host, the fabulous Basil Bacor, talks about rape culture and how it propagates, as well as Dan's lowkey career as an experimental musician, sprinkled on top with a dose of creepy stories from the Typhoon Yolanda aftermath. (Music: soundcloud.com/ishtak-khabarov-stern)
Basil Bacor joins Dan once again to talk about the recent existence of sadbois in the Philippines as well as talking about being lost out of poor direction/communication skills, our aches in life that leads us to being sadbois ourselves, and the sad news that is the NAIA plane crash landing.
Dan gives his thoughts and rating about the new album from Unique Salonga, “Pangalan”. Will Dan like it or not? We'll find out on this episode.
Basil Bacor joins Ishtalks as we dissect where, what and why do white knights exist. We also tackled the long lasting effects of being in a relationship with a white knight as well as the underlying tones of capitalism and consumerism behind it. Timestamps: (31:00 - 32:00) - 'Yung doon sa motivational speakers, kung mirrored sila or paralleled - yes, they are at some point, creating a simplicity towards its audience. It became a subgenre of its own because of the kind of audience they have.
This is an old recording from August 2019, during the height of another Darryl Yap controversy involving his short “Kung Puwede Lang” featuring a barista ranting. Me and two of my friends, Grace and Hades, talked about the director's issues as well as another issues happened during that time. (With Grace Morgenstern and Hades Morgenstern)
