I'm back!
I hope you've had a fun summer.
I'm launching this term with a fun book, perfect for your friends for Christmas. It's snippets of overheard conversations to make you titter, raise your eyebrows, question yourself and/or the quotee. How would you respond to this one?
"Why does everyone suddenly need a second screen? It's a post-Covid thing...You know, we're not all operating air traffic control from home!"
Open to conjecture on that one.
We also chat about the anxious side of early motherhood and how Natasha coped.
Snippets of conversation from Emphatic Middle-Class Women, by Natasha May can be found at Waterstones.com, Amazon and for a signed copy, message Natasha.t.may on Instagram.
Our children need 9 affirming messages for each negative one - whether that's a negative from you, a peer, a teacher... or anyone. That's a lot of affirming? How do we get that into a day and how can it be so magical?

Do you ever find yourself in an argument or debate with your child?
Do you wonder how you got so engaged and how to get out of it?
Are you made to feel guilty for holding a boundary, then frustrated when it slips?
You’re not alone. In this episode, we’ll unpack why these patterns keep repeating and how to step out of the emotional back-and-forth that leaves everyone drained.
You’ll learn what’s really happening beneath the surface when you feel blamed, bad, or backed into a corner — and how to bring calm, clarity, and courage back into the moment.
If you’re ready to stop reacting and start leading with confidence, this one’s for you.
I'd love you to leave a review 😀

How do you tether a child with an insatiable appetite for adventure without curbing their enthusiasm?
In this last of our season on Parenting through the different character types of the Enneagram, we're looking at that child who is always chasing the next thrill, activity, adventure....they love the dazzle of life and seem to have boundless enthusiasm. But facing the minor keys of life is a gift too!
I'm talking today about how to help them to embrace emotions, disappointments and acknowledge their feelings so they can truly connect with people, but without losing that zest for life.
If you have a child who fits this description, or a partner or friend, or even if it's you - this podcast is for you...

Coming to you from my convalescence after an op - with the Enneagram type 5.
The fives have some great strengths;
Firstly, their intellectual capacity and their ability to think deeply and critically are admirable. They are excellent researchers and often good problem solvers. They are naturally curious and have a thirst for knowledge. They can often see connections and patterns that others miss.
They’re fabulous in a pub quiz, though sometimes their knowledge is specialised, so then they’re just fabulous in certain rounds.
See if you recognise yourself, your child or your friends or partner...

Analytical

Sex and relationship therapist, Emma Waring has hopped on this week to share many gems on that subject which is easier to 'do' than talk about!
Fortunately, she's unabashed and and speaks into the many areas that can interfere with intimacy. Emma also shares some surprising stats and helps to open the curtain on what's really going on out there, compared to what film, tv and other screen options portray.
When you're busy raising a family it's possible that sex and relational needs are given a low priority. But emotionally healthy families are healthy in all aspects - the relationship between parents will suffer if intimacy is put on hold or if issues are avoided.
This podcast will clear up misinformation and hopefully start some good conversations.

Do you have a child who is strong and assertive, but finds it hard to follow instruction sometimes?
This season I'm exploring the 9 different types on the Enneagram because it gives such insights and clues as to what motivates different character types. We're not boxing, we're being curious - understanding what makes them tick.
This week, I'm focussing on 'The Challenger' They're assertive, straight talking, decisive, resourcesful and upfront. But they're also loyal, honest and can be protective too.
There are ways to respond to this child that will result in clashes, stand-offs and disconnect. But there are also ways that can build bridges, harness their great strengths and help their super-powers not to be over-powering.

This week I'm chatting to Helen Calder who is a life coach using the tool of the Enneagram. She walks us through the 9 different ways that people can see the world and how to understand the perspectives of others as well as their motivations, their hurdles and their opportunities for growth.
As parents it can be transformative to understand these different characters and their motivations so that we can ensure we're using the right tools to help our children to grow.
it's a fascinating tool and I'll be using this podcast as a springboard to go on and do further podcasts on each type so that we can recognise our children (partner/friend/colleague/neighbour) in the different types and use approaches that will help our connection with them and in turn help them. It's priceless!

There's always a clue behind the angst - but have we got time to explore it?
One little micro-change in how you respond to your kids will take you on a trajectory towards good relationship: Where there is understanding there can be empathy - Where there is empathy there is connection.
It's easy when you know how. The alternative? - missing the vital clues and teaching our kids to keep their feelings to themselves - that causes disconnect!!
Nobody wants that.
Come and explore...
